Jayden Bellamy transferring to UCF

I agree with everyone that he’s not a guy you’d wanna lose but in today’s game stuff like this happens. He’s not a star or irreplaceable by any means. In the past this one would sting but with Fran I just see it as another opportunity. We’ve been late to that game but I think we finally have the cards to play it. Just my 2 cents

Bellamy took Greenwood’s place for infuriating source of big plays. We need upgrades in the secondary.

This is where pff loses me because I witnessed this all in the dome.

If you're thinking about this as a GM, there's a very short list of guys on the roster that at this point have significant VAR (value above replacement).

WR Pena
WR Ross-Simmons
DT Watson
DT Perry

That's it. You have to pay those 4 guys and keep them for next season. Everyone else you can in theory gamble with. There's a long list of guys that are nice to have (including Barnes and Bellamy), but those are the only four that an NFL GM would say "we cannot afford to lose this guy because I can't replace him."

We have 5 freshman CBs coming in, I believe. Any chance they are ready? I would prefer we get a couple portal CBs with experience.

Kerr I’m fairly certain started the Miami game but Bellamy replaced him as Miami went after him. Bellamy played was solid against Miami but don’t see this being much different than losing Wilson the season before.

That’s the game Bellamy came back after missing the prior 2 due to injury. Probably why he didn’t start.

Did pff lose you after they had Lewis as our best and he went on to be all ACC 3rd team? Bellamy also had the second lowest percentage of missed tackles, led the team in INTs with 2 (not a strong suit for the DB) and was 2nd in pass breakups.

If you look at portal stuff you would think every school has an infinite amount NIL money since you doubt most are leaving for less?

How long can that go on at most schools?

Fran said he doesn’t like freshman playing their first game at the college level. If they’re dogs, they can do it.

I think they made it clear that a lot of the young guys are going to play next year regardless so I'm not too worried about it. Samuel and Singleton will probably both start (Samuel at Safety) both Kerr brothers will play a ton, Delaine is still around as a vet (for now) they're high on Ibn Mcdaniels as well. A lot of bodies in the room still with a lot of talent.
Ibn physically reminds me of Iffy. Melifonwu I hope he has a similar game.

In my opinion, the dumber the fanbase, the higher the NIL. So, it favors the southeastern schools.

Yet Michigan and OSU are both at the top of the heap. Must be smarter than those Midwest schools.

I am going to guess there is an enormous amount of players shooting themselves in the foot -- where their current school offers them say $100k, they get with their agent and demand $200k, the school balks, they get in the portal and don't get nearly the interest they thought they would and end up portaling to a different school for only $50k.

It's a sad situation for both parties because if you're Fran you absolutely cannot risk sitting there saying "well Calvin Russell was willing to commit but we couldn't afford him because we caved to the demands of Jayden Bellamy and Marcellus Barnes."

Yea there are only a couple Ryan Williams who can enter the portal only to up the NIL amount that his current school is willing to pay. Brilliant move on him, but there may be 2 or 3 Ryan Williams caliber players in CFB.

Losing Barnes I was bummed about. I’m ok with replacing Bellamy. If it means a legit chance at Calvin Russel then even better.

Alot of these players are bag chasers and will transfer 4 or 5 times to different schools each time thus watering down the product of college sports.

Someone should do an expose on how much agent nonsense is going on.

Which young DBs do you think we will see in the bowl?
