I don't agree. 8-12 in ACC. Ceiling is 10-10 imho. This is a 16-loss year w ACC tourney loss. We have absolutely nothing inside- bigs are going to be eating us up all year. This Guerrier surprise disappointment (so far) is a real killer. He looked like he would be at the very least a decent rim protector.

We have poor middle of the zone play and our guys get destroyed in transition because we can’t rebound.

Work at your craft, get better, study, refine, do what you have to do. Is your opinion that these 18, 19, 20 year old guys are what they are and have no chance to get better? Tom Brady was pretty much a non-factor guy in college and now has become an all-time great. Rak was anything but great until his senior year. Why do you make it seem like this group of guys are deadenders?

There are too many young players o try to develop at the same time. is a result of the depletion of the roster do to sanctions. As this class grows it will allow time for the new recruits to have a more normal development phase.

Sanctions had nothing to do with the fact we returned our entire starting 5 last year and the players didn’t improve last year.

To further this point. The 3 teams the Orange lost to thus far will make the NCAA tournament and are capable of making deep runs.

Chukwu was a defensive presence but he didn’t rebound and wasn’t an offensive threat.
He would help the defense but no thanks to either player on this team.

Agree Cooney isn't playing over Buddy, and Chewy would be a huge upgrade.

I think he was always a player - I remember he had like an 8 point, 11 rebound game in the tourney his freshman year after Fab got suspended.

At the same time, he steadily got better too. He didn’t get a ton of chances because we had a lot of guys and other good players at his position, but he was efficient and effective as a soph and especially as a junior. Senior year he was even better...and he was all we really had, especially once McCullough went down.

It seems we are VERY reliant on players coming in as pretty much finished products.

Mali, Lydon, Buddy, JGIII, Battle - doesn't seem to matter whom it is. They're either ready to go from Day 1, and subsequent to that we see limited improvement, or they just don't seem to get there at all.

Everyone being forced to play without a PG (or one that has to spend time on attempting to learn the role) may contribute to that significantly - point guards tend to be helpful in basketball.

I also concur on the Rak revisionist history...although wasn't he notable for leaving after his Junior year (summer) to go work out away from Syracuse Univ? Could be wrong on that one...

Gbinije is probably the last guy who improved the way SU guys who weren’t quite ready at first, typically always did.
