I think for SURE the top 8 in the rotation in some form are Gillon, White, Lydon, Roberson, DC2, Battle, Chukwu, and Howard... Moyer and TT learn a LOT in some of the best practice scrimmages in years. Lol

I see Gillon Battle Lydon Roberson DC with Aw3 , Howard, Pascal coming quickly off the bench. But if AW3 has a prob with not starting, i am confident Lydon would take a bullet for him.

The lineup i would be most excited to see: Gillon, Battle, AW3, Lydon, Pascal. That could be the crunch time lineup imo. No disrespect to Roberson, DC, Howard. I think 8 play a lot either way

And obviously , in terms of crunch time lineup, foul shooting is a big part of that
Agreed with your crunch time line up offensively. Defensively, in a must-stop situation, I'd go Battle-AW3-Lydon-Roberson-PC

Here's my favorite Zen story:

One day two monks were in a garden arguing subjectivity versus objectivity. The Zen master hearing them arguing approached the two students. The Zen master asked, "that rock over there, does that exist inside your head or outside your head?". One of the monks looked up at the Zen master and replied, "Well, our religious bible tells us that all truth is subjective so that rock only exists inside my head." At which point the Zen master replies, "Then it must be pretty heavy all day walking around with that rock in your head!"

So the next time you bozos tell me your opinion is a fact in my mind I'm smacking you in the head with a bamboo cane!

I am not convinced that Gillon and AW3 will be all that great defensively. Maybe they will maybe they wont. But when you have Pascal out there you can get away with more mistakes on the perimeter / wings. Those guys can gamble

I think if SU is behind and they need to make a run we might see it more than people think.
No doubt - Lydon held his own down there as a freshman, no reason why he can't do it as a sophomore. Obviously for foul reasons we don't want him down there for significant minutes...plus i'm just imagining DC/PC holding position with their hands straight up, and someone tries to finish over them, and Lydon comes from behind and blocks their shot. He has a chance to really really special on the wing with his blocking ability

All this hand wringing is most likely for naught. All indications, albeit few in number, have pointed toward AW3 picking Syracuse. Jake posts a pretty much innocuous post that infers that IF THERE IS another school that could be in the running it would be Miami. There is a plethora of reasons as to why it is taking time for AW3 to make his decision, many of which might not have any bearing on WHICH school he selects but rather are related to the logistics of making final arrangements for transcripts, tying up loose ends prior to actually traveling to Syracuse, fulfilling commitments he may have at home... the list goes on...Everyone is pretty much in agreement that it's a big decision and it's importance is heightened by the fact that he has already been at two schools where things didn't work out. I'm sure he and his father had confidence that each of those schools were the right selection at the time yet they didn't pan out.

In the mean time it seems like there's a tendency to over analyze every possibility or tidbit which might be provided by those who have some connections to the program. It's like pareidolia which is a psychological phenomenon involving a stimulus wherein the mind perceives a familiar pattern of something where none actually exists.

Just as many of us here have suggested of former Cuse Basketball players... They should let the game come to them... it's sort of the same here waiting on AW3's decision. It's one thing to look forward to finding out with some degree of anxiousness... it's another thing to be triple hair splitting the minutiae and rapidly cycling back and forth from he's coming/ he's not/ he's coming...

For me there has been plenty of harbingers that point toward this ending up with White as the new Orange.
Meanwhile... I'll just keep checking this thread every 1.3574 nanoseconds!

I just can't see a potential lottery pick and 1st team ACC player coming off the bench. I know JB is loyal, but Coleman isn't talented enough to start on next year's team.

Gillon
Battle
White
Lydon
Chukwu

Robey 6th man of the year.

We still haven't seen Chukwu play. DC may still be the better center.

If Frank becomes a competent 3 point shooter, an FH, Gillon, Battle, White, Lydon lineup would be fun and extremely potent offensively, although I think the Gillon, Battle, White, Lydon, Chukwu will probably be our best.

Flacusian, I only check the thread every few minutes to see if you posted anything.

Some JB quotes:

Syracuse, N.Y. — Jim Boeheim made a prediction at Syracuse University's Media Day.

"Paschal," he proclaimed, "will be one of the premier shot-blockers in college basketball, probably."

"There's no question. In one sense I'm sure there are some players thinking, 'Well, we're going to get a lot more shots now next year [that Richardson is gone],'" Boeheim said. "And that would be true. We think our freshmen can come in and help us. We think Tyler Lydon is ready for a big role. We think that Frank Howard is ready for a big role in the backcourt. We picked up a great fifth-year transfer [Gillon] who averaged 14 points a game in college. We think he's going to be ready to help us. We got a 7-2 guy coming into the middle that we didn't have this year. We've got Tyler Roberson who averaged eight rebounds a game and who we think is a tremendous player, so we're in good position."

Boeheim is high on Battle, who is a very athletic wing but not the same shooter that Richardson proved to be.

"It's like Malachi," Boeheim said. "Malachi came in and averaged 14 points a game and was a huge factor...I think Tyus Battle, he's rated in the same area in terms of ability. He's not quite as good a shotoer, but he's a tremendous athlete. So we think Tyus Battle can come in and make a huge difference here particularly given our strong our front line should be with Tyler Roberson, Tyler Lydon, Dajuan Coleman and Paschal Chukwu, so we really like our team."

And that doesnt even discuss the possibility of AW3

I think that's part of his indecision. There is no guarantee of starting. IMO, I just don't see JB not starting Battle, Lydon, Roberson and Coleman. That leaves 1 spot.

BTW, what was with the alert I got a couple hours ago that said you liked a post of mine...from 5 years ago? LOL.

I don't think Gillon was guaranteed a starting spot. White fits with that starting lineup, and Gillon IMO works better off the bench anyway.

AW3 is not a + defender.

I get it - he's tall and long. Who doesn't love that on the top of the zone?
But he's not considered a great, or even good, defender.

I'd swap Frankie in for AW3 in that D lineup, and unless AW3 shows some serious improvement on the D side, you can bet that JB will do the same.

JB has tried other long guys at the 2, and it didn't work out on D:
Mookie, Southy, BJ.
Just becuase you are tall and can shoot 3's, doesn't mean you can D up at the 2 guard position in our zone.

Every position is up for grabs. Whoever plays the best will get the most minutes. Competition is a good thing. We need AW3 so we have 5 x 5 in practice. We will have the best team if he turns Orange!

Yeah, Gillon didn't come here to sit. He likes being a starter. That being said, I'd love him in the microwave role. The thing is he might be our best point guard.

JB would have some good problems to have (as far as lineup decisions) if we net AW3.

That makes a lot of sense. My only problem with that lineup- to start a game with Battle and AW3 as the primary ballhandlers makes me a little nervous. Like the idea of two playmakers/ballhandlers out there at once like Gillon Battle or Battle Howard. Reminds me of the days of Triche with Scoop or Dion...,good days!

Or Triche w MCW!
