I don't think Clemson has offered a JUCO in over a decade.

Snob.

I don’t make the news I just report it; these are from the sites, (but yeah I’d agree Johnson’s offers were phony as he never got off the bench for us) that said JUCO and Prep offers reported may also be hold overs from high school.

It may be true I just didn't remember it. Keep reporting my dude.

Based on the dead period being extended he should not be able to meet with the staff. He still could go and visit the campus.
Concerning the staff recruiting. As a fan it does get frustrating when we loose out on a recruit but it does not appear from a lack of effort from the staff. The issue is you are dealing with 17 year old kids and logic usually does not dictate a decision. Just looking at qb depth at both vandy, duke and su, su would be the logical choice. Looking at staff job security su would be the choice over vandy. However, most kids hear sec and think that is an automatic path to the nfl.
Concerning Leonard. He still has not made his commitment and it is may. It would be nice to get his commitment but if we don’t I still feel the staff will find a quality qb for their system.
I feel if TD can have a great year or two under Gilbert’s guidance then our ability to get higher rated qb recruits will happen. Time will tell.

it’s a bit more complicated than that. From what I’ve been told - the staff can’t be blamed here. They were on him early, offered him early (earlier than what was reported), and I really do believe the pandemic screwed them over. If Riley would have been able to visit earlier, I think it’s a different story.
I get it and I believe what you are saying, it’s just frustrating.

Why are all of our chips on an unrated, under recruited player from Alabama in the first place? Have we already missed on every equally talented prospect north of the Mason-Dixon line? Why has this staff missed on so many of its plan A, B and C prospects?

I think it’s frustrating because I really like Dino and this staff and want them to succeed but back to back to back recruiting classes ranked in the 60’s isn’t going to do it. I need to reset my expectations.

Was going to post the exact same thing.

With our offense, it’s mindboggling to me that we can’t get a 4 star QB. Babers got one early with DeVito. Makes little sense to me to see us whiff on prospects for two straight years (not saying we will this cycle - just saying).

I posed the same question last night. it was pointed out to me, and I agree with him 100%, that Dino needs to get a QB to the league. We run an offense that when done correctly will put up huge numbers, but the fact that he’s not recruited a QB that has done it in the league, is being used against us. Jimmy G wasn’t recruited by Babers. Devito needs a good season(s) and needs to be drafted.

It’s amazing how other schools get their QB’s and we struggle, struggle and struggle more. Very upsetting that we can’t get a QB we want/need like NC State who recently got a 4* out of GA. You would think recruits would love to play and pass the pigskin in the Dome but that doesn’t seem to be the case, especially under Dino.

Well said. If we got the QB commitment that NC State just got it would literally be the biggest win/highest ranked recruit in 20 years for us. For NC State it may only be their highest ranked recruit this year. We have a huge disparity amongst our peers and the results show.

And why? Seriously, why?

No idea, but the horrid OL play last year cannot help. Straighten that out and QB recruits will be more willing I would hope.
This I would wager is a major issue the staff is answering to when talking with their targets. I would also believe that there is a ton of negative recruiting happening as well regarding our oline. Great callout Bayside.

I believe our best shot at a highly touted QB is via transfer after they lose their QB battle. Believe there will be plenty of options after this season w/ all the schools with multiple 4 star QB's and only 1 being able to play per school.

Folks here do realize in the last 5 years we have 27 wins while playing in the ACC and Vandy has 24 in the SEC right? Not a lot of difference there.

Well, this is considered a down stretch for SU and that’s par for course for Vandy. Not to mention the ACC’s been the superior conference during that stretch.

When did our down stretch begin? When Leonard's parents were making their college choice? Think we lose perspective quite often on things like this.

Missed this part. Is this sarcasm? Doesn't seem to be delivered as such but can't think anyone in the world could believe such a thing.

It was obvious to anyone that watched games that the OL was overmatched. It improved greatly at the end of the season, but by then it was too little, too late.

What I truly find interesting is that we still have the same OL coach. Which signals to me that the head coach blamed the situation purely on the OC, the young OL, the ineffective C for the first 8 games, or a combination of all.

Will be interesting to see how it improves. Also think QB play needs to improve, which would help the OL out.
