Does anyone have the courage to come up with an argument on how next year is better?

You’re right but he was asked in the presser and he said our best player dropped the ball and didn’t do what he was told. JJ is as inconsistent as Autry and the rest are all following that lead.
Where could JJ foul on the play?

That's why I try and go for a holdover coach. Let Indiana pay Mike Woodson to coach SU. Yes it's a flawed hire but it's a huge upgrade from Autry.
Why would Mike Woodson want to coach here when he is getting paid for not coaching? It makes about as much sense as bringing in Greenberg to hold Red's hand. When was Greenberg ever a coaching savant.

You hope for the best. Have to get a great PG and a bouncy C who can defend the rim.
How do you think this season would've played out if we spent our $ on Dakota Leffew instead of dry rub?
It was basically a choice of one or the other. DL is averaging 10,2,2 but hes also facing top 10 teams alot. He was much more productive early on against lesser competition. He would also be used differently here.
Dry Rub has been pretty good really (a nonfactor on Def) but what if we had DL and a C that was known for Def?
Instead of Dry Rub and a PG known for Def?(lol)JC.

Its easy to say give me Dakota and a defensive Center over Dry Rub and Jaquan Carlos. So I will say we probably should have spent on Dakota and spent less for a bouncy Center.
But what would we do without that lemon pepper mixed with cajun seasoning? Young chefs are funny sometimes!lol.
If he dehydrated the lemons and chilis himself and grinded it into a fine powder, mixed it with self grown herbs...That would be somewhat special. However, when you buy mass produced lemon pepper and mix it in a mixer with mass produced cajun seasoning...you have nothing that 13 year old latch key kids dont already do.

Correct me if I'm wrong but I believe next year the schools can directly pay the players up to $20 million or so. If Syracuse commits to the $20 million we will be fine. That it does not even include NIL. The amount of money in college sports ridiculous
The $20.5 million revenue sharing number is the maximum schools can distribute. That total is to be spread out through football and all other sports.

If the House settlement goes through, schools will decide on their own how to divide the money up. A lot of schools will choose to distribute primarily to football, men's basketball & women's basketball.

The House settlement's current numbers will likely distribute 75% of the total $2.8 billion 'back pay' to former football players -- and the assumption is, many schools will model their future distribution models according to the numbers the settlement dictates.

Therefore, if Syracuse does decide to distribute the maximum (my guess is the P4 conferences will mandate such), roughly $15.375 million could go to football -- if SU decides to follow the 75% model. They could do more or less. But know that the SEC schools and many others will be doing at least 75%, possibly more.

Of the remaining $5.125 million, I could see men's basketball getting $3.125 million, women's basketball getting $1 million, men's lacrosse getting $750,000 and women's lacrosse getting the remaining $250,000.

Again, this is just conjecture and the House settlement could change a bit based on a number of lawsuits out there. For those that aren't following, there are a lot of female student-athletes or their representatives pushing against the roster limit piece of the House settlement. There are others arguing that Title IX laws must be followed with distribution of the maximum revenue sharing (which would mean more than half of the $20.5 million would go to women's sports).

With the recent change in leadership in Washington, D.C., I would be surprised if the House settlement is altered in a drastic way. But it's worth following.

All this being said, SU -- if it decides to opt in, which it will likely be forced to do to retain membership in the ACC -- will have much more money to play with as it relates to revenue distribution/NIL. Many schools are also folding up their collectives and, now that the payments can come from the school, taking all donations that used to go to those collectives and putting it all in one pot for distribution.

A lot of chaos. A lot of confusion. Hoping the people up on the Hill have a plan.

No one needs to make their own narratives despite all evidence to the contrary quite like you. How long do you need to post here before your realize Dasher Isn’t blowing smoke?
Dasher is your God. Good for you. In the NIL world it is all about the money. It is wishful thinking that we will have the money to compete.

The elephant in the room question...

What do the big SEC and B1G schools do with the millions they have left in collective money after the $20.5 mil school fund in funded??

What are they allowed to do with the excess?? (which will likely be substantial for a lot of the big dogs.)

There are still going to be additional funds from donors that are disbursed - however, all contracts that are put together for NIL purposes will need to be vetted officially by the NCAA/schools.

I’m not sure who is going to be enforcing anything, but theoretically this mandate would hinder those that are simply paying a kid millions of dollars for one appearance and a few autographs.

I'm not sure what it should be, but I would love to see some sort of provision that the revenue split of the $20M be approximately the same as the revenue split of the ticket sales from the sport.

That'd be fair from a sharing POV, and also fair for competition in that it would prevent people from front loading stuff. Imagine a school like Kentucky or UNC saying "OK 2027 we're going to put all $20M in football and load up in the portal. Then 2028 we're going to put all $20M in basketball and get one and dones."

Tanking in pro sports is awful. I would be so disappointed if it becomes a college strategy too to chase championships.

My impression is that the money from the school is (theoretically) coming from ticket revenue. I'm sure it will be offset by donors elsewhere in the budget, but I don't think it stops any of the current NIL stuff from happening. It just makes it a lot less lucrative.

Lol, There’s people that live here or talk to people within the AD that have a better pulse on things than someone who’s 5000 miles away. By your logic there’s no way Duke should have lost to Clemson last night.

One thing that hit me this morning. How does BC get that 3 off at the end of regulation? Yes it's poor coaching before people hammer me and it's been talked about over and over what should've happened and didn't on the court. But how did we really get to that point.

The way we practice defense must be just so bad right? and to multiply the issue just terrible defenders all over on this roster, learning bad habits from each other some for years now. Yes that means the staff is not coaching but these guys we have come on. I don't even know how to explain it. They play probably 10 mins of decent D a game, 20 mins of inconsistent D, and then 10 mins of playground defense.

At this point I don't even care who is coaching next year or the year after, I just can't take this piss poor defense. They have to get players that can play defense and start there. I don't even care about iso ball and not running plays and the million other offensive problems we have, fix the defense first and then that.

The defense -- lack of effort, lack of intensity, and lack of recognition about what to do / what not to do in key situations is one of the many SIGNIFICANT red flags with this coaching staff.

The players have to execute, but when they practice the wrong things, aren't told what to do in the huddle, and are allowed to get PT without putting forth defensive effort...

I’m a Red fan but I must admit that he is the biggest of the many problems with the team. He doesn’t have a system offensively and defensively. You see guys making the same mistakes from early in the season through yesterday’s game. He just doesn’t seem able to motivate guys and get them engaged.

In this age of NIL and the portal, a coach must be able to bring a brand new group of players together each year and prepare them to win. We will never know what a good experienced coach could have done with the team we assembled this year. We can only guess and look at other teams that are constructed head to toe or head to waist with new players. Losing McNamara was huge as he would have helped Bell and others with their shooing issues. Assistant and Associate Coaches Matter.

Red is going to see a year three. So, the next best thing to do is to hire a former veteran respectable head coach and make him the Associate Coach, so that he can work with and teach Red how to coach. It is not a sign of disrespect for Red as we see that even in the NBA, there are many very good former head coaches who are assistant coaches. Just keeping things as is and bringing in “better talent” next year will make little or no difference.

That was my frustration yesterday. I’m not nearly the X-O person that you and others are. But when even I see multiple breakdowns at the end of regulation, that’s not good.

I just think of practice. Carlos running the point is a non threat, 5 foot nothing dribbling around. Cuffe driving into the abyss with no plan. Moore is a freshman. JJ is JJ. Bell is a one trick pony.

So when they’re scrimmaging in practice that must be a mess and I can’t believe they’re learning anything. Sure they’re not being taught anything but the talent theyre up against in practice is a problem too. It’s all excuses I know but I just want to see a real defense next year.

If Autry gives us a defense next year early on I’ll give him some props but if there’s no defense we might as well all jump over to the coaching replacement thread in November.

I'm not even sure I fully understood what going "under a screen" was until this season. Now, it's all I see. Maddening defense.
