This is kind of like the chicken or the egg argument. While I can not disagree that Hunt is the choice over Allen for this season, I still wonder if he is what we need to take the next step. It seems hard to tell though since our WR's are probably among the worst in D1 as a collective unit.

West is not a starter. He actually appears to be the worst of our entire bunch. Until they get Estime on the field and let him get some touches, we will continue to be a very predictable offense. Broyld and Estime need to play almost every snap. Same for Kobena. I could care less if the others ever play.

All i know is 8-24 with 3 INT and less than 100 yds passing is pathetic and things need to change.

PS - did we cut all of our TE's? They get no looks either. Baffling.

It's on the WR's 100%. There was no seperation on 95% of plays and the 5% was when Clemson blew coverage. Peyton Manning would've struggled if he was working with what Hunt was.

West is not a #1 WR, or even an outside WR but he does have some talent that could be better utilized on the inside routes vs safeties and LB's. We should not be looking at him as the guy to throw fade/go routes to. He's not being put in a spot where he can succeed at the moment.

The lack of TE use is perplexing to me as well. I've got no explanation there.

WR's are the problem. I talked myself into thinking Jarrod West was a legitimate #1 before the season started. After 5 games, I now know I lied to myself. Broyld & Estime need to get the ball. You get the ball to playmakers in space and let them go to work. Yes, Broyld dropped an easy 1st down pass, but at least he was able to get open. I hope KJ Williams is ready next year, because we need a lot of help at the WR position.

This shouldn't even be a question.

Broyld and Clark are the only WR's I trust right now. The fact Kobena and West were/will be allowed to continue playing is a flaw on McDonald.

i have beaten the "Estime Must Play" horse to death. Nothing has changed my mind on this. He should also be returning kicks for us. We get zero yardage on returns.

Clark ate up the high school teams we played. Was smothered on Saturday. I am not a fan of him either. Broyld is all we have honestly, which is why Estime and eve Funderburke need a chance. Our current guys are not getting it done.

We were arguing about this in the game chat. No way is this on Hunt. You know.. the QB who came in with less than 3 games of playing experience, with wide receivers that can't separate from a sloth. Also a less than stellar pass blocking offensive line. All against the number 3 team in the country, whose defensive backs probably have better hands than our wide receivers. All 3 of his interceptions were GREAT catches by the defending player.

We DID get to see the extent of Hunts mobility and it was actually really good. He ran for 57 yards which includes however many he lost on sacks. Showed really good pocket awareness and made good decisions on when to run. Although he has to stop trying to throw the ball away when he's practically already on the ground.

The WR's are the issue. Lining up outside, Broyld got open and picked up YAC's too.

Allen had a chance to move the ball on the back ups and was fine...but throwing that last interception instead of running for the 1st down was stupid. SU had two time outs remaining.

I agree...let's see Funderburk. He's big and athletic. Last year coaches loved him and the first team D said he gave them fits. This years coaches are saying he doesn't try.

Based on the low number of attempts, the number of scrambles, it's on the WRs.

Funny when Allen was in there it was his fault. Now that Hunt is in there its the WRs fault. With those same recievers Allen throw for a heck of a lot more yards and complete way more passes. yes he did throw many picks but so did Hunt in his first action against a good def. Just sayin.

Allen missed open receivers. Hunt didn't have open receivers. If Allen were the QB last night there would have been far, far more sacks and a couple less first downs.

Allen couldn't move the ball against Wagner. Enough said. Allen wasn't a dual threat. Allen's piss poor play against Penn State costed us that game. We were completely outgunned by Clemson we should have beaten Penn State. I call it the way I see it I could care less who starts but Hunt is better than Allen.

Clemson had bigger, faster, and more skilled players in many positions. Our WR's couldn't get any separation & the OL & DL played bigger guys all day while their WR's created large gaps with regularity with resulting big plays.

9 returning WR's next year. Yet the staff goes after Cooper, Williams, Ishmael, Custis...tells you what the staff thinks about the unit right now.

How did Allen do against Clemson's back ups?

I also assign part of the blame to the play calling. We tried a little razzle-dazzle after we were way behind, but overall we were too predictable with Smith repeatedly running the ball off-tackle on 1st down. Also, the couple of times we tried to stretch the field with long passes, they were woefully under-thrown. Not having to worry too much about the deep ball made Clemson's cover schemes underneath a lot easier.

I said this before but maybe he has the same issue Sales did in that he's just not a practice player (though apparently he gave our 1st team D fits in practice last year. I agree we need to see him in a game. Maybe he'll step up when the lights are on. He at least has the physical tools. I think West would be fine as an inside receiver (provided he learns to adjust his routes to the yard markers). There is a reason our new coaching staff went WR crazy with their recruiting.

Yes the same Allen that got the start against Wagner and got benched after three 3 and outs to start the game and was replaced by Hunt who lead us on 6 (7?) straight TD drives. Had Allen shown anything early vs Wagner he'd still have the starting job. It's obvious the coaches wanted to give him every chance. This is also the same Allen that threw an INT in the endzone, against backups, to end the Clemson game. Remember how critical everyone was of Hunt's TD drive v NW because it was against their 3rd string defense? Of the 12 runs Hunt made with noone open, how many of those do you suppose Allen would've ran on vs throwing into coverage?

You know what pissed me off the most. Lets look past the illegal forward pass on the Broyld passback to Hunt, but i believe it was Clark who TOTALLY whiffed on his block. That play (again disregard the flag) would have gone for good yardage, instead, Clake whiffs the block, and its a zero yard gain.

Passes to the flat are busts. No one can block and they all end up as no gain or loss. The double pass to Hunt would have beeh a big gainer if the blocker leading the way didn't wiff on the block. Sorry Orange in Jersey just read your post. I promised I didn't plagerize.
