Head of NCAA officials John Adams

With all due respect, I'm not the one blaming the officials for a team losing...

Nobody is blaming them for the loss, some people may be, but they are blaming them for turning this game into a cluster where nobody can fairly assess who would have won.

And, you're still that kid in the example above...I have stats!!!! They don't lie!!!! lol

We had our coach talking to Hathaway as reported during the friggin telecast and an announcer refer to a foul as a "penny nickle". Literally I am in shock that you are over here trying to convince me game was officiated equally. Let me repeat...we never have foul trouble. Tonight our entire team almost fouled out. Keita apparantly breathes with the force of a hurricane wind since he never touched anyone on any of his fouls.

The stats are a heck of a lot more rational than the emotions...

12. They took 12 free throws in the final minutes. I've already double-checked.
What was your cut-off for the "final minutes"? I'd guess that we cut it to 1 with about 2:30 left.

Go back and watch the game and try to put your emotions aside. You'll find yourself realizing Rafferty said 'nickel and dime' for a ton of Ohio State fouls as well.

"a ton" seems a tad inaccurate

If OSU is your team it would have been classy if you came over here after a victory and said something like... good game. You guys gave us all we could handle.

To come over here and defend the refs in a game where many on this board think we lost in good part because of the officiating. Not the most diplomatic approach.

You deserve all the flak that you get.

kyle read my post and take heed of the disparity that occurred during the time when the disparity impacted the game significantly.. add to that the changes in approach by su and boeheim.. the fact they evened the calls late means little when the impact already was made.. 18-9.. that had us in serious foul trouble.. where we could not be as aggressive while sullinger was given free roam.. it does matter .. go below the box score ..

Yes, after our team was effectively neutered. You are correct.

I've expressed my sincere thoughts in another thread. However, I admit I'm not one to run away from something I don't agree with. Call it whatever you want... say I'm not being diplomatic or what have you... but I the officiating was pretty down the middle. Bad. Horrible. Disruptive. But down the middle. I'm not one to BS people. I'd rather just be honest. Hate me for it if you desire, but that's how I see it. And frankly, if you look at the non-partisan people, you'll see that's how most others saw it as well.

Nope. I cut it off only inside of one minute as that's when Syracuse started fouling intentionally.

12 free throws in the last 59 seconds.

Did you watch the game or are you just reading the box score?

Just because a game has a huge foul disparity it doesn't mean a game is officiated poorly, and when the fouls are even it doesn't mean it is officiated well. Bad calls are bad calls, and you either get that or you don't. And you're more than welcome to say you saw it differently.

Otherwise though, and this will simplify things for you, just copy and paste the box score and just keep quoting people with that as your replay with the caveat that you saw a bad call against Sullinger and you're very unhappy about that. We get it.

kyle with all due respect .. outside of the call on sullinger in the first half and the waiters dunk attempt.. you have to be able to see it for what it was.. add to that.. sully was over aggressive early.. the 2nd foul was coming anyways if you watched how he was forcing the issue. it was bad for both sides but su got the worst of it.. tell me how you dont see it that way ? in the 2nd half all of your key players played 20 mins.. we had 4 key players with 4 fouls.. there just is no way to get around that difference and impact...

How many times are you going to say the same thing? I'm actually proud to be an SU fan reading these civilized responses to your holier-than-thou "I'm rational and above an emotional response" broken record.

Kyle you are a UConn fan, correct? Don't you think it is rather poor form to come over arguing a contrary position shortly after an elite 8 loss? I wouldn't dream of going over to a rival's board after a tough loss unless I was there to agree with their POV. To do otherwise is just an attempt to get a lot of people pissed off. I think our fans have been rather civilized in allowing you to argue your points.

Kyle is an Ohio State fan. You will see him on some Big East boards responding usually to conference realignment topics.

He's entitled to his opinion. The officiating sucked both ways, but obviously the timing of the fouls definitely hindered us moreso than the Buckeyes.

My favorite is still the one where Sully tripped over his own two feet and Keita got called for throwing him off balance. The real foul by Keita occurred two moves before that as Sully tried to gain position.

Cheers,
Neil

That makes it even worse...you take your victory (thank the BB gods to yourself) and come over and say a few nice platitudes and leave.

Kyle, you seem like a good guy, but no matter what you say tonight it's a losing proposition. Enjoy your ff bid and come back when things sting less brother.

Read the play by play. In the first half SU had 11 fouls and Ohio St had 6.

Rakeem Christmas, our starting center, had 2 fouls with 11:22 left in the first half, James Southerland, a bench player had 2 fouls with 7:52 left having hardly played, and Dion also off the bench had 2 fouls by 7:30 left in the first half.

With 13 minutes left in the second half, Dion had 4 fouls while Rakeem got his 3rd and 4th after only 1 minute and 34 seconds had been played in the 2nd half. In the 2nd half SU had 6 more fouls called on us before Ohio State had their first foul even called with 13 minutes 8 seconds left to play. That means with just 13 minutes left to play in the game, SU had 17 fouls called on them vs 6 for Ohio State. The foul calls were totally lopsided.

It could have been a great game if both teams could have played, that's all. Congratulations but the facts are the facts. Play by play is below:
