Mobile Tickets

I still don't know how to find what IOS I have.
Settings -> General -> About

This will tell you all about your iPhone.

Settings -> General -> Software Update will also tell you what version of iOS you have and tell you the latest version and allow you to update.

Be forewarned: plug in your phone as this is a time-consuming exercise. Especially if you are updating over several versions.

Good luck!

I have to reply here. I bought my IPhone to make my life better, not more complicated or to be tracked. I don't know what IOS means or even care what it is. I looked at Settings on my phone and have no idea how to determine the IOS.

I get tired of looking at the map function on my phone and the phone asking if I want Pizza.

I did take a photo of my vaccination card to prove I've been vaccinated and I like to check email and SyracuseFan postings. I am not going to the Apple store and wait an hour for a kid to tell me my IOS is outdated and I need a new phone.

There is a positive about mobile phones. I was able to save a young woman's life. She was so engrossed in reading her phone she walked out into an intersection and I was able to grab her from behind before a truck hit her. That was a good thing.
Not sure what prompted this.

All I did was see a fellow poster, one who has provided me immense reading pleasure for 2 decades because of countless thoughtful hours invested in his data based posting, who was struggling a bit with technology he will need to watch games.

I am quite familiar with this tech (and other tech) and so I thought I would provide SWC with as much help as I could, which is a drop in the bucket for all the enjoyment he has provided me over the years (decades!)

If you want to use your phone for the minimum possible uses, that is certainly your choice and I have no issue with it, nor did I imply anything else.

Go Orange! (digital, analog or other)

The lesson I learned is that I need to make sure my phone operating system is up-to-date and that I've got the current version of each App, (the App Store button will have an icon at the bottom of the screen for finding out which ones need updating and the version of the Operating System you need to do it. When I updated my system that list disappeared, meaning that'd all updated, (although the SU app for some reason did not, which is why I needed help at the Apple Store). if you aren't fully updated, you aren't ready for the new season.

I, too, make limited use of both my I-phone and my home computer. there are many functions I've never used on each. (I should probably take a course on each.) But I've just been using my I-phone to make occasional calls and photos and to look up stuff when I'm away from home. I made the assumption that as long as those functions worked I'm fine. I also assumed that since I bought it in 2018 that things were pretty up-to-date since that wasn't very long ago. But in the space-time continuum of the computer world is different than the one our brains exist in and I was basically driving a Model T in the Indy 500. The thing is the upgrade and the time of the people who helped me at Apple was free. the only cost was the time to do it.

By the way I'm using that lanyard SU gave us in the good old days of paper tickets for my vaccination card. I just grab the thing every time I leave the house and stick it under my shirt. If I need to show it, it's right there.

and there is the crux of the whole thing.. tech is great.. but these businesses are deciding you must use tech to enter and buy things. cell phones in crowded areas are about the biggest security risk you can have with your personal data. when you go into these places like malls and games the first thing you should do is turn off blue tooth and wifi but who does that? but giving away our personal info seems to be the way of life people are happy about

most phones have protections on your personal info

I am no lawyer or did I ever play one in my working days...retired now and loving it..but maybe an enterprising SU law school student can chime in on this is mobile tickets are forced down everyones throat can they be hard accountable for any type of data hack if it can be proven to be caused by using your phone trying to enter a game or concert.

how many of those things do people do on a cell phone

if someone spoofs the dome wifi, you really think anyone is gonna notice?

most of these things help from hacking, but not if the web site is corrupt, the wifi is spoofed or you are using bluetooth devices

but hey Cuse.com is a rock solid web site what could go wrong

Bill Maher on modern phones:

I'm proud to say that I used Apple Pay for the first time at the Syracuse Mets game today. I bought a hot dog and a diet coke. I saw the symbol that said they would take Apple Pay. I got out my phone and pointed to the screen. the guys said , "Wait I've got to do this" and pressed some button. Then my screen indicated it was paid and I walked off proudly with my hot dog and coke. Later I liked at my phone and there was an alert that I'd paid for something for 75 cents. I realized that the screen I looked at had said $0.75. The guy had put in the wrong price.

The hot dog and coke tasted delicious, just like the old days when they actually cost 75 cents.

Attention people of Earth.

SWC went way out of his comfort zone, tried everything on his own, had new WiFi installed, went to Apple Store, waited in line, updated software, and now saw the Apple Pay symbol and just started exploring and figured out how to use it to buy concessions.

Everyone else just ran out of excuses.

And now is wanted because he knowingly paid the wrong amount and now that he used mobile the bill can be corrected and he can recharged!!!

He's a distant cousin...

I'll tell that to the 14-year-old kid from Pioneer Homes who just wanted to pay a couple bucks to get into the game.

Let 'em eat cake, eh, Chip?

Is that what the box office or AD told you?

Love ya, Chip. But for you, Bees, and the 99% of this board who've expressed the same dismissive attitude about the change in ticketing, I'll repeat my dead-horse routine: for privileged superfans, this is no big deal, but it's wrong of SU to shut out a segment (old, young, poor, whatever) of the buying public, and I'm disappointed in my friends and acquaintances who carry water for SU rather than criticize them on this issue.

The girl who took my phone call back in February or March was useless. Told me it was a mobile phone or no game entry. (Turns out some of our fellow tailgaters knew more about this than she did.) But after that interaction with the box office, I chose the latter.

I really just wanted to celebrate SWC for all his efforts. Didn't want to see him shut out of the Dome.

I think Xtreme upgraded his StarTac flip phone, so he gets a shout out too.

I had thought there were extenuating circumstances where they could do paper tickets. I would think donating tickets to a charitable organizations would/could apply if needed.

(I'm not a monster).

The mobile ticketing thing seems like something every single Ticketmaster venue in America is doing. I guess I don't get SU being singled out as some sort of bad guy when it's done everywhere and SU really doesn't control it.

su has sent out numerous emails about tickets and each one ive read has said call xxxxxx if you have questions or issues. And as we’ve seen they will give people hard copy tickets.

Ultimately that's what posters on here have learned, sure.

Wasn't the case when I was up against a renewal deadline and the rep offered no other options, though.

I'm skeptical. Especially in light of that article posted a few days ago...some institutions got out in front of this policy and were transparent about their desire to accommodate everyone, some haven't. My experience with SU puts them into the second category.

My point is SU cannot tell Ticketmaster nevermind we aren't doing this, don't think we have a ton of say in it.

pro and cons..

But SU chose to take the lazy way out on the customer service side of it. it could have been as simple as check yes for mobile or yes for printed tickets.. But they wanted to make it as hard as possible to get printed tickets or even know it was an option.

"The Athletics Department will be implementing a full mobile ticketing experience heading into the 2021 season."

Not sure why people would think printed was an option

can I print tickets.
  • Unfortunately, no. This year, we will accept mobile tickets only."
again..

so ya if you read the email and then read the faq and then contacted them in person and then got the right person on the phone you might get the ability to get real tickets..

They didnt gain any fans, they lost a few..

and in a few years only old timers will even remember tickets were a thing.

its like ezpass on the thruway, already in the last 4-5 yrs had multiple times where it didnt scan correctly and got billed for a full ride then had to call for 1-2 hrs to get to the right billing to tell a story multiple times to get the bill reset to the trip i actually took. never happened when i paid the dude in the booth..

at least if you want to go mobile fix the apps you want people to use.
