Ricki has a ton of arm talent. Can it be harensed? That is the single biggest issue on this team.

Period. He has all he needs to make him successful.

Does he though? I haven’t seen anything special about his arm.

Also he doesn’t seem to know how to pass, which is more important. That IMO can’t be fixed this year.

Why? Because I thought some posters' criticism of him has been over the top before we actually saw him play?

I never said Collins was winning the Heisman, or that there was some huge injustice that Angeli won the job. I thought both QBs were flawed and didn't think once was necessarily better than the other, and my only point was both guys deserved a fair shake from our fans.

However, after a shaky start to the season in the Tennessee/3 quarters of UConn, Angeli looked solid against Colgate, and completely proved me wrong at Clemson. I was looking forward to the rest of the season with him at the helm before the injury (because I am a Syracuse fan and I care more about success than internet points).

I also believed that if Collins got his chance, he had the tools to be successful. While he showed some flashes Saturday I don't think he's good enough to lead us to where Angeli could have if he didn't get injured. I figured after a full week of practice with the ones, and some plays crafted more to his skill set, we would've seen some success against Duke. That was incorrect.

I don't think a true freshman is the answer this season either, but I'm not the coach. I just want to make a bowl game.

At the very least when we fall down three scores in the 2nd half vs SMU let him finish the game. The other team will be more conservative on D so he won’t be “ruined” or overwhelmed.

Same for Pitt who can easily overwhelm a QB. Same for GA Tech since it is a road game against a ranked team.

Then start him as a surprise vs UNC so we can actually get a win.

Starting Carney now is too risky. Yeah it's great he was starting as a freshman in HS. But we're talking about starting him:

• At ND
• At Miami
• versus a 6-time SB winner
• versus a rival we never beat

I've read nothing but good things about Carney. Don't get me wrong. He sounds like a key piece of our future. It's not worth the risk. Rushing him in too soon could shatter his confidence and mess up his fundamentals.

We were never making the playoffs. Everyone said it's about making a run in 2026. Here we are.

But it’s not risky IF Collins can’t do the job, it’s a necessity (or maybe try Williams). May not be ideal, but can’t just concede the rest of the season.

would felt better hearing him act more like a leader and shouldering more blame for our lack of offense...maybe it's just me.

Because carney is QB3. We learned that during Colgate

I'd like to see Jakhari first, otherwise he's gone as soon as the portal opens in the winter.

He’s ahead of Williams on the depth chart or he wouldn’t have been the one to come in vs Colgate.

My skepticism of dual threat QBs just increased which I didn't think was possible

I think Collins is a zero threat QB. He may be able to run a good 40 time and throw a nice ball but he is zero threat running the football. His lack of awareness on the field is alarming and he looks really easy to tackle because of it

If Carney is 6 foot tall, I would be shocked. Looks tiny out there, not saying he can't be really good college QB but he is small in stature and probably the reason he wasn't recruited by most of the bigger schools. Would rather he play over Collins though. Have to remember that Collins was going to be 3rd string at LSU again this year for a reason

It's been pointed out, Collins was never considered a dual threat QB. He was considered a pocket passer out of high school. He's just a pocket passer that's not that good at passing.
