Trying to figure out why offenses have regressed so much since the midway point last year.
NFL really needs OL prospects develop in college. Offenses can't practice enough so OL play is bad.
The influx of defensive linemen into this league has been off the hooks. The speed and pass rushing has gotten a lot deeper across the league.

Thinking defensive athletes are just too hard to block given existing rules...too big, too fast, too skilled, etc.

I could be wrong, because Pittsburgh was just not called for a single infraction against one of the top Defenses in the NFL (statistically) but I think that's it.

So, just as an aside...here's my perspective, as a Patriots fan on Spygate 2.

This one is different for me. This is the first time that I literally cannot find an explanation that is not either a) brazen skirting of the rules/cheating or b) complete and utter stupidity to the point of negligence. And I don't want to litigate the past indiscretions here.

I love this team, and will always be a fan no matter what. They've given me a lifetime of joy. But I cannot and will not defend this. They were literally sitting in front of the coaches for the then 1-12 Bengals and wearing Patriots gear filming the sideline for an extended period. There is no way this is not shady. But its just so goddamn stupid that I am almost inclined to think the guy was just an absolute moron. But either way, the team is 100% responsible and I'm not going to argue if and when they are penalized.

When you are under the microscope you need to be beyond reproach. This franchise just seems incapable of understanding it.

you're the first pats fan I’ve ever heard say something like this., I think the reason the fans are so loathe to even admit a minor infraction is because they believe such an admission will lead to everyone claiming the pats are successful ONLY cause of such subterfuge

well I’m not a pats fan and I don’t feel that way

both can be true .. the pats may play fast and loose with the rules but it’s not the reason they are a dynasty .. not even close

so at the end of the 49 ers game...why not just pass interfere on every play that has even a small chance at being completed? i mean worst that they can do is give them an untimed down at the 1.

i thought they added a rule to enforce the UC penalty on plays like intentional PI now so both get enforced?

The AFC East has now had a representative wild card team in the playoffs in three of the last four seasons. In that span, the Patriots have been to all three Super Bowls.

They seem to spend more time on their alibi than they do on the actual infraction. I can't believe the franchise is that inept at the cheating part. They are too solid in all other phases. Just mind boggling.

They broke the rules in Spygate.
Patriots fans don’t even dispute that.
It’s more the other teams fanbases going overboard to want to delegitimizate everything that gets the pissing matches.
Deflategate was the owners wanted more punishment for Spygate. It was completely overblown and not administered to find a fair conclusion. Facts didn’t matter in that case.

The Patriots fought Deflategate to the end. Atleast Brady did. Kraft didn’t and just wanted the image he was for his fanbase but to his fellow owners he did nothing.

This affair for once the Patriots admit their guy made a mistake. They are doing a series behind the scenes showing how every part of the organization does its job. The camera guy was a moron. I don’t think Belichick has anything to do with this stuff. That guy is too detailed to be that stupid. In Spygate he had the cameraguy on the sideline and not upstairs where it was legal.
The video yesterday didn’t show the scoreboard so we have no clue when the plays took place. For Spygate the camera guy would go from the coaches to the scoreboard to get down and distance with time in each quarter.

This was a moron who has given Patriots haters porn to people to beat the drum up. The football operations team aka Belichick had nothing to do with this and it doesn’t matter. Fine the team. If anyone deserves a punishment it’s Bob Kraft. The guy deserves it.

Reminds me of every teenage boy I've ever met. Dumb, dumb, dumb.

Plausible deniability.

I hear that. I'm just tired of it. The original Spygate was a clear infraction, but I was at least able to equivocate it at the time with the idea that it was a first time screw up and that they were not the first to do it just the first to get caught (keep in mind...I'll giving you a glimpse into how my mind was operating then not now). Deflategate...that was just BS and always has been. Science literally proved that was a non issue, and that is the one i WILL defend the team on till the end.

But this one...i got nothing. I'm angry at them for either trying to get an unfair edge against the worst team in the league, or for just being absolute morons. I'm tired of having to find new ways to defend this team's actions, and I am choosing not to this time. Doesnt mean I wont cheer the hell out em on the field.

Goodell literally had a lab fabricate evidence against the Pats for Deflategate. (I'm a Cowboys fan, BTW.) At worst is should have been an equipment violation and $25K fine, per the intact rules at the time. I always thought Brady should have sued for defamation/libel.

Yes, without question. This is like unsportsmanlike conduct from a referee. All he had to do was say, "Dak, are you sure this is what you meant..." and obviously he would say no since no team in league history would ever purposely choose this.

It's like if someone at a blackjack table implied that they wanted to hit when they have 20, the dealer would say, "that's not what you meant, right?"

and if for some reason they insisted you'd yell to your floor supervisor/pit boss "Hitting 20!"

I don't know what was worse yesterday. The Raiders blowing a 10 pt. lead late and being shutout in the 2nd half, or losing their final Oakland home game to St. Doug.

First time Duck showed true lack of composure. Props to Bills defense. Disappointing nonetheless.
First time I've seen Duck and I'll tell you what his name is appropriate because he throws some wobbly ducks. I'd say he's a poor man's Fitzpatrick except Fitz actually gets much more velocity on his throws. Not sure how people think this dude is a legit NFL QB. He needs someone to scheme receivers open because he's not fitting anything into any windows.

Only playoff mysteries left.
NE vs. KC for the 2 seed.

Pittsburgh/Indy/Cleveland/Tennessee fighting for the 6 seed.

NFC
NO fighting for bye
MIN/GB fighting for North
Seattle-San Fran fighting for West.

Dallas-Philly playing for 4 seed.
The NFC could have five 12 win teams and the NFC East winner.

I mean, technically the AFC East is still up for grabs, although even if the Bills were able to pull an upset in Foxboro, I highly doubt NE would lose to Miami week 17.

If the Patriots didn't have the Dolphins I would agree with you.
Their defense won't let them lose at home to the Dolphins.
I can see the Bills winning a game like they did last night in Pittsburgh but I expect NE to win a close game.

Terrell Suggs got claimed by Kansas City Chiefs.
Some unknown team claimed Jackrabbit Jenkins.

Some unknown team for Jackrabbit Jenkins has now been identified as the New Orleans Saints.
