Jeff Nixon interviews for Texans OC

Would suck to loose Nixon but I remember a number of people being critical when he was hired for lack of oc experience. He turned out to be a really good hire.
I have faith in Fran if he has to replace Nixon he will make another good hire.

I would be a little surprised if he left before his son is out of eligibility personally
Agreed. It’s good experience and good buzz to go on NFL interviews but hard to imagine any coach walking away from opportunity to coach their son AND see his daughter play soccer.

So those thinking that his kids going to SU could stop him from moving on , that's unlikely. If that was the case he would not have interviewed in the first place. If he accepts, he would just move to the new market and I would wager his family would stay here the next year while finishing school, probably putting their house on the market the following spring. Nixon would have plenty of money to buy a condo until the family moved to whichever NFL market he landed in. While it would suck as a fan, wish the man well.
Does anyone know how many coaches buy houses in the area? These guys move around so much, and I couldn't imagine going through that process semi-frequently

I think the majority do.

Rocky Long is the only noteworthy coach of late that I can recall who did NOT buy a place.

I’d imagine coaches families are like army families -
They get used to and good at moving, and probably have things pared down to make the inevitable easier.

Conversely - we last moved 6+ years ago, and still have a ton of shite in boxes and bins just taking up space.
Rookies.

What does this mean? Mine are usually hanging loose.

Yes, you are a rookie ;-)
We moved 15 years ago and still have lots of boxes in the garage #silly (not stupid)

When we moved 11 years ago I informed my wife that the next time I move it will be into a box of my own.

Yeah, this.

We moved 2x in 3 years, 2016 & 2019, which sucked royal.
But we do love our new/current home.
(and were incredibly fortunate to get in just months before the pandemic)

Now - the only way I'm moving out again is toes up under a sheet.

We moved once but I kept my old place and my wife kept her two old places. It's hard to know what we have where. For example, ski boots in one place, skis in another. Tucson home is larger than the three other very small ones combined. We cover 3 states; AK, AZ, CA.

I have one more move (besides the eternal one). In about ten years, last kid will be out of college and I'll be ready to retire (hopefully). Can't wait to get out of the Atlanta area and move to someplace less crowded. Soooo sick of the traffic and congestion. That will be a happy move for me.

My move out of Atlanta wasn't so bad as it was before my wife and I had kids and all of their stuff. Still, not a lot of fun.

Per Steve Infanti of Cuse Sports Talk, he said he spoke with a colleague from the Houston Texans and Will Nixon is not their priority target.

If true, too bad for Nixon.

Good for us.

But regardless of outcome, evidence that Nixon's capabilities are being noticed by the NFL, and that he is a desirable candidate to jump back to the bigs in the near future.
