Did the officiating suck? Absolutely.

Was it lopsided? Absolutely not. The fouls were 22-20 until the last minute when Syracuse started to foul intentionally. Both teams were hit with some terrible calls.

tOSU didn't have a player get to 4 fouls until Craft got it in the last 2 minutes. SU had FOUR guys with FOUR fouls with 12 minutes to go. No argument that the officiating sucked for both teams, but SU was dramatically more affected by the distribution and timing of those fouls.

I'll say this, I think at some point around the 8:00 mark they started calling some weird on Ohio State. Those fouls around the rim were somewhat questionable and evened the numbers out a bit. Honestly, I could give a at that point because we were already FUBAR though and had no rotation, no flow, no nothing going on due to the first 32 minutes of absolutely mind-bendingly stupid calls. They were in the bonus before I could finish a beer both halves (j/k - it may have been close though).

The fact that we were in it for a bit at the end was astounding.

They just decided it's SU's ball on the inbounds play that OSU threw out of bounds, but was awarded to them, then us, then them again . . . . .

Can you tell us the fouls on OSU you thought were terrible?

Triche got called for a charge on a clear blocking foul taking away an And1 and giving you a point off a technical foul shot.
Dion got whistled twice for not touching anyone, specifically the one on the press by the sideline that gave him 4 fouls.
Sullinger got 4 points on non-contact anticipation calls. Once on an entry pass where he wasnt even touched by Keita, and another when he tripped over his own feet and was awarded a foul on Keita.
Ball goes off OSU and after a sh!tshow is given back to you for some reason.

Do I need to continue...because I can.

kyle.. osu had fouls spread evenly when there were chances they should have been tagged to sully or thomas.. also osu was allowed to play much more aggressively .. sully had a clear elbow to create space.. and craft had several touch fouls not called and then two quick late when the game was nearly decided.. it was 15-8 at the time osu had a 10 pt lead. the gap closed at times but there was no consistancy.. su was not rewarded for being aggressive on offense while osu was.. it was 70-30 favoring osu when you look at what was not called and the spread of fouls.. also several cost su points.. as missed out of bounds calls added to that.. the game was overtaken by the refs.. when that happens usually one team gets the better deal and tonight it was osu.. in a 10 game series with the same refs.. it would vary back and forth.

It really is mind blowing how refs officiate on reputation and anticipation.

Craft should have fouled out about 10 possessions into the game the way they were calling things on every other guard.

refs tried to even up the foul calls in the final 8-10 mins of the game by calling some weak stuff on OSU. by then it was too late. we already had 4 players in major foul trouble.

Yeah, when they started FINALLY calling some stuff on Ohio State I was really wondering if Hathaway talked to them. It can't look good when you have JB turning and addressing you on TV, with the commentators talking about it - there was a change to the calls sometime after that moment. Instead of Ohio State getting every ridiculous call they were only getting 55-60%.

the trip and the sully elbow is where i lost it.. and yes they did even up the fouls with some ticky tack stuff.. but the damage was done already..

Bottom line is all year we have hardly ever had foul trouble. Tonight the entire team almost fouled out. Its absurd and unheard of. Literally every play resulted in a whistle when OSU had the ball. Our best defense was OSU missing a rare free throw.

Ohio State was shooting double bonus in the first half. When the has that ever happened, ever?

How much time left in the 2nd half when they were in the double bonus?

I said it in the chat room and I'll say it here. I don't normally complain about the refs...although they can be frustrating.

I really think that the refs were the major factor in deciding who won this game.

I'll put it simply. We won a lot of games this year because of our defense. Early in the game the refs were killing us with questionable calls on our D. We never were able to play the kind of defense that brought us to this point in the season.

They basically neutered the most effective aspect of our game.

It's true - suddenly we just turned into some foul-obsessed bunch of nitwits? I'm just shocked that there were so many calls where there was absolutely no-contact.

Rak to start the second half on that Sullinger turnaround. Literally no contact.

Every foul called on Keita.

The last two on Scoop..

I can't even continue...it hurts too much.

Yet, BT is called for a bogus charge and we get T'd up...

Must drink more...must...

agree...and like ive been saying the fouls being called every 45 seconds comepletly eliminated the chance for us to make it an up and down game

for all of your sanity dont rewatch the game... if you were upset with the kjo takedown.. this was much worse.. the 2 nd time around.. oh and sullys "fing bs" comment .. was right to the official as he walked by.. thats a t.. triches charge plus that.. different game.. the. 2nd half uggh.. i just hope for the remaining teams sake that crew doesnt work again next weekend

Yeah, that thing with Sullinger was pretty obvious and with the official 2 feet away. Seriously, I would never call that, UNLESS I was on the type of officiating crew that was going to T up Jim Boeheim for yelling after you morons just missed one of the most obvious calls ever - the other "most obvious calls ever" being the 14 other calls you people missed tonight.

Ohio State was called for literally two fouls where there was absolutely no contact with the offensive player. One of them caused Ohio State's best player to sit for 13 minutes in the first half. Ohio State had all sorts of touch fouls called on them in the second half just as Syracuse did.

Again, was it absolutely awful officiating? Yes. However... Ohio State had its fair share of screwy calls against them too. If you don't believe me, check out any neutral message board and see how fans thought, at certain points in the game, Ohio State was getting screwed too. The officiating was an equal opportunity hater.

JB should've just stayed in the coaches box and screamed "*****g BS" everytime the ref ran past him. Apparantly thats fine, BUT DONT YOU DARE LEAVE THE COACHES BOX!

I only checked one forum, Louisville, and they had multiple threads started commenting on how we were getting hosed.

Also, I don't think anyone disagrees on the Sullinger call (the second foul), but for the next 25 minutes can you give any examples of where Ohio State was screwed? Cuz most people here can get to double-digits that went against us. I'm talking OBVIOUS calls.

Make the list - please. It might help calm me down a bit. :)

no no no no

the majority of calls went against Cuse

we had major foul trouble with 7 minutes left in first half ... even more trouble with 12 minutes remaining... OSU did not have foul trouble until late in the game

they took us out of the game

Being +17 from the line begs to differ
