Losing Newton is just terrible really I guess it’s nice Jimmy B will transfer in but how many years does he actually have?

Buddy is going to score Carmelo level points next year so it’s just going to be about putting the requisite defense and rebounding around he, Benny and Kadary. I do think Braswell has 2013 Southerland like upside if he can get consistent playing time.

Good D, improved rebounding and that quick release from Braswell bodes well for next year. Hopefully Benny can be an upgrade over QG given how much QG gives us when he is playing well.

And If not for knee soreness his average minutes would have increased even more. Luckily Joe played some of his best basketball late season. He still had his weaknesses but he was much better.
He did very well the first game of the ACCT and if he played that style of ball all year then it’s a discussion of playing time, unfortunately that game was an outlier. The last game wasn’t good and he forced way too much and it negated the good he did.

Jimmy would have one more year.

Woody wasn't staying here more than 2 years anyways.

Either way, we'd still have a opening for 2022-23.

bulldog is saying 8 will return. You predicted 6.

Is he? I think he confirmed who he knows is leaving and who is transferring in.

I didn’t read that as *only* those will be the ones.

I would assume at least one of JBA/Frank/Jesse will leave as well. Just opinion.

No guards coming in. And a lot of turnover.

Not great.

Marek gone, barama gone. QG gone. AG gone. Woody gone.

Jimmy B transferring in.

And this is not an opinion. This is what I’m told to expect...

It’s crazy how this Woody stuff has unfolded. And for those asking I give it a 1% chance he’s back
Its a shame about Woody. The others are excellent players but Sid isnt going to get better, Q isnt going to get younger, Griff isnt going to start at the 2, Gumby can make a nice living back home.
Jimmy is a very good player. He can play both forward positions. He is an excellent shooter who isn't athletic but he is strong.
Bras, Jimmy, 5 star, J, Frank, Edwards, Kadary, Joe, Buddy are a nice team. Add in another front court player and i think we finish in the top half of the ACC and dance in the 7-10 range.

Woody thought he was a 2 and done? Weren’t there people questioning if he was even good enough to play here in his recruiting thread. I know a certain podcast was. I loved what we saw from him and wish we saw more, but this confuses me.

I think JBA would be the only one if one of them does. JBA would be more a Howard Washington situation given it's clear he loves being here from everything you see and read.

The Griffin situation really throws a monkey wrench into the guard situation. He should have been a combo and a legit additional guard like Eli but the hot and cold stuff and now likely professional pursuits have been hard to put a finger on.

Nobody stays more than 2 years anymore. The G League awaits.

Given what we are seeing from Buddy, Kadary, Bras and Jesse along with all the stuff around Benny, I think the ceiling (finally for a change) could be much higher. Could is the operative word. You factor in bring Jimmy in and having Joe( good Joe not bad Joe) along with Frank with a true off-season and there is a lot to like.

Gotta bring in more help at Guard and forward for the future though unless we start getting lots of movement from the 22 class.

We have a lot of forwards. He's the youngest one. He isn't Carmelo. That's how JB rolls.

It's kinda like freshman year when people were surprised about the snow.

It's got to feel nice to be an assistant at a school like SU but it must suck being Boeheim's assistant at this stage in his career. The head guy doesn't do any recruiting and chases off the players the staff does manage to get here. They must feel like Sisyphus rolling the boulder up the hill.

Yeah. My point is that we’re still not leveling up to where we need to be, if I’m being honest. And this much turnover is hard to overcome.

Kadary, Benny and Buddy should be the core next year. Even that, with the remaining roster, is solid, but not exceptional.

If JBA leaves, which I don’t think is too far-fetched, it means we are one injury away from guard and center going into Ironman situations.

I think that teams fits better with roster and roles, but it’s also predicated on who JB plays.

I’m veering off topic now, but my points are:

I think one more center will leave

I think we’re going to be wildly dependent on health luck.

While I think this team would be solid, we’re still a ways away for where we need to get to to be competing for an ACC title.

I’ll be happy just not being on the bubble.

Wild.

Upshot is we would have a lot more natural looking team and rotation, that I can also make sound like a really sweet boy band.

G - Buddy, Kadary, Joey G
- Jimmy, Benny, Big Bad Bobby
C - Jesse, Frankie, Johnny
I think that’s a better roster than most would give credit for.

If Marek or Q decides to come back on top of that I think I would be ready to get hurt by my own expectations again.

We’re fine as long as Jimmy B doesn’t play Jimmy B at the five for a single minute
Unless Benny can clone himself if we lose all those guys. We're in trouble.

Edwards
bras
benny
buddy
kadary
jimmy
joe

I think that can be a legit top 25 team. We will have a true Center, true pg, and a 5 star to bring in to team with our veteran scorer/leader. That was always the hallmark of our elite teams earlier last decade.

That team would get murdered on the boards. And way too optimistic about Benny Williams being a plug-and-play guy that would replace Guerrier's production. He's a typical skinny SU forward. The question with those guys is always whether they can handle the physicality of the college game right off the bat. But I suppose that's an excuse for Boeheim to play Jimmy more.

Rebounding is the same for us every year regardless of personnel. We are talking about a legit top 30 forward. He’s definitely a plug and play. He may not have the physicality of QG, but he will be more athletic.

Benny plays further above the rim than QG and has an inch on him. Also while he is lean, the kid is far from a pushover. He is strong and has the frame to add weight easily.

Meh, unless Edwards and Braswell both make another quantum leap in physicality and production next year, that's nowhere near a top 25 team. You're putting a lot on the freshman's shoulders and we haven't even talked about adjusting to the zone yet. I'm still not convinced he's going to play big minutes anyway if Jimmy is transferring in.

Well feel free to be pessimistic. We started Dole and Griffin on the front line this year. The rebounding can’t get any worse. I haven’t even mentioned that a mediocre conference loses a lot of players this year. Huff..Wright..Brooks..etc.
