So let’s talk about this for a second. We have technically 6 open positions.

3 recruiting positions

2 coaching, non recruiting assistants

1 GM

If Gerry is indeed bringing all 3 assistants, it may be smart to put AO or Blackwell into a non recruiting position. Go out and get an ace recruiter to fill out the third recruiting position.

Then for the last coaching non recruiting position go and get a fantastic “offensive coordinator”.

Close it out with a GM that can find and identify talent. Specializes in analytics. Really a shame we moved on from Kline to then hire someone who doesn’t have a GM. That ship has sailed, but Kline is that type of guy. Weaver was fantastic when he was here, but has not been very successful in the NBA. I think Hop would excel at this position. I think that would be a home run hire.

This is just gaslighting and you know it. You could apply this to any number of coaches who were only previously assistants or taking bigger jobs from smaller schools.

I was watching at a Hooters in Jax that weekend before the Gator Bowl.

idk but why do I care, we didn't hire any of those guys and only shertz was on my list.

Shertz has 451 career Head Coaching wins

Martelli and Hodgson are a wash with Gerry. Im glad we didn't hire either of them.

Gerry has played with a NBA HOF, won a NC. Recruited and coached many AA’s sent many guys to the NBA as an assistant coach. Play in from of 30k in a storied program and make $$$$

We largely had a cast of over rated players and we gave too many minutes to shooting guards who could not shoot. Coaching experience is less important than ability to judge talent. We are in a difficult recruiting position for a multitude of reasons. Obviously, G-Mac is a good judge of talent. I do not expect miracles, but I am happy with G-Mac.

Playing hard is a talent, being scrappy and having a high motor is a talent. I saw other teams diving and beating our guys for looses balls. $$ cures the issue of getting elite players who have all the traits teams need.
