This is always the saddest night of the year for me...

No more college hoops for seven months.
I feel the exact same way. I usually get out of my funk by going to North Carolina, and this year it’s only slightly different. Going to DC to be with college roommates and then on to Durham. Still and all, these next few days will be a bit of a bummer.

Do you think we are addicts?

You are the specialist in this area. You tell us... Just because you are retired does not mean you can't diagnose us...

Yes addicts of a healthy addiction competitively speaking

For any of you analysts out there...would it be unhealthy to just admit that Villanova has become a much better program than SU over the last several years?

By the way, how should I feel about the Yankees being snowed out Monday only to reschedule their home opener for a driving rainstorm on Tuesday?

I think the common theme is frustration.

Relax... only 3 more months til the snow melts, then you can enjoy a couple weeks of summer before the new BB season starts!

I might be in the minority but I think the spring and summer break is needed. 6 months of basketball is a lot. Not a bad thing to redirect our energy and time into non-sports related endeavors. The outdoor season here is so special that it would be almost criminal if we were locking ourselves away in our living rooms.

The best part of the break is the building anticipation for next year.

I love baseball season. It’s sports without all the angst.

Football and basketball bring out the devil in me. The deviiiiiiilllllll!!!!

I have posted this before, but there are studies indicating that people who are fans of a team enjoy better mental health than those who aren’t. I believe it is a way to transcend the concerns of ego and join a collective consciousness. It always seems to feel better to celebrate with others (or share sadness) than to celebrate alone.

Some would say the lows are too low to compensate for the highs, but I would not say that. March Madness is a particular challenge to us fans, because we know that all teams cry but one. Still, we want to revel in the Tourney and squeeze every ounce of joy and excitement from it that we can. If we only watch the Tourney because we want to see our team win it all, we will be bitterly disappointed. I think this year Syracuse fans successfully squeezed that Orange for every precious drop of juice!

I personally don't mind. One of the worst tournaments and seasons overall in recent memory. This break is a good palette cleanser.

For me, the essence of what you said is that our bball fandom gives me MANY friends, even though I may not have met a lot of them.

YES. I will never forget when my daughter and I went to the Final Four in Atlanta and stood in a long line to get into a bar. There was a lot of outside seating but everything was full. I took a chance to look foolish and shouted out, “Anyone here from Syracusefan.com?” Immediately a table rose its hands. I yelled, “I’m bballbeadle.” They yelled back, “Beadle, get over here!” And that’s how we spent a very enjoyable and comfortably seated pre-game experience,

Plenty of time to gaze into the old crystal ball and formulate one's 2018-19 Iggy predictions.

BBallbeadle…. but just think of the possibilities for a new Avitar …. We can start working on it now... and be ready for the next season... you know "Just wait till next year"... It's all good my friend. Lifes' greatest triumphs are often born on the heels of adversity.

Yes! We will have to come up with something triumphant, in order to match our team’s accomplishments! My yin/yang may have been too mellow. In 2019 I’m going to Kenya. Maybe I can come up with an African animal (Lion King - - too obvious?).

Really? We made the Sweet 16 when we didn't even think we would make the tournament and you call it one of the worst? Are you secretly a Hoo fan?
