If he's " running away" it isn't because of Autry. It's because the people on this board and the rest of the fans didn't pony up enough to keep him here. In other words, it's yours and my fault.

I agree but I think the interesting question was moreso does Freeman want to stay?

If he wants to stay but the funds can't match that is one thing. Donnie taking the first ship out is much worse.
 
If Donnie wants to be here next year which 4 games ago I was told he wanted to come back to play with sadiq and Kiyan, melo will make it happen trust me. Donnie got 150k to come to cuse. He could have gotten a lot more elsewhere but it’s bc he wanted to play for Red and cuse. Now what happens from here on out bc of the record and what not, I’m not sure what he’s thinking or considering. But if he wants to come back, im optimistic… I don’t think he’s going to the league next year
 
Yeah so you all realize given the nature of the business, this is just the player and his agent setting the table right? Literally every high talent, high skilled, high output player is working with their agents for offseason business either with the current team or a new team. Nothing to see here. Plenty of time.

donnie freeman was a colossal land for Red . but he has missed a few games now with his foot injury and frankly his SU basketball "foot"age to date has been somewhat sub par . and most likely he ain't gonna see no NCAA tourney games this year (ACC EVEN ?) for added national exposure. thus IMO he's not getting drafted . so i would expect he''ll be playing college for pay next year or D league. and with good players now getting paid plenty at the collegiate level now , to me D league seems like a surrender and a pay cut . if he truly wants to play on the national stage and improve his draft stock next year my logic says move on and take the $$$bag$$$ elsewhere at a top 10 program . btw he's probably my favorite player in the program . he's the one should be wearing #44. sadly it just ain't playing out well for him here. and he quite literally can't afford to wait for things to improve . could be wrong. again.

Now it's the board's fault that the program is a dumpster fire?! Good lord, just admit you were wrong about Red already. Stop doing this to yourself.
 
Next year's class will also be one and done if the coaching doesn't change

I still think it’s crazy looking at the numbers, Lampkin got 800k but our budget was around $2.2 million in total.

Just listened a few times to see if I missed something. These guys all get calls, there's no tampering rule that's real. JJ and Bell got calls and offers for more. It actually is just the way it is.

Eh, it's one piece of a puzzle. NIL, fans, location, wins, coaches, minutes, development all matter, and especially, NBA opportunity.

Say I'm a player his caliber and for whatever reason I don't think NBA scouts are going to see me where I'm at, I'm gone pretty much regardless of NIL.

In reality, NIL is something we could but probably won't screw up. Other factors are maybe more important.
 
Freeman was never expected to be here for more than a year. Remember that podcast with Choppa and dry rub? Alot of that podcast featuring Donnie, Choppa was stressing how Donnie was a 1 year player.
Pretty sure that podcast was shut down after that one and that had alot to do with it. Also pretty sure all the podcasts they recorded are still available to listen to...except that one.

So if that is true...we expected him to get drafted or get paid more by another program. Just a theory of mine based on what I consider clear evidence.

If you were Freeman and were hoping to win big, play in March, and develop your game to get draft in the first round. Why would you come back to Syracuse? Serious question. Why? You can't have any confidence that those things will happen.

Maliq took a Million to come off the bench at Duke (where he's averaging 2.5 & 4.5)

If Maliq was starting at the "5" here, is he better off?
