I think its time for a discussion

agree but su isn’t running a charity and we can’t fill a roster with players that don’t play. Would you hire someone to stay home and not work? It’s easy to give away things that isn’t yours. I feel for the kid but he’s taking a spot away from someone that could actually help the team and he’s not the only one.
You obviously have no idea how the scholarship system works by the ignorance of your post. Scholarships are granted for four years. Not for the time that a player may or may not be an effective member of the team or at the whim of fans. If and when he is DQed he will continue to retain a scholarship from SU.

Additionally, according to the NCAA ruling, this is a free year and all players can return and it will not effect the 85 cap.

Dino needs to can movie and Ohana BS. Hes a little too cool for school. Time for him to earn his keep. 4m a year buys a hell of a coach. The rest of this year is going to speak volumes about his leadership qualifications.
Im still sold on him just hope hes got some saddle to go with what so far is mostly hat.
All hat and no cattle. Which is looking appropriate.

wow thanks for the scholarship lesson. So when marrone and Dino ran players off that wasn’t an issue but this kid that has a problem should receive a pass. Such a hypocrite.

When Marrone was coach scholarships weren't granted for four years. The P5 only agreed to not allow schools to cancel multi year scholarships in 2015.
And who exactly did Babers run off? Shafer Kids who hadn't signed an LOI yet?

SU can and will recruit well. Top 35 -40 each year. Need recruiters. Need some wins. Facilities are not the issue. Location isnt the issue.
I don’t follow it closely. When’s the last time SU finished top 40? 1997?

other than changing both coordinators, firing his daughters father in law, clearly having his best class of commits lined up, changing defenses, and playing over 20 freshmen even before the injuries, he’s just been standing pat and doing crossword puzzles in his office.
This...
Massive changes in the offseason last year followed up by a pandemic inability to reasonably implement those new offensive and defensive schemes. Add in the unfortunate injuries and here we are. The recruiting has improved substantially since last fall. Unfortunately, we won't see that translate for a couple of years. However, all those Fr./So. playing now become So./Jr. with legitimate playing experience.

here is our new recruiting policy. Give me your tired, your poor, Your huddled masses yearning to breathe. Just add in broken down. It’s a whole new world forget winning as long as you feel good about it.

I think that is the point. All that and nothing to show for it. Hiring an OC to run the same plays with all the same confusion is just a total lack of "thinking outside of the box". As for the recruiting, "best class" is in the eye of the beholder. To have to play 20 freshman because of "injuries" is a direct link to coaching and the S&C program. Maybe, just maybe he is standing pat and playing crossword puzzles in his office.

but it will effect the cap going forward.. the SRs can come back fine.. but if everyone comes back with an extra yr that also means that you keep the same group of kids for an extra yr and you could in reality not flip the roster for 1 more yr..

1. Evaluate the roster and find homes for players who will never contribute.
2. Re-examine everything about recruiting - who they target and who takes the primary roles in bringing prospective recruits home.
3. Look very hard at JUCO & transfers for immediate help.
4. Re-evaluate strength & conditioning as far too many players end up hurt.
5. Related to #4, learn how other programs are running practices so we don't end up with half the OL gone before the season starts.
6. Make some hard decisions about which assistants are truly able to help turn this around, regardless of whether they have been there forever or were just hired.
In regards to #1 all scholarships are guaranteed for four years. The P5 doesn't allow for schools to cancel multi-year scholarships.

He was/is never going to change the offense. Thinking he would hire an OC to install a new system is foolish. He was brought here to run his offense. We have seen big differences on defense. The system is completely different and is definitely creating more pressure. We haven't taken advantage of the opportunities the defense has given the offense. We're giving up a bunch of yards on the ground. That's a combination of the youth at linebacker and the trade off we have right now in the system. If we can get/keep good lineman in front of the LBs that'll improve in successive years.

Playing 20 freshman this year has nothing to do with the incoming class, it has to do with previous classes and optouts. We wouldn't be playing as much youth at RB had our junior and senior stayed. I doubt S&C has anything to do with the injuries at safety. We've never had that problem before. Maybe S&C has something to do with the injuries the oline, but I'm guessing it's overstated. Did we have that many injuries the there the first three years? The biggest problem there is whiffing on recruits. We have a huge class coming in next year. They need to be able to come in and fix it, but probably not next year, more likely the year after.

The strength of this recruiting class is not just in the eye of the beholder. It's also in the eyes of the rating services and offer sheets. Is it elite? No, but it is the best we've done in a long time.

I'm sure the NCAA will come back with some solution for the cap.

perfect another 2 win season in our future but hey they are good kids.

We're still 2nd to last in the ACC when it comes to recruiting for 2021 with 1 4 star prospect. That's not going to win games, and 4 years from now we'll be in the same position we're currently in. Going from really bad to bad isn't going to win more games.

We have a higher rated class than the last 2 years though. The ACC as a whole is recruiting better. And if you can’t watch the tape of a lot of these kids and clearly see we are getting more talent then idk what to tell you.

What I’m wondering is how many of these kids are truly injured and unable to play... I get it with Tommy there’s no questioning him. But the others? How many of these kids would be suiting up if we were 4-1? Can’t remember these injuries 2 years ago when we were 10-3 and the entire line was healthy. I think we have some soft kids and there’s no question (going back to point #1) that Dino needs to find a new home for them and replace them via the portal

I agree with that looking at White and Chip, I’m just saying Dino’s not returned W’s. Season ticket sales are about to be morbid heading into 2021.
Yeah the dollar per win invested is just awful at this point.

Well said. Who was it that said “Sarcasm is the weapon of the weak”?
I think SU has a lot of young talent, and I believe next year’s recruiting class is probably the best overall in 20 years. I think White has done a great job. Teams will start to figure out our weaknesses, that’s going to happen. But these talented young players will grow into these roles. I have concerns on O. We can’t wait for 2021 recruits to mature the guys here have to make it happen, or we need Juco help. This year is going to be a struggle.

Yeah, I also kind of question the premise behind this post, since he just did that, bringing in 2 new coordinators. This is an awful season for that, with spring and summer prep all messed up by coronavirus - and don't forget, the players went on strike twice this summer about having more testing before the school went ahead and approved it. I think that did something to chemistry behind that scenes.

If you're talking about this year's freshmen, I think they're a good group. The year before was a pretty good group, too (Cisco, for instance, and Szymt, two AA's). This year's recruiting class - not yet on campus - doesn't look quite as good as the last 2 classes.

We really loaded up on the linemen, which is good and necessary, but we have whiffed (again) on QBs and WRs. I think we've had some good backs in the program. It's hard to believe Adams may already be gone.

We have recruited well enough, historically speaking, to be at least a .500 team. I put this on the coaching, and the S&C program. So many guys getting hurt every year, it seems.
