Notre Dame is playing a Shamrock Series game against Boston College in Fenway Park

The game is on NBC.

NBC only carries Notre Dame "home" games.

BTW: Notre Dame is also playing a "road" game at BC in 2017.

Notre Dame played Maryland at FedEx Field and there were more ND fans. They are playing at Fenway because it's a cool site. Notre Dame is more popular in New England than Boston College because the area is full of Irish Catholics and Notre Dame is more popular than BC.
Playing BC in Fenway doesn't mean anything other than BC will have a road game 10 miles from campus.

I know this is a message board but you have be most negative person on here. Don't watch Syracuse sports or football for that matter then.
You must be a newbie. There are several posters lurking here whom I would describe as more negative than Kaiser.

you really dont read this board much do you??

which is fine, but i suggest for the rare time that you post, to not come in making blanket statements that are blatently wrong.

So... if the series is not continued, we're looking at the following:
  • four total games at MetLife
  • one neutral site game (PSU 1-1-1, of which the latter two were canceled)
  • one home game that was moved (USC), while in the BE
  • two games against ND scheduled during the BE era as part of "New York's College Team" campaign and to generate media attention & revenue
That would be it. The impact/damage of the latter two games may be mitigated be an additional game in the Dome as part of ND's ACC agreement. If that's how it turns out then most here will be OK with that.

On the flip side, some will not be happy with the diminished NYC presence. perhaps an arrangement at Yankee Stadium could fill that need. Personally, a non-conference game in metro NYC every 3 or 4 years combined with attractive games at the Dome (e.g. LSU, etc.) would be OK.

Playing games in NYC has never been a problem. The only thing I brought up was playing home games in NYC 300 miles away from campus. If we scheduled neutral site games at Metlife or Yankee Stadium every year we should do it. If Notre Dame ends up playing at the Dome before this 60 game ACC ends I think it would have turned out a lot better than playing our 2 home games in NYC.

There should be 7 games in the Dome every year. If we can finagle an extra game in NYC on top of that, great.

Every P5 team we play should visit the Dome as part of any series, unless it is a 1-off game on top of the 7 home games. I would not drop a Dome game to make room for a 1-off game somewhere else.

The implication is that accepting a 1-off game would likely result in a heavy schedule. So be it. I'd prefer that the decision to play away from the Dome come with careful consideration in any event.

If we played 2 home non-conference games, 1 road non-conference game, 1 true neutral site game, 8 conference games I wouldn't complain. A lot of teams these days play neutral site non-conference games for $$$ purposes. Playing home games 300 miles away from campus has been my only problem with Metlife/NYC games.

7 home games would be nice, but not a necessitate IMO.

If Notre Dame played in the Dome it would have been sold out and loud like an SU home game should be.

agreed that was a pretty silly statement by Kaiser. If you cant see that we have a better chance to win in front of 45K Cuse fans in the Dome vs. playing a road game at Metlife in front of 60K ND fans... then i feel sorry for ya.

One thing the Dome can't duplicate is the tailgating scene and atmosphere at Metlife with 70k in the parking lots. Some of us were talking about how great it would be if Syracuse could have something similar...but we know that's never happening. Tailgating was so good yesterday, some of us didn't want to go in for the game.

Without a doubt, Cuse has one of the worst tailgating scenes around. When i went to Michigan and Virginia for games, the tailgating was amazing. We have disjointed groups of 500 all around campus. nothing great about that.

It's as simple as trading a higher chance to win for money and exposure. When the deal was inked, we needed the later. Now that we are in the ACC we need the former.

Winning > Money

Always

Great exposure too. We're 0-3. Silly kids are still talking about that big win over USC.

You misread what I wrote. Higher chance of winning at home doesn't mean sure win at home. At the time, a slightly smaller chance of winning was probably worth the $ and exposure. Now we switch the formula. Doesn't mean we are automatically winning all of our home games vs top ten teams. It means that ACC money and exposure alleviates choosing between the two.

Are you implying we were not in dire straights when the deal was inked? Or that we are not in a more secure position now that we are in the ACC?

Honestly.

Must have been designed by Jerrod West and Ryan Nassib.

Of course we are in a more secure position now. But that doesn't mean we were in such dire straights, which we weren't "dire" that we had to sign a 14 game deal. You also have to look at the cost of not having a home game. The financial upside isn't so great that all of a sudden we'd be flush in money. It's great hearing the next 10 are gone. But we got boned on the USC deal, screwed on the Pedst deal which shouldn't have been played, and now just got hosed on the Nd ACC deal.

Every school can always use more $$$. However, this narrative that SU AD was in dire need of money and that is why we sold the games to MetLife is lazy and lets Dr.Gross and the AD off the hook.
It is true that the BE was only giving us about 3 million a year in TV money but in 2010 ESPN tried to renegotiate a TV contract with the Big East for about 1 billion dollars a year which would have given FB teams about 11-12 million dollars a year. The Big East declined the offer because of Pitt/Rutgers/ND/Gtown leaders saying that wasn't enough to stop the BE from going on the FA market(which never happened because the ACC expanded)
Gross knew the TV money was coming, but he sold these games for the additional money which honestly I don't know what he has done with it. The BoT and new Chancellor weren't too pleased with the audit of the AD and Gross hasn't said where the $$ has gone and the lack of an IPF helpped push Marrone out of town and if the BOT didn't okay the IPF it still would be in flux.

Gross is a fine AD but these MetLife home games were a joke and he used this cash to cover some of his mistakes.

where did you see the 2017 road game part since I hadn't seen any future nd games after 2016 announced

You're vastly overselling our position in the BE. It was a sinking ship with or without the TV deal.

The funniest thing in all of the MetLife threads is a lack of knowledge. None of us have access to the athletic department budget or to the details of the deal. Would seem to be a pretty glaring hole in any definitive statement on either side of the argument.

I stand by my position that folks are just mad that they get one less home game in their ticket package and/or own a local business that gains money from home games. The mental gymnastics required to ignore the facts we know while making assumptions about we don't is Billy Fucillo huge.

Business 101. You agree to a long term deal to sweeten the short term gains in hope that things change. They did.

Not sure how we got screwed outside of the score and losing a home game. You're a man of few, sharp words. Explain, bees, explain.

so a few have leaked out but not all
I am unaware of any games leaking but is it safe to assume since BC is playing a game under ND control that their game from 2017-2019 would be at BC.

Are you sure you don't work for the SU AD. SU BB made a lot of money for the SUAD that it covered a lot of loss revenue from FB.
If the Big East took the ESPN offer SUAD would have received triple the TV money it received in 2010-2012 how do you dispute this.
