i would think so. nobody really cares for cbb. the ratings these espn games gets are surprisingly minuscule
Really need a "dislike" button. So someone going to a game at home, that they may already have tickets and plans for, is somehow a lesser fan because they don't drop all that and spend all the extra money to go to NYC and support the exact same school in a different sport? Just horrendous reasoning.Basketball goes to march. This is the last football game of the season. Everyone said 6-6 was a good record so now we just abandon them...I guarantee the pinstripe bowl will have better ratings that Syracuse vs Villanova. All this talk of how much we hate Rutgers this is a perfect chance to clean there clock one more time. Idk if you like both programs equally and your going to the basketball game instead of this bowl than you do not actually like both programs equally.

To YOU... you've said you only care about football, and that's fine, it makes it an easy choice for you. But to question fans loyalty who happen to love and care about both programs is ridiculous. No matter how loyal to both programs a person is, you can only be at one place at a time. It doesn't mean we don't care about the other. If you already have tickets than go, but if you are considering its an obvious choice
Believe me i watched most of the bama auburn game and it was a classic. Not denying that. You can count on one hand how many of those games there are a year in college football.
Could be two top ten teams. Point being, I'd rather watch two lions compete for dominance than two alpacas. I don't care how "random" the game is.Because I'm not debating college football vs. college basketball. I'll take college basketball all day. I'm simply comparing a Syracuse bowl game vs. a random home basketball game in December.
Sounds like some people are upset at others personal preference, that's pretty weak.
Because they choose one sport over the other makes them less a fan??? There are a lot of factors that come into to play.
For me college basketball is first, college football is second. Everything else is a few steps lower. I can watch either sport.
. Buddy Syracuse is a fair weather town If we had a perennial top 15 team in football and hoops was lesser be a football town. I went to hoops game when we weren't that strong. 2002 there was barely anyone in dome vs a bc team that we had to beat. Whoever wins is the town it is.gilardino said:Oh boy, I may start a battle here, but this is a basketball town. period. when you go out of the area wearing a syracuse shirt, first thing people mention are cuse hoops players, not cuse football players. the pinstripe bowl will lose fans to the cuse/nova showdown. two top ten teams in dome. it is what it is

Bravo. The basketball fans clearly don't get it.
And no offense to you, but who is going to care that we won 3 pinstripe bowls in 4 years with a 4 year record of 28-23? Not many people outside of Syracuse. Sure, it's something nice to pitch to recruits, but other than them, who is getting that message? Is ESPN going to be running stories on it? I sure don't think so.

BS. Stop with the crap that you think you know how people feel. And the football team wouldn't be abandoned.

I am not going to get into the whole hoops vs football argument but I will say, if it's pinstripe, I will be taking my son and watching the hoops game on DVR. I personally am rooting for Pinstripe, even if it is Rutgers.
Not if ND goes to another bowl and we fill the Big 12's open slot against the AAC rep.I think for us to have a shot at the Pinstripe, Rutgers has to lose vs. USF and not be bowl eligible.
We (basketball fans) aren't naive. Everyone has their preference. No need to get your panties in a bunch about itNot sure if this hasn't been said 1.7 trillion times in Conference Expansion but "Football Drives The Bus".
Anyone who would debate the popularity of college football vs. college basketball is insane. There is a reason that Football drove expansion and there is a reason that those TV contracts are $20 mil plus for the Big 5 conferences and the reason is not basketball.
