Schmidt and White coming back

Gut says they got extensions.

Could be. It's certainly very common now for coordinators to get multi-year deals. They may have extended these two to get them to stay, which means they probably have job offers elsewhere. A multi-year contract is pretty much the only counter-offer we have if other schools come calling. That could also explain why there's no announcement on the other guys. We'll let them play the market if they want.

Syracuse.com seems to clarify the statement.

In conjunction with the news of three staff departures, Syracuse announced defensive coordinator Tony White and offensive line coach Mike Schmidt have agreed to new deals to remain on staff and return for the 2022 season.

That makes more sense.

"While the remainder of the coaching staff will be finalized in the near future, I'm excited that we've retained these two outstanding coaches as we continue to build for next season."

Implying that the other coaches chose not to be retained?
If Monroe didn’t get along with White, or was looking for more $, then I’m sure that he went job shopping. I hope he stays.

It was a strange announcement. Should’ve had things all ironed out before going public.

That leaves:

Chip West
Nick Monroe
Chris Achuff
Mike Lynch
Terrence Samuel

I guess we'll find out tomorrow at 10:00am.

Meh?
SWAG DADDY!!
Pretty solid
Tucker is great, but is that him, or coaching?
Our WR’s BLOW.

I truly hope we can keep Monroe.

Achuff is likely safe too (IF he wants to be) as White hired him, and the LB’s are studs.

Maybe our new HC decided he wanted to retain White and Schmidt and that’s why they were extended? They are our 2 best assistant coaches.

I can wish I guess :)

Monroe is good and all but nothing the program has done merits anyone being fawned over. If he’s got a better offer so be it

The results beget that a lot must change. Sounds like Dino (or JW) has demanded an overhaul. Part of me is happy w this development bc if Dino does parts of his job very well that us mouth breathers don’t see then let’s see how he operates with a new cast

This usually never works but I have no choice but to channel my inner Zach Mayo: I GOT NO WHERE ELSE TO GO!

Perhaps Schmidt is the new OC or will be a co-OC.

Interesting note. For the linemen that Schmidt developed at SDSU.

One Guard is the #1 top graded in the Country, this year.
A Tackle is the #8 graded in the country.

Bergeron improved his grade by over 20 points in ONE year, for #91 in the country. A green light P5 player, and getting into blue-chip territory on pass pro. Davis had our only passing grade, last year. This year it was 3 guys.

Olinemen are developed over time. I expect continued improvement across the board as they build on improved foundations.

Here are overall blocking grades, all positions. Yellow- proceed with caution- but a 60 is considered a passing p5 grade.
