Future Campus Framework Discussion

This is why I think they should offer it up with a small cover charge. It was crowded and 75% of the dome has no idea its there because they enter from other gates making it a real pain to even get there.

It holds 1-2K they say. So charge $5 cover if they want you might make 5-10K a game and over the course of a yr you might make 500K out of it. It would limit the congestion it is already seeing as well.

If the cover limits its use then rethink it.

It was designed on purpose to not be an exclusive spot.

If you want an exclusive spot that you have to pay a cover for there is a place called Club 44…

syracuse.com article said it held 2800-2900, but I've never been there, so can't judge.

I'm hoping they realize what a cash cow it can be to get folks into the Dome early to buy overpriced food and beverages, thereby spurring on a similar development on the west end of the Dome. Probably need more than a two game sample size when the weather outside was less than ideal, but a guy can dream, right?

But it was already a spot where you couldn't move, or sit and there was no food and and no one knows much about it. The Tv tent area in the quad is hard to use on most days as well. If you want to come early and hang this is better.

A cover does not make it non exclusive. Club 44 is pretty exclusive and much smaller

Moving from a congested concourse to a congested new area doesn't improve much. I wonder if they were actually trying to track the crowd. A few pictures and some counting and they would be able to tell how much it can really handle. It was pretty close to maxed out when I walked thru it. If you didn't luck out to a table eating was impossible with all the jostling.

I agree...no cover.

Might not always be a dream.

I’m sure Syracuse would love to do it

Just need the $$$$$$

This is where you build stairs and create a 2nd level sun deck above Miron

When you build something like that you don't really know how well it's going to be used, so being overcapacity is kind of a good problem to have.

I don't think bigger would have been better given that it creates a choke point, rather, more. Given how it's going, I think they'll probably build something on the other end zone too. Maybe the whole thing is at street level to walk in off Irving, and then when you're ready to go to your seats have escalators up to the 100 level.

As a bonus, I could see people hanging out there after the game and buying snacks while they wait for RAY and IAG to clear.

Edit: Crap. Not Irving anymore. Jim Boeheim way.

Wouldn't that already be at the 100 level? Which would be nice having 100 on one side and 300 on the other. But in both cases you need a stairway to get up and down.

Last game it took forever to get from MVC past section 324 which is one section away. That eases with the 100 level people not going that way.

Wonder if that's actually possible. You could do some really cool things...though it'd only be usable for a few football games a year and probably not worth it. You're better off doing something on west end connecting to falk that you can monetize for basketball too.

Street level you have to go up maybe 4-5 flights of stairs to get the 100 level gates, that end of the dome is perched on a relatively steep hill which they'd have to build into.

That walk is pretty windy and cold which is the big selling point of IAG and the catwalk. It'd be real tempting to duck in there and get a beer or coffee or whatever instead of hoofing it up the cold stairs.

Downside is RAY and FINE are already huge tailgate destinations and so it'd be competing a little bit.

I think it'd be possible if they had planned for the potential expansion. I noticed the columns in there are really thick, they may well have.

If I’m not mistaken the original plans called for a deck no?

Could be monetized for weddings, etc...

Thought MVC was a great addition to the dome, even though it was pretty packed. Also saw Syverud walking by at one point. The TVs with the noon games were a hit too.

I think it will be more crowded until people get used to it because it seemed everyone that was around was there to check it out for the first time.

Can't see the floors when it's packed, doesn't matter at all.
I agree...I think concrete is fine. Terrazzo Flooring would really look sharp though

Don't disagree with that. Add some orange in there.

Small issue is it's slicker than concrete, so if someone spills a drink in there it could be hazardous.

Oh yeah, no one here would complain if they charged for entry. No one at all.

Im sure some would. I also am sure some would like a nice place that wasn't congested to hang out pre-game out of the weather for the 90% who don't tailgate.

Seeing how hard it was to use on a soft opening makes me wonder how well it can be used if many people wanted to go in.

I thought it was great. Not sure what you mean by "hard to use". I enjoyed the space very much. I got multiple drinks. Hung out there for a while. Loved it.

I think building a huge extension on the west side is an inevitability.

Would be very tricky because that is the big load-in/out area for the football trucks and probably concerts to an extent. Could see something off Crouse Drive where Gate D is.

Did you mean, "A cover does not make it non-exclusive." ?
