NYS: large arenas can open 10% capacity

There’s no limit to capacity for basketball games so technically we should be able to get 25k off the bat.

there have been games where the upper deck is open. why Place an artificial limit on attendence

Again - the dome's capacity for lacrosse is absolutely not 49k. They will never sit people in the endzones especially the first two levels. That to me would change "capacity". SU will handle this just fine but I wouldn't be surprised to see the "4,900" number people keep saying to actually be around 2500 for lax

Which is still pretty good in a pandemic.

They don't normally sit people in certain areas because it isn't necessary. If 49,000 people wanted to see a lacrosse game they would use the whole building normally. The capacity of the building is what the rule is based on, not the typical usage for a specific event. If they can spread people out and people don't mind sitting farther away than normal, they'd be silly to artificially limit themselves simply because they usually don't use certain parts of stadium.

If you eliminate the end zones, you can still get 38,000-40,000 in the Dome for LAX.

That's a "socially distanced" crowd of 3,800-4,000.

Plenty.

I'm all for this I just am leaning more on the cautious side and thinking it'll be a 2-2500 limit for lax, which is absolutely still plenty. We'll see. Exciting either way!

I don't know how many people go to Chiefs games but I feel so many are looking to do something they will have no issues selling to limited capacity.
Especially with the Mets in charge. CNY's team! Woo hoo!

I believe they have put in a concourse walkway so you will be able to walk completely around the stadium once inside. And some outfield bleacher seats. I am excited to check it out.

I suspect that by the time NY weather gets to make baseball enjoyable to watch that the 10% is much higher.
Sure hope so.

Completely selfish long range post but I really hope this thing is contained enough that by fall we can be at least 50%. My son goes to college next year and this is the last fall we can do our annual football trip(s) as a family.
I follow news on pandemic everyday. There was alarm that the UK and South Africa variants would lengthen the recovery but the most recent news is that Pfizer and Moderna are holding up extremely well. I am hoping for full stadiums if not in Sept then maybe Oct. or Nov. If you get opinions from the experts they’re all over the place. From late summer to 2022 to a near normal society. Also the developing rapid tests could aid the return to stadiums. I’m hopeful.

testing needs to continue.. The faster they can ramp that up the more you can open up.. Even giving everyone the vaccine doesnt mean we dont have to keep an eye out to variants so it doesnt come back in some other form.

Shots/Booster Shots/Testing. ramp that all up.

The more vaccinations and decline of spread the less likely development of more new variants. Fauci has stressed that. It is a race .

Yup but they still need to be able to test for it and get results faster. we will never be 100% vaccinated but if people go to a DR they need to be able to get an answer and eliminate that as the issue.. next yr maybe we dont test as much but thru the rest of this yr we probably do..

My mental and emotional well-being would highly appreciate anything close to normalcy by the fall

My guess is that Cuse will have 50% for football and then could easily increase depending on how things are going.

I believe most stadiums especially down south will be at 75% +. I think NY will get to at least 50% as well as we have six + months before fball season. The problem for SU becomes what are the regulations that have to be met for SU to get 50 to 75%+ of the building full. The current guideline for a negative Covid test is certainly reasonable for a few thousand people but is never going to work for 30,000 fans. Cuomo would have to agree that negative tests aren't required (perhaps just proof of vaccine) for SU to have any real shot of filling the Dome. I assume just proof of vaccine will be needed but its NY so you can never be 100%. Seems unlikely kids will be vaccinated by that point so interesting to see what they will do there.

The other Elephant in the room is tailgating for fball. Have already heard that tailgating is likely to be a bridge to far this fall with NY, hope that is not true.

I know they plan on having our campus fully vaccinated before May graduation all workers and kids.. whether that happens..

If the semester ends toward the end of May I think its possible but I wouldn't hold my breath. Fauci's comments today that the vaccine should be available to most Americans or at least that most will be eligible by late March/April seems a bit ambitious. Perhaps for smaller states that's possible but NY is still struggling to vaccinate those 65+. The 50s and 40s demographic is going to take months and months to get through. I can't see people in their 30's less their 20's being eligible until early summer at best.

there around 100-150 million to do over the age of 15.. of that say 75% want to take it.. JJ has 100 million to throw at it.. over the next 2 months the other 2 are gonna throw 100+ million doses at it..

if the other vaccine comes on thats another 50-100 million ready to go.

the supply issue is a concern but the distribution issue will be gone soon.

they are giving 2 million a day and thats still going up.. by end of march
by end of march NY will be over 5-6 million given and CVS/Walgreens went on line so that number may increase as well
