"It's also in the eyes of the rating services and offer sheets. Is it elite? No, but it is the best we've done in a long time." So the class was ranked 2nd to last in the ACC. What makes you think this class will produce any more wins? It's the best SU has had since Dino arrived and it is still bad according to all the services. I know the "coach" speak about we don't go by the rating services however, all the elite teams have 4&5 star players and that is a fact.He was/is never going to change the offense. Thinking he would hire an OC to install a new system is foolish. He was brought here to run his offense. We have seen big differences on defense. The system is completely different and is definitely creating more pressure. We haven't taken advantage of the opportunities the defense has given the offense. We're giving up a bunch of yards on the ground. That's a combination of the youth at linebacker and the trade off we have right now in the system. If we can get/keep good lineman in front of the LBs that'll improve in successive years.
Playing 20 freshman this year has nothing to do with the incoming class, it has to do with previous classes and optouts. We wouldn't be playing as much youth at RB had our junior and senior stayed. I doubt S&C has anything to do with the injuries at safety. We've never had that problem before. Maybe S&C has something to do with the injuries the oline, but I'm guessing it's overstated. Did we have that many injuries the there the first three years? The biggest problem there is whiffing on recruits. We have a huge class coming in next year. They need to be able to come in and fix it, but probably not next year, more likely the year after.
The strength of this recruiting class is not just in the eye of the beholder. It's also in the eyes of the rating services and offer sheets. Is it elite? No, but it is the best we've done in a long time.
SU can and will recruit well. Top 35 -40 each year. Need recruiters. Need some wins. Facilities are not the issue. Location isnt the issue.
Devito is at least a D1 QB, outside of Taj where the hell are the WRs. We looked like Army or Navy passing the ball out there. That is 100% on Dino, the Skill position recruiting has been abysmal.
Perhaps you need to stop looking at someone's child as a commodity. My guess is you don't know much about any of these kids.
The minute these kids are rated they are a commodity. They are given a scholarship to play a sport.Perhaps you need to stop looking at someone's child as a commodity. My guess is you don't know much about any of these kids.
This is a really frightening way to think about things. The minute these kids are rated they are a commodity. They are given a scholarship to play a sport.
Only if you never read the recruiting forum.Friendly reminder: This is a *sports fan* board.
We are not SUPPOSED to know about all of these kids' families, etc.
It's rating services that have a number of our commits graded higher than anyone we've had in a decade or so. We definitely need to develop guys better. Where Dino says freshman are playing because of injuries, he has to be referring to the secondary. The only other place we have had an abundance of injuries is the oline and we're not playing freshman there, at least in the starting line up. Have we played back ups there at all?"It's also in the eyes of the rating services and offer sheets. Is it elite? No, but it is the best we've done in a long time." Dino specially said that a lot of freshman are playing because of injuries. Only 3 players opt out of this season, so that has very little impact on why so many freshman playing. Since Dino has been SU, the team has had way more injuries then any other coach I can remember. It's not wrong to question this and I will not make assumptions of why that is happening and not guess that anything is "overstated".
I personally don't have an issue with the D. I love they way they fly around and play aggressive. I do feel that their tackling technique has issues whether it is wrapping up the player or taking the wrong angle. That is on coaching and make me wonder if they even review the game film on Monday mornings with the team.
He’ll get his chances to turn this around, this year or next. If it’s still a dumpster fire in 2022, then he’s done.1. Evaluate the roster and find homes for players who will never contribute.
2. Re-examine everything about recruiting - who they target and who takes the primary roles in bringing prospective recruits home.
3. Look very hard at JUCO & transfers for immediate help.
4. Re-evaluate strength & conditioning as far too many players end up hurt.
5. Related to #4, learn how other programs are running practices so we don't end up with half the OL gone before the season starts.
6. Make some hard decisions about which assistants are truly able to help turn this around, regardless of whether they have been there forever or were just hired.

It's hard as a fan to accept 3 years ago, we beat Clemson at home, lost in the final minutes 2 years ago at Clemson. This year we probably will be 6 or 7 touchdown underdogs if they have a line.
The program is headed in the wrong direction, and Dino needs to be held accountable.
A pet peeve of mine. What does this even mean? You want him fired? Toenails pulled out slowly?
It assumes that he's not being held accountable, which I think it probably bunk.
For all the talk about La Familia & ohana, I agree, there sure does seem to be some chemistry issues the last couple of years.I think that's about right. This year is gone because of COVID.
Next year he gets another shot. If we suck again, then it's time for a new search.
I hate to say it, because I really like the guy, and he has shown "flashes" (LOL).
But it's taking its toll. I believe that chemistry is bad on this team.
And why are so damn many people getting hurt?
First year coaches are still allowed to, kids can still go to school free but are off the team, I'm pretty sure herm and our DC did this at ASU, if qadir has a medical issue that is preventing him from playing it should be treated the same as someone who is ruled out from concussions, kid keeps the scholarship maybe become a coach but the spot opens up.You obviously have no idea how the scholarship system works by the ignorance of your post. Scholarships are granted for four years. Not for the time that a player may or may not be an effective member of the team or at the whim of fans. If and when he is DQed he will continue to retain a scholarship from SU.
Additionally, according to the NCAA ruling, this is a free year and all players can return and it will not effect the 85 cap.
I think some guys who were just contributors on the 2018 team got some new egos along with everyone else, look up the mike leach postgame speech after they WON ripping his guys for being that way when he was at texas tech, program seems to have some bad chemistry issues every since maryland last yearFor all the talk about La Familia & ohana, I agree, there sure does seem to be some chemistry issues the last couple of years.
Thank you but I know how it works. And that decision is up to the coaching staff not a bunch of fans on a sports forum.First year coaches are still allowed to, kids can still go to school free but are off the team, I'm pretty sure herm and our DC did this at ASU, if qadir has a medical issue that is preventing him from playing it should be treated the same as someone who is ruled out from concussions, kid keeps the scholarship maybe become a coach but the spot opens up.
We're with Vandy, that's a nice peer institution. For academics.
Winning fixes everythingHow can you say location isn't an issue. We have to go 6 hours for players. Who was the last P5 QB from the region, Paulus?
SU can and will recruit well. Top 35 -40 each year. Need recruiters. Need some wins. Facilities are not the issue. Location isnt the issue.
And then become an NFL talent at WR.
Are we behind Rutgers, Pitt, BC? honest question, I have 0 ideaIn my opinion, facilities/money are always the issue.
We have improved and will continue to improve, but we are still pretty far behind nearly all of our competitors.
