Mobile Tickets

Why do you say that? Every venue that does this is a Ticketmaster venue.
ticket master does not care if its mobile or not.. Su is accepting tickets . what the dont want is printed tickets on paper from home. I am sure they was a small market for people printing on card stock too that this cuts off.

They seem to care in every major NCAA venue, MLB venue (I went through this EXACT same thing with the Nationals) and from NFL guys are saying here NFL venues. Would assume the same with NBA and NHL but haven't gone. The last few shows I saw pre COVID were all Ticketmaster paperless. The US Open tennis (Ticketmaster) is all mobile (just checked). SU isn't on some cutting edge here.

i love SyracuseFan and everyone who calls this little slice of the internet home...

but as a very tech-savvy 30 year old... this thread is hilarious to me.

However if you ever need help just let me know! I have an 84 year old grandmother who is anything but tech savvy so my patience has grown immensely over the years!

again.. the issue isnt mobile. the issue is poorly implemented solutions because someone had the idea that cell phones should be the center of everything.

the same thing could be said for food in the dome.. we could all order on line and it could all be delivered to our seat and there would be no lines in the concourses.. but the system to do it is not in place.

fix the 4g, fix the wifi , fix the apps then implement the solution..

Even though this isn't mobile ticketing per say, I hope the Dome can take a lesson from this cluster.

Good luck! Hearing that one will need the actual card (not a picture). Not sure how the NY app or others will play.

the article is sensationalized. My brother and his son are there and got there 2 hours apart. He said the whole wait is checking bags and has always been that way if you get there noonish. After bag check you move to vaccination check and tickets which was quick with little wait.

you would think the ny app would be better since its much harder to fake.

pretty much what i saw on TV.. there were no crowds at all in the morning

I used the NY App for lax and it was good to go at the Dome, I assume they asked for ID to go with it but honestly I don't remember. I still think the passport proof will work from what I have heard.

yeah they asked for I’d after looking at the passport on the phone along with the ticket. Why that is necessary is beyond me.

My point is SU cannot tell Ticketmaster nevermind we aren't doing this, don't think we have a ton of say in it.

Wasn't it Illinois or someone else in the Midwest who publicized they were sticking with the same hybrid model as before (mailed tickets for those who want them, mobile for those who prefer that)? I don't know if they're Ticketmaster, and maybe I'm misremembering specifics, but again it sounds incredible to think that SU might say that they prefer that approach and not be able to make it happen.

Here's the quote:

Nearly every Football Bowl Subdivision school has gone to mobile ticketing this season, but in a spot check of 30 schools, only Notre Dame said it would refuse to print tickets for fans requesting them.

The other 29? They are willing to print, though most do not publicly offer that option. Illinois was among schools that did give fans a choice, and 74% picked paper. That figure was 64% at Nebraska and 50% at Texas A&M.

There we go, that's what I remembered, thanks. So it's implied that Ticketmaster didn't object to their offering a choice. SU chose a different tack for whatever reason.

Maybe...but they're an outlier, again for whatever reason.

At some point if I have the chance to ask someone about this I will.

If fan fest is any indication, you better get to the Dome early.
Did you see issues with mobile tickets or verification of Covid status. I know there were issues with fans not having picture ID ready along with vaccine certification. Heard nothing about scanning tickets.

it was pretty clear when people bought fanfest that it was a mobile event.. not clear that people going to game 1 really understand that. in a normal game the crowd comes it late and the last 30 min are tough to get in.

Can you just show a picture on your phone of your Vax card or did you need to have an excelsior pass?

another fuzzy question.. if they really want to limit fakes from most of the NY crowd then they should ask for the ny pass. Not sure how big a concern it is to them.

Thanks, I'm genuinely curious.

(My assumption, FWIW, some combination of 1) saving staff/mailing/paper resources; 2) desire to adhere to perceived best practices in the industry; 3) incentive from ad partners.)

Lol! Depends what line you’re in. First line was really backed up. Line beside us was going much faster and had nobody there. So we joined the empty line and soon found out why it moved so fast. The person didn’t ask for proof of vax. She was just happy to see our masks on.
Im guessing this will be addressed by game day and the lines will be horribly backed up
