Absolutely. Do you not?
Of course not.
I’d love to see the resumes of those who post on here to see which ones have any sort of qualifications that might suggest anyone would take them seriously on this very complex decision.

While I agree that most of us posters don't away any decisions at SU, I will strongly argue that CTO and a few others have significant impact on what SU does. I would further argue that CTO and a few others fully understand the details of what we see and the details of what we do not see, they are well connected and very involved at the highest levels.

Hell yeah! I mean you post here and unless there's some other reason unbeknownst to man, JB stays in that zone 100% of the time. ;):)

I have confidence in JB. He’s the expert. He sees these kids every day they practice or play and has 44 years of experience.

I understand his strategies based on what he has written and said.

Of course all sports message boards are filled with guys who would like you to believe they know better or think they could do better.

That may be true. But, being “connected” and knowing some or much of what is going on is different than being able to influence a decision like this.

You've seen her name on placards at SU right? I mean, if that doesn't bring a bit of influence, I'm not sure what does...

AD is a weird job. I met the former UMASS interim AD in a bar in Jackson WY and couldn’t figure out how he got the job I think a former fraternity brother was a higher up in their administration and knew he’d be a good fit and asked him to help. He did a better job than the guy before or after. Somehow got a 2 for 1 from BYU with the 2 games in MA and their football used give the big names a tough game now and then.

The current AD and the last two for a fact listen to people, donors, some that are here. Coyle for instance really needed to since he was so unfamiliar with the landscape. Once he figured it out he left.

Lots of donors on here, you think? Or people of influence? But

Influence? Maybe. But influence on what?

How JBs replacement is handled requires a lot of thought and a lot of information. Wildhack doesn’t have the luxury of fantasies about this being a top 5 job as some posters have suggested.

Yeah, feel like further speculation on this topic might get me a timeout, and will do nothing to convince you of anything anyway, so I'm going to say peace out on this.

I'll let others who feel a bit more comfortable with this subject carry on the good fight.

That's exactly the kind of luxury he has!

No. He doesn’t have the luxury of fantasies.

Once Wildhack starts this process in earnest, he —- and whoever else is going to be involved — has to determine who the internal and external candidates will be. It’s popular to use a consultant to feel out who would be interested and what they might require so that the school only gets involved with those who are possibilities.

There’s plenty of room for input at every stage. But only credible sources will be listened to seriously.

We all should have fantasies! When Wildhack is all alone at night, the TV is off, I'm sure he fantasize about all sorts of stuff. He has that luxury! He's living a good life!
Like you with JB, and what if he got his wish and we never left Manley - you may not be able to devote all your time to such things, but when you're by yourself, and nobody is around, it's quiet, and dark, you have the luxury of those fantasies! It's your time!!!!

Oh dear Lord. That’s certainly not an image I needed or that will easily be erased.

Perhaps instead of crazy, it's more of a reflection of the league being considerably down this year. At this moment, IMO, it appears the league has 3 locks, Louisville, Duke and FSU. It appears that UVA now resides with the "rest of the pack" and nowhere near the sure thing type sentiment JB gave the impression they were in his post game presser after the season's opening game.

Out of this cluster, we could finish as high as 4th in the league to as low as 10th or so, without there really being much at all that separates any of those teams. I'm not sure what these other teams out of conference records are against other quality P5 type opponents, etc., but I know ours is bad. With that said, I could easily see a case where if we finish 4th or 5th in the conference, a team finishing say 7th or 8th could get in over us depending on its OOC record, quality wins, etc.

I think at the end of the season we'll be in our too familiar ACC tournament Nooner on Wednesday in the 8 vs noine game.

I just wish he would stop bringing his arms and hands over the defender and the guy going up through them for the foul. It happens 4 times a game for almost 20 games now. Then he complains. Does he watch the tape to see what he is doing? He has no awareness and positioning.

If you can see that I'm sure the alleged big man coach must have.

I mean boeheim tells him every time. You can read his lips...don’t ever do that again. And repeat.

I imagine he just isn’t strong enough...gets bodied and his hands collapse down but man it’s like banging your head against a wall.

The fantasies I'm talking is about are being able to replace JB with Jay Wright, Tony Bennett, or Red Auerbach. Or any currently highly successful P5 coach. He has to deal in the realm of the probable.

When you start looking at this list and the disruption that a major change in strategy and direction would have, the current assistants look better by comparison.

Glad you mentioned Red Auerbach's name. I'm firmly in his camp as my candidate of choice

Well, why stop at Jay Wright? Might as well include the greatest basketball coach ever in the mix. His status of being dead shouldn't bother us. After all, we draw big crowds for home games.
