If you look at Swider's stats this season he's basically Braswell. 75% of his FG attempts are 3's same as Braswell. He did make 40.2% so he's a good shooter. Took only 28 FGA from 2. Doesn't get to the line much. So he's another 6'9 basically plays out at the 3 point line. Not much help in rebounding either -- 2.9 in 19 mpg. Again if you equalize minutes, very similar to Braswell.
Braswell only took 8 3 point shots during his first 2 seasons so this year was really his first meangingful playing time.

He shot 29.8% from the 3 point circle.

Swider was over 40%. That is the biggest difference between the two, I think, at least on offense.

Bobby was a good defender and a poor rebounder. Cole is unlikely to be able to cover as much ground and make the reads Bobby did. I am hopeful he will be able to rebound better and score inside better than Bobby but their numbers in those areas are similar.

Bobby took over 72% of his shots this year from the 3 point circle. Cole took over 75%...

Looking back it is interesting because guys like Southerland, Lydon, Malachi plus now Buddy and Joe despite being 3 pt threats were in the 55-65 pct range. Thus Cole comes in a touch higher than Braswell and quite a bit higher than anyone in recent history.

Our offense could of course change that given Nova is different.

I think Woody will be solid on the boards.

And Q might come back.
Quincy will probably come back. Not sure about Marek but would love it if he returned. I don’t think it’s a forgone conclusion that he leaves. If both leave, we we could use a long, athletic forward who can operate inside and grab boards or a wing who can attack off the bounce.

was that hulk?
I was running under the impression that Hulk and CuseRunner are the same person. They certainly have equivalent language arts skills.

Braswell shot a respectable 36.9% from three after his dismal 0-12 start. I think the 29.8% is a little misleading, he showed he can shoot some if he's getting consistent minutes. Swider is definitely still the better shooter but it isn't as huge a gap as the raw numbers might suggest IMO.

Yes, he developed into a solid option as the season progressed.

Braswell actually had slightly more rebounds/minute than Cole did. Neither were great.

Cole has significantly more assists/minute. Braswell actually had more blocks in less minutes (but the numbers were tiny for both).

Neither draw many fouls. They are actually very similar players, at least in terms of stats.

Probably the biggest gap is Swider is a below the rim guy mostly, can bang around a bit more at 230 and has an edge as noted as a shooter. Likely a lot slower in rotations but still 6-9 on the backline is 6-9. He isn't a statue and can up up and down north and south pretty well.

My one and only fear with Swider would be JB putting him at the 5. I don't see it given Jesse having grown and his experience but the pain of MD having to play the 5 and even Lydon despite him being better than MD is not a good look. That would mean we need to score 90 a game.
why is he so obsessed with small players playing center? ugh

LOl! Like we need a replacement for Braswell! Swider would be a replacement for Dolezaj. He may not be able to play center but that may be a good thing so they aren't tempted to put him there. He would be a very nice stretch 4 that can shoot the 3. I still want someone anyone that can rebound, not just another tall kid that really thinks he's a 2G. And by "just" I mean I want that in addition to Swider, he would be a nice pickup.

Fits the team perfectly. Let's gooooooooo.

And to be clear, as a "below the rim" guy myself, I can appreciate the "old school" type game, using footwork, ball skills, head fakes, etc to succeed out there against opponent's that fared better in the genetic lottery.

But still.

Don’t say head fakes. It bring back nightmares about Lydon.

The upside with this kid offensively is a lot higher than Braswell and he would take a ton of pressure of Buddy as the primary shooter.
agreed. Braswell doesn't do anything with the dribble...from the clips I watched Swider loooks much more dangerous on offense and bigger than braswell...i liked Bras...but this would be a significant upgrade despite some similarities.

Yeah, you don't need Cole when you've got Benny.

Too much overlap, and Benny's far superior all around.

Well, it depends on how many people leave, doesn't it?

Isn't that Benny?
If Benny is the athlete, then why not take Swider at the stretch 4?
Our only other forward might be Jimmy Boeheim.
