Jeff Nixon interviews for Texans OC

That piece doesn’t note that Klubiak took the Seattle job. If Chip says no, this could really go to Nixon.
It was written yesterday. Not sure if that means Kelly was not interested, the Texans were just doing due diligence or what.

Agree if Jeff gets offered this job, I would expect him to accept. It would be a great opportunity for him.

Hoping the Texans go in another direction and the Nixon family has a chance to spen a special year together at Syracuse.

I’m honestly surprised he doesn’t have more interest.
This feels like an opportunity you pick up the phone for. If there was other interest from programs, he might’ve told his agent he wasn’t interested.

I get it, he's working from a position of strength. He and McCord blew apart our record book. He had the #1 passer in college football by yarfage.

He's probably got good buzz right now.
Bingo, you have to strike while the iron is hot. My buddy is an OC in the NFL, he went from getting HC interviews last year to possibly losing his job this year. That's how it works.

Also, most coaches want to be in the NFL. More pay for less work. Coaches hate recruiting and NIL...

There is no amount of money we can pay him to get him to turn down a NFL OC job. They pay more period and it is a ticket to greater rewards down the road.

Shouldn’t be hard to double or triple the salary.

Seriously, Jeff Nixon is probably the second most important part of this puzzle. Second only to Fran Brown. We couldn't possibly beat a great NFL offer. Anything short of that, we need to keep him on board.

Hopefully his kids being here get us an extra year or two.

Being OC for an NFL franchise with a proven QB is a no brainer.

Would he a huge loss but the offense is going to look way different with a mobile QB.

Nobody should blame him if he takes an NFL OC job. I really think he is a huge difference as a playcaller as the OC.

He was tremendous this season. That said he had a QB that allowed him to dig deep into his bag of experience. IF he's back it will be interesting to see the scheme without MCCord.

Exactly. There is no rational argument for him not to take this job if offered, other than we’re Syracuse fans and don’t want to lose him

He's the best play caller since George. Maybe better as George had twice the talent.
Losing Nixon would be a terrible blow.

.
My mind immediately went to George McDonald instead of Deleone for some reason and I thought - wow that's one of your wilder H0T Takes.

Every coach out there needs to strike while the iron is hot. Their window can close in such a hurry. Almost nobody turns down opportunities that increase your salary by 2x or 3x. Nixon is in a strange spot with both his kids attending Syracuse next year but you never know.

Nixon is the sole reason both of the most important ppl in his life (his children) are at cuse. That’s a big help for us, let’s see how it plays out. These are the situations that happens when you have a good staff and team, it comes with the territory! Hopefully if we have to replace him we are more sought after now by legit proven coordinators and we can replace easier. He is going to be very tough to replace though if that’s the direction he chooses.
