ESPN alert just said Babers playing 2 QBs

Who's goona tell Dino?

I still think we should play both at the same time. Two quarterbacks, two running backs and 2 receivers. Noah's Ark.
The Boo's will tell him

Devito has a higher ceiling because he has the skill that is most sought in a Qb, the ability to throw the ball. His ability to drop the deep ball in the bucket hasn’t been seen in this program. It was something Nassib always struggled with and as big an arm as McNabb had his accuracy wasnt the greatest.

He needs help, mostly pass protection . If that isn’t moderately adequate then he isn’t going to be set up for success. Now if he is eating the ball after 4 seconds instead of less than 2, then make a change.

I don’t accept the assertion that it’s not possible to assemble a good OL. That isn’t true and has done not so long ago. I’m going with the premise that the OL is going to be pretty good because of the age and experience of the guys across the line, the depth of the position, and the ability to get maximum reps in.

the Full Ride guys on ESPNU radio grabbed onto this story and talked about it for a while. not in a good way, mind you. The usual if you have two QBs you have no QBs stuff. they also talked about how they were surprised that things have gone south for the program the last two years, after it seemed like Dino was pretty dead on each of the first three years with where he said the program was going to be and obviously things seemed to be very much on the upswing.

Devito is better than Troy, who couldn’t push the ball more than 20 yds from the LOS, and I’m confident GS is more talented than RJ

I meant the booing during rotating QBs.

Too much hand-wringing here. He needs to play both for different reasons.

TD: Does he crumble on live rush again?
GS: What element does his running ability bring?

Can't answer those in practice. May the best man win.

Agree with what you’re saying, but I don’t think there are many here that don’t think TD battles hard or looks good with the green jersey on.

it’s when it all goes live
My point wasn’t about game performance. We know his strengths and weaknesses. I’m referring to the ongoing competition. Ive been hearing comments on and off this board saying TD is “Dino’s favorite, “his prized recruit”. It’s insinuating that Dino isn’t giving Shrader a fair look and that TD didn’t earn it. It makes no sense. Plus it’s a fixed mindset. I’ve been as critical as anyone on TD. It’s a clean slate right now with me. I can’t get myself to think that way after 23 years of teaching and coaching. I’ve seen way too many people prove me wrong lol.

every kid knows on every team who the starters should be.

this is not Rec baseball where everyone bats and everyone plays.

this is major college football at the P4 level.

if TD was beat out, his ass would and should be on the bench.

the loyalty to the team?? the loyalty to the team is...to play the best players and win ballgames.

these young men are old enough to be able to put their friendships to the side and roll with whomever the coaches go with.

if shrader comes in on the goal line and starts doing jump passes then fine, if he comes in on the 3rd series because thats what the bill walsh script said...then we've got a problem.

not only at QB, but at HC.
Dude, the only thing that's important is that the kids get a great education and hopefully have fun along the way.

Just kidding! I actually agree with all of your points.

Most schools, down to G5, can put together a functional OL. Maybe not a good one, but not one that kills anything they try to do on offense.

No reason we can't here. Hopefully we're stronger, healthier, and being led by a position coach that can bring it all together. (to just be ok, and not terrible. Not asking for greatness out of the gate).

There are ways around that. You just leave certain parents off an email or two and then blame technology.

Dino's fighting for his job. If he doesn't have this planned out, then at least we all know. My sense is he's just trying to keep Ohio guessing. He's pretty transparent about doing that stuff, thinking the answer is in the stealth.

kids should be brought in all the time to push the starters, we are just used to 1 qb per 3-4 years.

and that is sad.

we also were burned, the last time we had a high end QB transfer come in, i refuse to be had again.

i want to see it on the field and id prefer, to only see 1 QB per game.

if TD sucks v the underbelly of the schedule, which happens again to be the month of September, then we will all see it pretty quick. that rutgers game seems to be the boards anointed changing of the guard date...it might be too early, it might not, but not beating rutty to go 2-0 is not good.

i dont like babers language and his thought process.
Let's worry about beating Ohio first, we still don't know if either QB can effectively run the offense.

Completely agree. Need a win and I’d like to see some sustained offensive drives and some short yardage conversions. If we get those, the offensive line will have done their job and a lot of the kvetching we are doing now will be put in the rear view mirror.

couldn't be more wrong...I'll say it again:

Dinos interview was very straightforward. He said he needs to see Tommy and Shred in live action. Just as my friend reported Shred opened eyes and will get a true chance as he's earned it.
Unless Tommy fell flat on his arse or got injured he was always going to start. The fact that Dino said both deserved to play means that we are going into Ohio with the position open. I believe that is a good thing for the team. Should be a very interesting game.

Respectfully I disagree.

guys like you convinced me TD should not be a D1 QB. So if that’s the case, what are we doing here? What’s the point of ‘playing the seniors’ to start the year?

If he sucks that bad, he would not be well liked and respected. The team wouldve found a nice way to feeeze him out.

I don’t know what the hell is going on and I don’t think dino does either.

Cuse has been a National joke for football for 2 long and announcing we have 2 QBs feeds that fire.

I’m embarrassed.

‘TD should not be a D1 QB’

where did that come from?
