Does anyone know what happened to Dick in Michigan?

Smack talk about other teams is fun. A lot of the OT (politics) board stuff goes way beyond that.
Oh I agree. Saying it in the spirit of compromise vs calling out the political threads for what they truly are... which is nastier than some ufc pregame jargon.

Also, I'd just like to throw out there...

Is it such a bad thing that posters like to have fun sometimes, rather than just being analytic all the damn time? God forbid people take a break from crunching numbers and discussing time and again zone versus man and how many players JB will go with in the rotation, and decide that some enjoyment is in order - which, judging by the number of people who participate and throw around "tees" - is an enjoyment shared by a whole lot of people.

Fun shouldn't be painted as a shameful thing.

That's my whole damn shtick on this board. I can't analyze a game like General can. But I can make quirky pictures. However, I'd like to think that I add something to this board.

we could turn into reddit and have a forum for literally everything

What time and channel is the game on?
Zone vs M2M
Your refs tonight...
every team but Syracuse
SWC's history corner
Posters I saw tonight even though I see them multiple times every season

He got frustrated by the way the board had changed. He didn't find it worthwhile to come here any more. He had no use for the sophomoric crxp that was becoming common place here (e.g., name-calling, threads full of nothing but half naked women and people trolling for tees).
I guess that makes it official!! Likes are officially called Tees now!!

I just turned 71 so I always make sure I cover my eyes on those threads dealing with half naked women.

Change is inevitable, especially with things internet. People have their own reasons for coming and going. But I'll attest to something for certain, this place is much better run and one hell of a lot more fun to hang and talk with some SU fans than some of the alternatives, off-topic board or otherwise. And I think we can all agree on that.

I spend 6-7 hours a day on this board (hopefully the new job will allow something close to that). Like Lawinson, it seems like everything I want to say about a game has already been said mulitple times, or I just cant break down the game like some of you can. I spent a long time just lurking, posting very little. Yea it was awesome to get all this SU info, but it wasent something I could do all day. I can see doing away with the half naked lady threads, but some of these random threads that have been popping up have been hilarious.. For a bunch of people that are either retired, or bored at work, it can help make your day fly by.

For a board that is run on advertising monies, it gets a lot more clicks out of this guy, knowing that at any moment, something epic might happen.

No one is required to click on every single thread, particularly when the vast majority of the types of threads referenced have almost always been kept to the off topic boards in the past. I have always valued Dick in Michigan's opinions but if that's truly his reason for no longer being here, it's pretty flimsy if you ask me. The ignore button exists for a reason. And beyond that, again, is the fact that you don't actually have to read threads that you don't think would interest you.

Personally, I only read the threads I want, and the posts and opinions of people I actually respect, for the most part. I'm not sure why that's so hard for others to do, frankly.

You can read what you want, and ignore what you want. To use that stuff as an excuse to leave is weak, to be honest. For the most part the discussions here during the season are worthwhile and relevant. Do people stray off topic now and then? Of course they do. Welcome to the internet. Hell, not just the internet, welcome to life. People go off on tangents all the time, and if a few people are engaging in a conversation that doesn't interest you, you know what? You don't have to listen.

Sorry, but not everyone is going to want to talk about the same things, and not everyone is going to have the same kind of humor, and not everyone is going to have the same uniform opinions. You come into a community like this and people are going to come from varying backgrounds and walks of life and different things will amuse them. You don't have to like it, but to use it as an excuse to leave seems kinda small and, frankly, elitist to me.

Stepping down off of my soap box now.

If only there were good threads and bad threads - the problem is that sooner (not later) many threads are hijacked, so one can't simply ignore what they want to.

I fully agree, CTO. I don't think the creators of this board would be proud of some of the silliness that is posted here.

Are you not a major contributor on the OB side?

In other words, he misses the pay side, right? ;)

Cheers,
