Nick Monroe will serve as Interim Defensive Coordinator for Syracuse football's Pinstripe Bowl matchup with Minnesota later this month, according to a report from News Channel 9's Steve Infanti. Monroe was previously the Defensive Passing Game Coordinator under Tony White, who is leaving to take the Defensive Coordinator position at Nebraska.

I would not be surprised if Nick is promoted to full time DC considering his experience with Babers and success in recruiting. As well as a promotion, he needs a raise and a newer Mustang

This is what I'm hoping for. Changes are inevitable, and we're lucky there was an offensive coach-in-waiting to replace Anae. Unfortunately it's clear that many defensive players are stunned. Their tweats and Wilson's departure are perhaps signals that the AD needs to hire a talented/335-competent DC. This would (help to) plug up the portal and keep recruiting momentum going.

Nick is a fine coach and knows his stuff. Smart whitty dude. The players love him. Keep in mind Dino wanted specifically the 3-3-5. He needed someone outside the circle to implement it. So I can see why Nick was passed up after Ward got fired.

We lost the DC last time around. I'm sure that if something were official, we would know. The deal may be done in principle, but I doubt it is signed yet. Also, Syracuse and Dino don't have a ton of leverage on this one and you can bet Beck is getting multiple offers. Time isn't on our side hopefully this is done today

It's a tricky situation for Coach Dino and AD Wildhack. There is the need to replace the coordinators which is more urgent than replacing an assistant coach.
Then there is the urgent need to secure the recruiting class. Suddenly, SU isn't just looking to bolster the class via hs and the portal; it is scrambling to keep the verbal commits in place.
Maybe there is no word because the coaches are visiting Sellers, Perry, etc. and just haven't had time to finalize deals with coordinators.

No disrespect to Swag, but it still seems like there's damage on the defensive side that's not being addressed - including players who feel betrayed and anxious about the future. Since we don't have a defensive 'Jason Beck' on staff it would go along way if we hired a name DC that can run the 335. Swag is a recruiting ace who is liked by the players. But it's a tall order to ask him to run the 335 against ACC opponents, hold onto the defensive talent we have and continue to bring in defensive recruits. The fact that our D-players are not happy ...is a sign that the AD should be making a bigger move here.

I'm not going to dispute that Beck is getting multiple offers, but why is that any different than if Anae was still here? He's a known commodity. We are in a better position now than if Anae was still here.

The fact that it has been reported by numerous media outlets and more importantly by Sellers is all positive news. These are 7 figure contracts, and they take time. If as others have said this was pre-determined, we wouldn't be waiting. I think Bob threw everyone a curve ball and I don't think he was asked to leave. SU is pretty proud of its money and i doubt that they would pay Bob a full year to leave.

They do for sure and I get that. I’m almost not going gloom and doom here. But it is a little nerve wracking if this hasn’t actually been finalized and other schools are sniffing around. That’s my only worry until it’s a done deal. It’s happened to us before and happens all the time.

and the lawyers have to go over everything and lock down the details. They've only been in the office a few hours.
