No. 1 Maryland leads the way into week four as the top team in the nation, receiving all first place votes as they improved to 2-0 over the weekend with a dominating 18-8 victory over Georgetown. No. 2 Syracuse moves up one spot in the rankings, as the Orange improved to 4-0 with wins over Wagner and Marist in their second doubleheader of the season on Sunday. No. 3 Penn State, No. 4 Florida and No. 5 North Carolina round out the top five.
No. 9 Princeton makes the jump into the top ten for the first time this season after topping No. 10 Virginia, 14-7, on Saturday, and No. 11 USC makes the biggest jump in the poll this week moving from No. 18 after downing No. 12 Duke, 11-5, in southern California.
The University of Maryland and Adelphi University, the Division I and II National Champions in 2015, hold the top position in the IWLCA weekly coaches polls for the week of February 22. Maryland is currently 2-0 in 2016 with wins over William & Mary and Georgetown, while the Panthers topped Grand Valley State University 16-6 in their season opener on February 20.
