TE Landon Morris / Portal from Utah to Temple

Nope...you don't quit like this

You give it the Fall then make a decision.

He quit on his team and himself.

We lose a Scholie for the year and he can transfer and play in September
I don't think he can play in September. He may have to sit. Kids had to enter the portal for all sports by July 1 for the 2021 season. For 2022 the Fall Sports have to enter the portal by May 1.

You are correct. My understanding is he had to enter by July 1 to be eligible for this season. I'm a little disappointed he didn't let the season play out. Then if things weren't working out, work with the coaching staff to preserve his redshirt by not playing in more than 4 games and still be eligible immediately next season if he transfers.

This may be a red flag for any new coaching staff he considers, but he will have to sit out if he transfers again. So for his sake, I hope Landon doesn't make a rush decision and he really thinks it through this time.

Any freshmen who thinks the offense should be built around him his first year is crazy... more like looking at the size and talent of the tight ends ahead of him.

I’ve never understood why Dinos offense has almost always been strictly plays to receivers outside the numbers. it’s quite literally shrinking the field and limiting the plays that are there to be made. i miss the year 1 offense with erv finding the soft spot in the defense and eric hitting him for a nice gain of 5-7. and in reference to landon, good coaches find ways to get good players involved, if you can’t change your scheme or get creative with your play calling to get these players touches then you shouldn’t be a head coach. especially not at this level. it’s 2021 the TE position has turned into a hybrid WR, you’d think with the “fastest show on turf” dino would be all over that, instead he flat out ignores the position? never made sense to me and i think it shows just how flawed dino is when it comes to adapting. luke benson could be an absolute game changer with his ability, and last year he had 6 receptions for 63 yards. just a complete waste of a very talented player.
They definitely need to throw the ball more to the TE. Luke has speed but I think people boost him way too much because of that. There is no doubt he should get more touches along with all the TE's but they also have to show that they are that dude. Give the coach no choice but to showcase you. Im not sure we have the TE's that teams have to scheme to stop. Maybe we do now and will get to see it this fall. I thought we waisted Ravian Pierce. He was that hybrid type that you mentioned. I dont understand how he went from 30 catches his jr year to barely getting looked at the following year.

The timing makes NO sense. You're 3rd in line at your position as a 1st year player.
You're at a good school. You're playing in a major D1 conference. LOOK AT WHAT YOU MIGHT LEARN in the next 4 months. If you play in 4 games or less, you're a RS freshman with 4 years left of eligibility?
It will be interesting to see where he ends up for 2022...that may already be decided.

I think Ravian had an issue with an emotional outburst that got him flagged his senior year and Dino held him out and he never seemed to get on track after that. At least that is my vague recollection.

Thought we just needed him to block more in 2019, due to the OL being awful

I do remember that but he still played. Might as well throw to him if he's on the field.

No he cannot play in September. To be immediately eligible as a transfer he had to go into the portal by July 1st. Has to sit out until 22 season.
If he transfers to a JUCO or FCS I believe he can play this Fall.

Otherwise yes and that makes no sense...as he could put his name in the portal after the season and play at at P5 or G5 next Fall.

Nope!
My experience is it’s typically the parents that care and not the kids. Kids usually get it but parents assume their kid deserves more Bc “he’s special”. Give the kids the trophies don’t let the parents know about it haha

So now what? He stays on the team and just watches? Does he get practice reps? Fascinating ….what happens now?

He was very complimentary of the coaches. Maybe he wants to be more WR and with Samuel coming in etc the staff decided he needs to be more TE.

Wish him nothing but good luck at his next stop.
i would be too, if i was looking for a job.

He a freaking true freshman. How about putting in the work and earning your role.

My thoughts exactly. The convenience of the new transfer portal rules will allow these *unhappy* kids to jump at the first sign of inconvenience. As an adult, you don't get to do that in the real world.

He's a young man, but suck it up buttercup. Life throws curveballs at you, figure out how to hit them.
