Fire Autry

Other schools aren't Private Universities and can tap into tens if not hundreds of millions of state funds. SU also doesn't run like LSU or FSU, there not gonna fire a HC every 2-3 years, they don't have funds. SU takes their Athletics extremely seriously but they're never gonna be able to be Alabama or Ohio State in fball or Kentucky in bball. The Red situation has been explained about a 1000 times by now I don't know how much clearer I can make it.
no one in here is upset that we’re not Alabama in football or Kentucky in basketball.

A hallmark of mediocre organizations is a lack of accountability. Who is in charge at SU?

You are right - Uconn is trying and failing to compete in football, both on the field and financially. This is exactly my point.

Your missing the bigger point, without a conf home and actual yearly conf payout whats happening is not currently sustainable. It's why they couldn't hold onto Mora after winning 9 games and why they lost 50+mill last year. Their bleeding $$ and sooner then later something is gonna give. SU following that same path would be insane.

Here's a scenario nobody is talking about.

Donnie Freeman is out for an extended period of time -- if I had to guess, he will miss the entire season.

Wildhack gives him a pass due to extenuating circumstances, and we have another year of this crap.

I'm not saying it's going to happen, but the way things have gone lately I wouldn't be shocked.
It’s crossed my mind but I hope and believe this won’t be the case. Lots of teams were without stars in Vegas including the one we played today. No excuses

As I said previously, there are a lot of posters who don't get it, or simply refuse to relinquish their position when insider knowledge and/or common sense are presented.

With all due respect I don't have the time or patience for a back and forth on whose in charge up on the hill. We all know whose in charge and and that the BOT plays a large role as well.

And that's fair.

But a lot of people here either don't listen to people in the know, or just don't care because it doesn't fit their 'beliefs'
What belief? That no one is in charge of SU basketball and Athletics?

My belief is that SU basketball has been trending down to a mid-major for a decade plus. There are people responsible for that. Others here apparently disagree and think it’s the fanbase’s fault for not understanding the REAL situation that only afflicts SU.

I totally agree the defense has improved this season. How can you feel optimistic about our offense? It's terrible and hasn't improved under Red.

Please keep in mind both KU and Iowa St. were missing their best player. We ere even against those teams.
And we were missing the guy most consider to be our best player in all 3 games. I am optimistic about our offense because it is difficult to get worse. Guys who have been solid 3-point shooters in the past are missing wide open shots. We can’t shoot worse from the FT line than we did against Houston and Kansas. Hopefully we will see improvement soon.

This invitational was the worst thing possible for our team. We were not ready nor talented enough at this stage to compete. Especially with Donnie going out.
The Houston game built confidence and then Kansas and Iowa State smacked us back down to reality.
I do still have hope that we make the tourney. We play a lot of winnable games after this barrage of attacks we just took. I think we will hopefully improve and learn lessons from these games going forward.
Hope so, but someone has to be able to teach those lessons.

OK, sure.

I was in wait and see mode until this week mostly cuz I liked these players and wanted to see them work out. Kyle has just been the best great imo.

I reached my limit today on Autry tho. I was well below 50% that he would ever be the guy but you know crazy things happen when guys play hard for a guy and have an identity.

Like people are saying there’s not zero odds for a lot of things here but right now Autry is going to have to basically win out and never allow another half of basketball to look like this again. Got a better chance of a slots jackpot hitting than Autry being here next year.

You're correct that the offense cannot get much worse. I admire your positivity. I'm with you, I'll continue supporting the team and hope there's improvement.

I am probably ignorant of the politics. It seems to me that the AD should be able to hire a coach of his university’s signature program which is men’s basketball. If he did not want Red, his vote should be the ultimate decision maker as the head of the department.

You may want to consider that the world does not work the way you think it should. Because it most certainly does not.

You either need to adjust your thinking to consider how the world actually works and formulate your opinions based on that, or accept that you will be endlessly baffled and frustrated by decisions which you cannot comprehend. If you chose the latter, prepare to be baffled by Wildhack remaining the AD - he’s not going anywhere unless it’s his choice to move on.

I got you - well said. We can agree that UCONN is doomed. :)

This isn't the thread for this discussion, but I'm really talking more about a Big East approach, or potentially an ACC & Big East basketball super-conference (after FSU, Miami, and Clemson inevitably leave).

If it did work that way and ADs got their way all the time, there wouldn't be a man with a hoodie and a 25 year old girlfriend roaming the sidelines at UNC this season, to cite an example at another school.
