On every play!? Wow he's good. He should play every down then.Eh, nobody hits you when you're sprinting into the end zone.

Independent of positivity or negativity of the media, this is how coaches are. I'm not buying that Dino is this way because of the Syracuse media. I love the guy and am glad he's our coach, but this is one of those reminders that in some ways, he is like every other coach. No it’s not the local Syracuse football media are negative to get clicks or attention.
The basketball media are afraid of JB and need access thus for the most part are a lot better.
If Dino didn’t hold any press conferences Outside of the weekly conference call it would be fine for me.
Agreed! On every play!? Wow he's good. He should play every down then.
I will take my coach behaving like Bill Belichick talking to the media rather than Jeff Fisher.Independent of positivity or negativity of the media, this is how coaches are. Hope to see Elmore only in limited packages in short yardage situations. Regular usage in the O and using one of 11 previous positions for him isn't favorable.
Benson is listed at 230-something now.
As a Soph.
He’s only like 5-10lbs less than Hackett, at the same height.
He doesn’t need to get to 250.
Hackett is solid for us in the high 230’s/low 240’s
I’d listen to the powers that be.
People always like the shiny new toyThis one surprises me. Maybe the kids have underlying health issues. Either way good for them if they take the year off as its their health and their decision. I would think that the O will become the Sean Tucker show by mid year.his film is impressive. Strength speed one cut back. Cant wait to see him.
Yup, understand that and he was never given a shot to play his natural position. Just am opinion but feel he had a shot to make an impact at wr given our poor development of wr talent the last 3-4 years.
Custis is just as impressive. I had zero expectation of him going into his senior. The kid struggled to see the field for 4 years and then turns up his senior year.Poor development of WR talent? You should check the all-ACC teams under Dino.
Agree, but 6'3" , 230 isn't te size at the d1 level either. He is a twiner, more of an h back , not an every down te for inline blocking and a pass threat.
If I was on that team and players opted out I’m not so sure I would welcome them back next year. These guys are a family and competitive it’s like leaving a soldier on the battle fieldProbably been addressed in another thread, but assuming Adams and Howard have opted out how is that handled by the team? Would they still have access to the facilities/training rooms, etc. consistent with a "normal" redshirt year? Reading into what Dino said it sounds like they are not being considered part of the team as of right now.
If they have not been practicing there is no way they play in game 1, no matter whether they are opting out of season or not.awkward.
You dont know the reasons why they opted out though. If I was on that team and players opted out I’m not so sure I would welcome them back next year. These guys are a family and competitive it’s like leaving a soldier on the battle field
Want to know why I know we don’t have good local beat writers for football, because they are still here and haven’t moved on... I think they are trash and I’m sticking to itIts time for Stephen Bailey to do some investigating.
It's not at all like leaving a soldier on the battle field. It's a game, not war. If it's a family, you understand when people make decisions different than your own. Have you spent your entire adult life doing exactly what your family expected or have you had to make some decisions that diverged from them? At a literal level, we don't know their health backgrounds or what their actual family is advising them to do. How is them opting out different than a teammate leaving early for the pros?If I was on that team and players opted out I’m not so sure I would welcome them back next year. Whatever the reason you don’t leave your teammates holding the bag. That quote from Dino certainly doesn’t seem like he’s thrilled with whatever the reason isYou dont know the reasons why they opted out though.
Really sounds like Dino is respecting their choice with a quote like that. But sure defend away. It's not at all like leaving a soldier on the battle field. It's a game, not war. Risky for both Adams and Howard, even if they come back next year, they may lose their spots in rotation, it gives the others in the stable a chance to shine and if they do Adams and Howard may be relegated to back ups.Correct, I hate to lose anyone (though I am proud of the kids to have courage to make a decision they think is best even though there are obviously huge costs)
However, if there was ever a position we could best withstand this, its RB. You could envision a scenario where a Jaguar/Pierre 50-50 split of carries could challenge, or even eclipse the production of Adams/Howard.
The biggest problem is the effect on depth, as if we get an injury to J/P, we would have to go to a freshman...
You're reading an awful lot into a single quote. I see it as simply him not wanting to give anything away to oppontents. No different that when we've had coaches refuse to name a new starting QB before the first game of the season.Really sounds like Dino is respecting their choice with a quote like that. But sure defend away.
I find it the opposite, he is making them announce whatever decision they have made, thus putting the onus of that decision squarely on them. Sounds to me like he is not good with their not playing.Really sounds like Dino is respecting their choice with a quote like that. But sure defend away.
When I see players make this choice I wonder if there is someone in their lives who is at greater risk of COVID. I know enough people who are missed on a daily basis because they don’t want to potentially expose someone they love.Risky for both Adams and Howard, even if they come back next year, they may lose their spots in rotation, it gives the others in the stable a chance to shine and if they do Adams and Howard may be relegated to back ups.
He also doesn’t seem terribly skilled as a blocker but man I wouldn’t want to see him bearing down on me.The problem with Elmore on offense is it seems so predetermined where the play is going. Almost always felt like it was a left hand dive and he blocked the end. Not much thinking to it for the D. He does bring that extra offensive lineman coming out of the backfield mentality though.
I do not see a risk to to these theoretical people because during the season at least they will never be exposed to either player. I can not however read their minds as to what they are thinking. When I see players make this choice I wonder if there is someone in their lives who is at greater risk of COVID. These players surely know they could be Wally Pipped and make the decision to sit out despite that - that seems quite laudable if true
