None of which will have any impact on how the starters are determined and what the minutes distribution will be once the season starts.

Everybody's got a cockamamie theory. What a great problem to have*--can't wait to see these guys duke it out in preseason practice!

And I really can't wait until White pulls the trigger one way or the other to end this pointless, endless cycle of speculation.

*Assuming White comes here

Gotta talk about something I guess... And at least it's somewhat tangential to Whites recruitment.

Don't believe it's a question of motivation. TL can sub in for 3-5, TR - 4 only = Versatility. With Gillon, Battle, AW, DC/PC there'll be enough offense to start off. Then you bring in TL where you need him. That would give JB serious strategic advantage to be able to read and react accordingly.

Tyler Lydon can also simply slide around to other positions while already being in the starting line up when any other front court player subs in. Roberson can sub in for basically the 3,4,5 and Lydon moves to a different spot. Coming off the bench does not increase a players versatility.

Good post. This is spot on. If possible you want a multi dimensional player as your 6th.

TL can play 3 4 5.

Or he just slides over a position when Roberson comes in which is the same thing. It seems posters are falling all over themselves to come up with reasons to keep Roberson in the starting line up. Lydon is better at basically everything other than rebounding where he is also very good. The only real reason Roberson would start is because he is a senior. The rest is just noise IMO, some of it very well thought out but its all to help rationalize having a much better player start the game on the bench.

I don't think there will be a personality/ego issue with Lydon personally, regarding starting or being a 6th man. He's a confident, talented player who's tasted the final four and is probably going into this season not only to improve his draft stock but to give UNC a good beating and bring back the 'ship to Cuse.

I think he'll do whatever's asked of him knowing only he controls his stock and he'll help the team and perform regardless.

White will be expecting to start he's a senior transfer who averaged 17 last year in the big 10. That's not really arguable.

I think we're all just worrying ourselves about the implications. Nothing to see here. Go orange.

The thing is, with AW3, JB has options if TR doesn't bring beast mode to the floor. I think this will force TR to be motivated unlike last season.

Plus guys named Matt and Taurean whom we did not have last year. Truthfully with White we seemingly have options for any player who is having an off night or not bringing the effort. Its been way too long since we have been in that situation.

Why would someone set on committing this week - as early as tomorrow, telling multiple players and advisers (?) so, purposely avoid the coaching staff to the point of frustration? Bizarre. At least neither the 100%-ers nor the unconvinced are getting attacked personally any longer. Which is nice.

It was a 2-3 day thing with the communication.

All is well.

I love Roberson when he plays all out. I think he will be a key cog on this years team. He is a liability on offense in the half court until he proves otherwise. He is an energy guy who can really crash the glass and run the floor while being solid defensively. We have needed an offensive spark off the bench lately because we have been deficient offensively as a starting unit. If you start Lydon then you come in with Roberson/Howard as a change of pace/energy group like we did with Scoop/Kris back in the day.
Come in with Roberson/Howard (and maybe 7'2"?)? What a huge offensive brake fest.

One big reason Lydon is mentioned off the bench is the Team. You want to avoid TR + 7'2" at the same time as much as possible for offensive reasons. At least DC2 has some offensive punch.

As coach if you started DC2, Lydon, AW3, Battle and Gillon when are you going to use your subs? When behind? No way 7'2", TR, and FH are not offensive enough. When ahead? And kill momentum. If you start those 5 you run the real risk of having a 5/6 man rotation. And all this lovely depth we have would mean very little.

I agree that if Roberson is in there its best if its with Coleman at center rather than Chukwu. I think we will see better offense from Coleman and Howard this year and more aggressive offense from Roberson. Ideally I'd think Chukwu starting with Gillon, Battle, White, Lydon would work the best with the main bench of Howard, Roberson, Coleman. Even with Lydon sneaking some minutes at the 5 and White at the 2 there will be times when Chukwu and Roberson are both out there. Maybe those are the minutes we throw the trunk monkey at the other team. This whole discussion is because Roberson cannot spread the floor, does't really have a post up game and isn't great at getting to the rim on his own with the ball. He is a great energy guy and garbage man on offense which is not a knock I consider that a skill.

I feel the need to tell you guys that I get no ego boost from this board. I already know SOME of you cyber-hate me lol

BUT! I am telling you that my source is close to the highest levels of the program but more loyal to me.

In one sentence - there's no concern, he's coming to 'Cuse!

Just in case any of you barbarians do not know the "trunk monkey" reference. This if for your edification:

Most people here just hate Georgetown. And use a popular word to preference any reference to UCONN.

No hate, man. Only love! Serious, even the people who you think "cyber hate" you still believe you are correct. Anyways, LOVE!
Lol. I'll keep my Jordan tucker info to myself then
Spill the beans, I hate you, you're not my father! And so forth. :)
