Mobile Tickets

I am sorry this is EXACTLY what is wrong with moving to the mobile ticket platform. They are openly admitting to avoid problems do not wait until game time to access your tickets as they know there will be problems. I just scratch my head , why move to a new ticketing system that has problems right off the bat.

avoiding problems is normal behavior,

btw there are issues with paper tickets. Forgotten, lost, left in the car, torn, wrong tickets taken out of the book.

what is your fixation with waiting until the last second to load your tickets?

Here is a question, I know I remember last I read (and it was a while ago) the Dome was promoting "Cashless purchases" at the concession stands and such. They are hoping people pay without cash and use Apple pay, Google pay, debit/credit cards. Did they go totally cashless for this season? Or are they phasing that in over time?

I know at least one other stadium now (I believe Hard Rock in Miami) won't let you pay with cash and a few others are transitioning to cashless payments inside the venue for all purchases. Did SU go totally cashless this year? Or will they accept cash in the store for appeal and to purchase food in 2021?

What permissions do I need? is there something I need to do to activate Apple Wallet? The three links there are 'Add Card', 'Scan Code' and 'Find Apps for Wallet'. Do I need to put credit card info on Wallet for the scanning process to work? Do i need to find a wallet app for this to work?
I have no idea what your issue is. My guess is that you have an older iPhone that doesn't support this but I don't know that for sure.

Can you print your ticket? Do you have a printer? If so, you could try that, and then go into your Wallet (can you go into your Wallet), scroll to the bottom of the screen, select Edit Passes, then select Scan Code. That will open up your Camera app and I believe if you scan a valid QR (bar code), it will add that pass to your wallet.

My I-Phone is a Xr I got in 2018. Is that too old?

I have a printer that's hooked up to my home computer, (a Hewlett Packard Tower). I went to my Mycuse account there, 'Manage tickets' and to the Rutgers game and got a notice that "Your phone is your ticket. Sign in from your smart phone to see your mobile tickets." I don't know how to hook my I-Phone up to a printer. My Wallet doesn't have any 'Edit Passes' link but it does have a 'Scan Code'. that gets me a camera with nothing on it to scan.

But it's a scan. Does the scan change when the bar code changes?

correct, from what I understand it’s constantly changing

but im not an expert by any means

I've got the slide button on the right side for 'Apple Cash', 'Double Click Side Button' and 'Allow Payments on Mac' but under 'Payment Cards' it says "Apple Cash not set up". I pressed the arrow and got a screen telling me to set up my Apple Cash to send and receive messages using Apple Pay. It had me scan my face twice and Wallet now has a screen to press for Cash. I pressed that arrow and got a screen saying to set Apple cash up now. I got a 'Terms and Conditions' agreement which I agreed to. Then I got a box saying "Two factor Authentication Required and asking me to press "Upgrade Account Security'. It had me type out a password to go with my p[hone number. I was then sent a text with an Apple ID code to use, then got a box saying "This Apple ID Cannot Use Two Factor Authentication". Below it gave my E-Mail address saying it can't be used for Apple Cash because it "does not support two factor authentication." It asked me to click 'OK'.

I was going to go to bed on this note but the screen had an alert asking me to type in my Apple ID. I did so and got sent to settings. where I was told that a software update I was needed . I looked for software updates and was told that my phone had to be charging and on Wi-Fi to get the updates. I don't have Wi-Fi. (I have a wired modem for my home computer).

I tried sending the bar code to Apple Wallet and got the same, failed result.

I got an E-mail this morning (actually 1:16AM- before I made the above post) from Apple Support saying:

Two-factor authentication enabled for your Apple ID
Two-factor authentication for your Apple ID (my e-mail address) was enabled on August 26, 2021, 5:16:20 AM GMT.

So if Two Factor authentication was enabled at 1:16AM, why was I told "This Apple ID Cannot Use Two Factor Authentication" and "my E-Mail address can't be used for Apple Cash because it "does not support two factor authentication"?

You can take your wired motem and plug in (with Ethernet cable) a WiFi router like the one linked below.

This gives you the ability to connect to WiFi when needed (like phone updates or other data intense mobile programs) while retaining the desired effects of a hard wired motem

WiFi will also allow your phone or iPad to connect to the printer (your printer will connect to WiFi separately if it’s newer than 10 years old)

I would think should work. The most important thing is the version of the Apple IOS here. And if you do not have a WAP on your home network, it probably has not been updated in a really long time. I am at IOS 14.7.1, which is the latest version of the OS.

You can get your IOS version by going to Settings, then General, then About and looking at the Software Version.

Without a Wifi connection, I don't think you can download an IOS update. But I think you might be able to if you have a PC and connect your iPhone to the PC. That can be done using the charger cable you already have for your phone. Just connect it to your PC and hopefully the software needed to manage your phone is already on your PC (I think it is iTunes but my phone is managed by my company and I haven't managed it myself in years).

I would try this and if you can, try and update your IOS through your hard wired PC connection. That should work and it might fix your problem.

Unfortunately, iPhones are pretty dependent on using the Wifi connection. Not good for you.

the issue isnt that mobile tickets cant be a good thing.. but its not a good thing when it requires connecting to a app/website that reconnects to another web site that then downloads to another app in an attempt to get around the issue that the internet around the dome is bad and wifi is really an insecure method to connect anything like a phone too.

if we had decent cell phone coverage 90% of the issues people are having would be gone because you could just login and show your mobile ticket.

and this is on a forum where its all mostly SU fans trying to help SU fans and they are aware of the issue and the fact mobile is a thing.. Most of the season ticket holders I have talked with the last couple weeks around town have no idea what is coming or that they wont have a ticket and dont understand what the changes mean for entering the dome. I have found very few that have any idea on what is happening with covid restrictions. When you mention cashless they are like what does that mean.

I'm all for technology, and have no issues using mobile tickets. But I also have no problem with people who prefer paper tickets. Every issue you mention is a good reaosn for a mobile ticket. That said, if someone ran into an issue, they could use mobile tickets as their backup option. I think it'd be nice to have both options. I'm not sure how much the University saves on printing and distribution, so perhaps it's a cost savings measure too.

I just bought a factory new iphone Xr this month. I've had no issues moving the tickets into the Apple Wallet. And I haven't had to change any of the factory settings.

Here's a thought:

Did you ever set up an Apple account?

If you click on the "settings" icon from the home screen of the phone, does it show you logged in as the phone user?

if the school just made it clear that its X for tickets and x+y for printed tickets people could make that choice, the school would clearly see who did or didnt want it. it might have been 95% went the mobile route.. but it was 20% 2 yrs ago using mobile. times have changed. but clearly its not being done for the convenience of all the fans. those who wanted mobile thats great, those who wanted tickets, we can do that but dont say it too loud cause others might ask us too..

they could have done a survey and asked us too.

I agree the issue is not with the new technology of mobile tickets it simply is not ready for this forced rollout at just about every venue in the country. I went to the pga in Kiawah this spring and mobile tickets worked great no problems at the gate. However at countless other venues this summer has been a nightmare just ask those at St Joes amp how there experience went. I relate it to let's say the govnt said starting tomorrow the only cars allowed on the road are electric vehicles and you must only use a charging station at select locations. Technology is not the problem it is all in the rollout.

Ticketing has been great at the amp both times I have been there. It’s the security lines and bag checking that causes the problems there.

I thought I had IOS 14.7.1. but that's what it says on settings/general/software update. i misinterpreted that to mean that's what I had when that's the update they want to do. I looked on "About" and it says my "Software version" is 12.3.

I also found 16 updates to be done on the App Store. I was able to update CNY Central, Google Street View, Wikipedia, my QR reader, MiLB First Pitch and "Syracuse Orange" without Wi-fi. I was not able to update IMDB, Google, Weather, Apple Store Keynote, umbers, Pages, I-Tunes, ESPN and I-Movie because they required IOS between 12.4 and 14.1.

SUskibum's suggestion about getting a WiFi router to plug into my wired modem might be helpful. I just ordered it.

Before this, I had gone to the Apple Store in Destiny but the guy there told me he didn't think there was anyone there who could help me. He did offer the opinion that the SU website was "weird". He gave me the phone number to Apple Support (315-422-8484). i talked to a woman named Chris who advised me to contact the App Developer, which she said could be found on Apple Store under "Ratings & Reviews". This proved to be Sidearm Sports. Their page said "Contact Us". I clicked on it and nothing happened. Chris also said I could go to a place that ahs WiFi, like a restaurant and download my updates there. (I might even get a good meal out of it).

I went back to the 'S' app, now updated and tried to send my ticket to Apple Wallet and I got a different response but one that was still unsatisfactory. Instead of a message telling me that I didn't have permissions, i got one saying "Save Image". I pressed that and got a box saying "Cuse would like to add your photos". I said "Yes". I got my camera which had an "Add to Apple Wallet" image but no bar code. Apple Wallet was no different. I'd saved the image of the Add to Apple Wallet button!

At least I figured out how to make a screen shot and made one of the bar code ticker for the Rutgers game and it's on my camera in case that would get me in.

Yes, the old days are sure lookin' good but they ain't comin' back so I'll keep plugging away at this. I suspect updating my phone will be the answer.

That's what I've got, minus the Wi-Fi.

like I said, sidearm sucks, and as suspected your phone needs updating

<< The other 29? They are willing to print, though most do not publicly offer that option. Illinois was among schools that did give fans a choice, and 74% picked paper. That figure was 64% at Nebraska and 50% at Texas A&M>>

Interesting to see when offered a choice look what the majority of fans prefer

it saves schools almost nothing in mailing costs since most of the time those costs are passed on..

as the story says the youngest fans probably are fine with digital.. so if you remove the students from some of those numbers its probably 5-10% more would still take paper...

Some fan’s preferring paper tickets doesn’t in anyway validate your arguments against digital tickets

based on your name does this process interfer with a personal financial interest?

My friends call me that as a nickname for having a knack for finding great deals right before a game or event as I always wait to kickoff or showtime and score great deals for tickets for me and friends. People would be surprised how little you can buy prime seats by just waiting till the end to buy them.

I read all 11 pages of this problem and tried down loading our tickets to my Apple Wallet using my i phone 6, which has iOS 12.5.4. I couldn't do it.

Eventually we used my wife's iphone 12 with iOS 14.7.1. We were successful in downloading both our tickets to her Apple Wallet.
