If I were the AD

If you have taken a position pro-SS or fire-SS by now(myself included) you are just as annoying as Red/Blue politics.
What sucks is that the fire-SS are attacked as un-supportive of the SU program like Democrats were unpatriotic for not supporting whatever war.
If our AD thinks the staying the course is the right play he owns this mess and loses a lot of benefit of the doubt if it fails. Thinking SS is a good man but not the guy to be HC is NOT sacrilegious. 13-22 should NEVER get you more money as SU FB HC.

If I were the AD and I was new to SU football, if probably wonder what bang for my buck I'm getting with a defensive head coach when we've given up 570 yards for 3 straight games. And realizing that the D HC was the DC for the 4 years prior. I'd wonder how we got here?

And even if I bought into some of the rationalizations (career ending injuries, early defections, team rules violations), I'd think that if I'm going to have to suffer thru bad D, I might as well get an O guru to run the show and see if we can't at least keep up.

Came into today ranked 115 in the country in net yards per game, negative 106. And were outgained by 250. Only one P5 team is worse, Kansas.

This. Don't get me wrong players were awesome yesterday and Mahoney deserves a scholarship. The decision has already been made based on the body of work over 3 years, not just one moral victory game. We have a HC that hires friends and puts them in coaching positions where they have no experience - strategic error making on his part and well documented. Shafer in game tactical decision making is questionable even this game why did we punt in the 4th quarter down 10? The telltale sign the jig was up was when Shafer disclosed he only had a 4 year contract - why did he disclose this last week?

Ask yourself this question - Coyle, who played college football himself, hired Harisin who runs an up tempo quasi spread offense. I'm still trying to figure out the identity of our offense - quasi option hback pass scramble backwards run attack? What.

Shafer clearly understands that in the business of college football it's wins and losses that is the bottom line. So if I were the AD the decision although never easy is fairly clear. We never had the money before to do any better than hire OCs & DCs while in the BE with no choice but to try and catch lightning in a bottle. No exCUSE now.

Enjoy the moral highground of the "he's a nice guy" and "the kids really like him camp". When reality sets in, I hope it was worth it.
so you assume that I want to keep Shafer? I think that the fire Shafer crowd has gone way over the top, it's non stop. The board has just about become unreadable because it's the same thing over and over and over.

Well then what is a forum for? A pep rally?

I was responding to a specific ridiculous comment.

Yes

At least you're honest. :)

LSU may have some but Clemson didn't overlook us at all. They tried everything and went balls to the wall. They certainly didn't play vanilla and their QB had over 400 yards of offense.,

I don't think LSU overlooked us, they just played win and advance.

They gave up almost 600 yds and that's a best day of the season?

I would say that's conclusive right there.

Bent, but didn't break regardless of the yardage given up.

I think Coyle has already made up his mind about Shafer.

I think he needed to do that by about the six game mark to have a real footing for owning the change process and having a pool of candidates to choose from.

I think Shafer had an uphill climb from the day Coyle was hired.

I think Coyle's decisive and aggressive pursuit of a new coach will be refreshing for our fan base.

All the above are my opinion with no inside information.

Has anyone ever heard a college coach tell the media that another HC isn't the right guy to lead a program? I'm sure his fellow coaches like Shafer, we all like Shafer, and frankly some of them probably feel he's a guy they want to see on the opposite sideline.

Again, great effort, take nothing away from yesterday, but when 550 yards of offense is the best game played by the defense all year, and 80 yards passing has people calling for more patience, I don't understand why.

The board has become and continued to be just about unreadable since it started.

I actually don't think LSU is a great team. They are clearly a large step below Clemson.
You take Fournete (sp) out of the LSU equation amd they're a normal LSU team. Just like Bama showed the world. One horse wonders.

I think Arkansas showed it even more yesterday, in Baton Rouge. If LSU doesn't get a very lucky bounce on that first TD, that game is even uglier.

Is there any coach in America whose teams improve more as the season wears on than Bielema? Of course, starting horrible helps set that early bar low.

I don't think much has changed on the board since those thrilling days of early 2012 season. Only difference is nobody was defending Marrone for his great personality!

Ah, those were the days.

The death by a thousand cuts offense :D
Talented QB who knows the offense and has lots of receivers to throw to ... Stevens, Wales and Lemon and Sales open almost every play.
