Jackson is the best shooter in the country and Swider shot 40% this year. No team is matching that.

Joe getting to 35% or Benny/Jimmy being a consistent deep threat is gravy.

I know some will appreciate my word choice
So, you're expecting us to fill the role of Baylor next year. Sure.

Huh
Baylor was the best 3pt shooting team in the country last year with over 41% made from 3. Buddy may have ended the season as the best shooter (or close enough), but he didn't start that way. And you are saying the addition of Cole will put is up on top, correct?

Cole has a proven track record, so I think we can expect him to shoot high 30s, at minimum, approaching 40%. Ditto Buddy.

Joe hasn't shot as well as we need him to. If he can improve / show better shot selection, then he might be around 35%. Can Jimmy match that? How will Benny shoot?

We might be a pretty good three point shooting team, with those raw materials. But I'd hesitate to call them the best in college basketball, with 1 being completely unproven at our level, 1 being a true frosh, and a 3rd not having shot the ball impressively to date over the first two years of his career.

All very reasonable points. I hope we improve from our team 33% shooting and move up, but again, want to see the players on the floor before I start to believe it's happening.

Joe and Cole have roughly the same sample size. Why are we banking on Cole's track record being accurate yet Joe is going to, all of a sudden, improve?

We will have as much top level shooting as any team in the country idk if we’ll have the best %

Being the best shooter doesn’t mean you have the best percentage. The 2016-17 Warriors were third in the NBA in 3P% and had three of the best shooters to ever touch a basketball lmao

I didn't say that Joe was going to improve. Hopefully he will.

But Cole has shot 40% for the year, playing against high major competition -- so that's a good barometer of his capabilities.

Joe has shot ~32%. Not an impressive total. Hence, why I posted what I did about him not being someone we can call a good shooter, given the two year sample size.

I take my statement back, we actually have a bigger sample size on Joe. He's attempted way more threes than Cole. I thought it was closer. I think we have a pretty good idea who Joe is, and it's the low 30's three point shooter. I agree with you. Calling this team "the best in college basketball" is absurdly off base.

We shot 35% from 3 this year. I think next year can be higher with a full season of a Covid-less Buddy pushing 40% instead of 38%, Swider Pushing 40%, and better shot selection/overall improvement from Joe. Asking Joe to go from 33 to 35% shouldn't be too hard to ask. Benny/Jimmy/whoever else are wildcards.

I'm sure people won't be happy with Joe if he gets to that percentage though. That's what Cooney/Mali shot in 2016.

I just looked at Cole's usage from the last three years. Looks like he had much lower minutes this year. Wonder if he regresses to the 35% we saw from him the previous year. Which would still be an improvement over who he replaces. Do we think he will be 3rd or 4th option for the team next year?

You really wanna compare the 2017 Warriors to this SU team??

There was an almost endearing quality to the Kadary-Joe minutes debate as last season played out. I can't imagine a season where we didn't have one player criminally underutilized. Benny vs Jimmy Jr should get top billing in the preseason forum publications.

And then, of course, Benny transfers to join Kadary at Seton Hall and they win the national championship.

I think it’s more likely JB slides one of our 3 forwards to the 5 at the expense of Edwards.
The "bubble team" era and the "stretch 4 era" would be the same era, minus Rak Christmas.

I do think I misread your original post. Thought you were saying we were going to be the best shooting team from three. My bad.

Announcing from what other offers or options lol
At the least, he certainly could return to Cornell, if he chose to.

Based on all the interest other Ivy League players with similar stats have gotten in recent years, it is reasonable to expect he had interest from other programs as well.

Some stats to ponder from 2020-21:

Baylor shot 41.3% on 724 3-pointers
Villanova shot 35.3% on 648 3-pointers
Alabama shot 35.2% on 989 3-pointers
SU shot 34.9% on 678 3-pointers. SU percentage ranked 116

How many will Syracuse shoot next season and what will the team percentage be?

Good questions for a 2021-22 Iggy

I sure hope it's closer to 700 something and we aim to shoot a lot more inside the arc.

FYI according to Larson, Jimmy said all of his options are high major programs but would not name any because he said he has already made his decision. In addition, Larson actually predicted that Jimmy will NOT choose SU due to playing time. I still think he comes here but that was interesting to hear. We’ll find out soon enough.
