The Shady to Tennessee thread (it was fun while it lasted)...

The rewrite of history by some national CFB writers on the Schiano era at Rutgers is incredible. You would think Schiano brought them to multiple conference titles with the way some have gone to bat for him. The bottom line is that he had one pretty good team ('06) which resulted in a trip to the Texas Bowl (tied for 2nd in the BE) In the 5 years following that signature season, he parlayed it into absolutely nothing higher than a 3rd place finish.

He was largely lauded mainly for having the good fortune of immediately following an incompetent like Terry Shea, and doing so with a schedule filled with glorified HS teams OOC. People forget that the years prior to Shea, Rutgers was largely a .500 type of team under Graber etc.

One of the most overrated head football coaches of our lifetime (and an absolute AHole to boot). Well done by UT fans to raise such hell and get this nixed (if it does in fact get nixed). They can do a lot better.

Look at what Bill Snyder did and that rebuild and what Greg Schiano did in his.
These beat writers defending Schiano are so lazy.

How do the contracts work. I imagine they sign, then announce. If Schiano signs, is UT on the hook for a buyout now? Anyone know how this works?

Theyll probably settle for some sort of breakage fee. Much less than a full buyout (but still good money).

Would think that Schiano is now unhirable for a P5 job.

He had one shot to get back in the game and his agent screwed the pooch. Picked the wrong situation.

You can't be the program that has "lower morals" than Tennessee.

Rutgers is the only job he can ever get. In case anyone had forgotten his name and connection to the Sandusky mess, they never will again.

I’m sure Urban Meyer is enjoying this hot mess while his DC is also supposed to be preparing for Wisconsin this week.

Yup, sheer laziness. Bill Snyder at Kansas State, that's just another level.

Schiano was 20 games under .500 in conference after being there for 11 years. Vols fans should be proud folk for thwarting this mistake. Currie should (and probably will) be out for this epic mistake.

Watch Clawson emerge here...
Wouldn't shock me in the slightest. However, I'm pretty sure Knoxville would burn to the ground.

Is Shady Schiano still the DC at OSU or did he lose that as well?

The answer to this question will likely be a big part of the amount of cash UT owes Schiano after this fiasco.
