Class of 2019 G Dyaisha Fair (NY) Transferring from Buffalo to Syracuse

At this point I don't think Syracuse is in her future but rather a school that will give her the most exposure and tournament play and then opt in for next year's WNBA draft.
Unfortunately for her at 5-5 that's a big problem for playing in the WNBA. Moriah at 5-6, has been injured most of the time. Jordan Canada has been a backup at Seattle, they let go and brought in January. Crystal Dangerfield at 5-5 had an OK first year, Minnesota brought in Clarendon. With all the quickness and size in the WNBA, it's tough staying in the league at 5-5, or 5-6.

Or maybe she's just looking at all her options. She visited Syracuse first, then Baylor, now whatever school she's at right now. I think we still have a good shot.

Agree, her size is a problem for WNBA and with only 1 or 2 spots on any roster in any year chances are low to make it for any player. Just hope she is getting good advice and makes a good decision, personally I think it's better to go with what you know (FLJ) but I'm not making that decision.

And playing in the ACC is as good a conference as any to be seen.

Her latest instagram story shows a post from 16 hours ago with her on a plane with the title Rochester International Airport. She has to be flying to somewhere as OVs are only for 3 days. And then she is taking a selfie in another hotel room 27 minutes ago, has to be another OV.

Looks like it’s South Carolina this weekend. We’re still hopeful, but it’s clear she’s setting her sights high

The Missouri transfer Guard is visiting SC as well this weekend. SC will be full if they get the Mizzou girl (SC is the fav to ger her). Kind of a weird visit for Fair if ya ask me.

So this is her third visit? Just read that maximum of three visits are allowed.

Yes she visited us two weeks ago, Baylor last weekend and SC this weekend.
Think this ship has sailed, she would have been a good fit here. Places like Baylor and South Carolina she's just another player, would have to be great on both sides offense and defense to play at either place.
Her size will hurt her on defense at those 2 places.

Dyashia’s cousin told me today that she wants to go somewhere where she can win a national championship. Just relaying info. Take it fwiw
i can understand that. She has already been the dominant player on a decent team, elevating them to the NCAA tournament. That is about the best she could realistically do if she came to Syracuse.

I would be really impressed if she was willing to give up being a starter and maybe being the 6th or 7th player on one of these teams. That has to be really hard to do.

If that is what she wants and and one of these schools has a role for her, I wish her the best. Hope she gets her dream.

I honestly think we are in good shape with guards right now. Let’s add a couple more forwards and another big and see how we match up in the ACC.

I think all players probably dream of winning a national championship or making it to the Olympics.
There is something to be said though about being with people you already know and who care about you. Waco and Columbia are definitely not Upstate NY. But that's just my old person opinion.

If Thats Her concern there are only 3 teams that have that chance. South Carolina, Stanford, and Uconn. If she"willing to be the 7th, 8th or 9th player on the team good for her.
Wish her well.
South Carolina just lost a 5 star guard, and look how much Kamilla played this year about 14 minutes a game.
Dawn doesn't go deep into her bench.
Stanford wouldn't be in the discussion, because Tara is already 10 deep.
Uconn already has Paige, and Rudd who will get 30+ minutes a game.

Random occurrence. Throwing back some cold ones at happy hour with a buddy last night. Saw these two athletic tall looking girls. Called them over to recruit them for a coed football league we play in. Turns out it was the new Buffalo women's head coach and assistant. Long story short. Doesn’t sound like she is going to Syracuse.

Can't blame these young folks trying to capture their dream. Really, because there is no money to be made in the WNBA or the Olympics unless you get endorsements.

That’s why all the WNBA players go overseas. Probably shortens many careers, suffering more injuries playing year round because salaries are greater overseas than in the US.

Makes sense. I mean even seeing Tianas social media- seems so much happier back in Australia.
