Preseason Coaches Poll (Syracuse #22)

While the rest of the conference does, indeed, need to step it up, there were 5 AGV's: Miami #29; VPI #32; UVa #37; Duke #44; FSU, #47. I'm surprised BC wasn't one of the AGVs.

Miami and VT can never win another game in history, for all I care. I hope they both flop badly. FSU too, because they’re in our division.

We'd have no problems with any of that.

For a solid decade, there’s no college football teams I’ve ever hated more than VT and Miami. Everything about them just sucked and was completely unlikable. Screw them forever.

1998, we bought our tickets outside the Dome from future VT star Andre Davis’s father(no beef with him, he was a nice guy), and so we sat in the VT section. Just a miserable experience to sit there when we were down 21-3, and an incredibly enjoyable experience to sit there when we came back and beat them on the last play of the game. I still remember moving a teary-eyed limp noodle of a VT fan out of the way of the railing (he was standing there staring at the field in disbelief) so we could storm the field, lol.

I still have no idea how that Nova kicker shanked that straight-on like 25 yard field goal to win the game.
My wife is a Nova alum, and we follow the football team pretty closely. That kicker made a career out of easy misses.

We all knew that we should be pre season ranked, but since it has been 21 years since being preseason ranked - you truly never know unit it actually happens. I am so relieved. It feels really good after going through two decades of mediocracy. As long as we win the games we are supposed to we will be 9-3 at worst ranked top 25 all year. What more can we ask for in year 4 of Dino's tenure?

I completely understand where you're coming from and I hope the team has your attitude, but as fans who have suffered for a very long time, this preseason ranking means a lot. It's exciting as a fan, and hopefully we'll welcome Clemson to the Dome with a top 15 match up and a sold Gameday crowd that spent the entire day getting pumped for the game.
Pre-season bias is huge for late season rankings. Fairly or not, the team that was better regarded before the season started is far more likely to be better regarded at the end of a season, holding all other factors (achievements, etc.) steady.

Remember the dungey grape soda gif .. we have moved on to a new QB folks... and a new go to gif
That gif should be able to gain some traction with the co-eds. maybe they'll even show up for pre-game warmups.

I expected to be in 18-22 range but why the hell is Utah so high. Don't think they make that much of a jump

Conspiracy theory (Sorry, this is what happens when you need a football fix):

1) PAC needs any and all assistance in justifying their existence beyond USC football and UCLA hoops, otherwise, they are essentially a G5 school with a P5 moniker.
2) The SEC and B1G feel really threatened by the ACC (yes, Clemson is the driving force, but with a relatively young Dabo, their run could go on for a long while); SU is back under Dino, who gives no appearance of wanting to or needing to leave to reach the highest plateaus; FSU wants a winner, will change coaches as necessary to get back to contention; likewise Miami, and the ACC top to bottom is much deeper than in decades past.
3) The ACCN is coming on line and the SEC and B1G want to diminish the launch as much as possible to hold onto any financial advantage they have, especially following the B1G renewal which proves there is far more money in hoops than the networks were letting on the past couple decades and no conference matches up well year in and year out in hoops like the ACC.
4) Nick Saban has threatened the NCAA to take Bama to the NFL because SU and TAMU are the only teams that can compete with Clemson.

I need a real game soon. Too much time on my hands.

I’m confused. Why would Nick Sagan want Alabama to go to a league with a lower salary cap?
