UCF feeling entitled

I'm interested to see how the Fiesta Bowl plays out. UCF without its QB and LSU without both starting corners. LSU should have no excuse about not being up for the game like Auburn was saying last year.
LSU without Greedy and White the LB could be in trouble. They aren't an explosive offense and UCF can score,
If LSU's DL isn't up they could get beaten. UCF doesn't have a good D though so LSU will probably try to run on them. If LSU had Greedy and White and UCF had Milton it would be more interesting.
LSU will not engaged.

Reality is that UCF has far more leverage than any other G5 program has ever had. Expecting them to not use that leverage to get the best deal possible is...unrealistic.

This is incorrect. Teams won't want to play them. They are lucky they got Stanford home/home. Their leverage is not great at all. They have won 26 games in a row and still weren't even close to the CFB playoff.

I guess we will wait and see what happens to UCF against LSU

...and you know what might get them in?

Going undefeated and beating teams like Florida in the non-conference.

Too bad they’re above conceding 2 for 1’s until they establish themselves as more than a really good G5 program.

If they wanted to make the CFB playoffs they need 3 P5 schools in their nonconference schedule.
I believe the American is the best of the G6 conferences but its not a power conference. They need to play these P5 teams whatever way they can. UCF is a good team but its not a powerhouse that can dictate terms.
If they were smart they take the 2 for 1 from Florida win 2 of the 3 games then they have leverage in the future.

The Big XII didn't expand beyond 10 because 2 of UCF/USF/UConn/Cincy/Boise State/BYU didn't add enough value in TV money for expansion.

The Gators saying that is one of those garbage things SEC teams do. They know UCF isn't going to take an offer like that, and they shouldn't. If UCF said they'd take the 2 for 1 I'm not even sure Florida would hold to it.

UCF balking at Florida’s offer to play at 2 for 1. They say they should get a home and home since they are a top 10 team. Well a couple years ago they were an 0-12 team. Where does this sense of entitlement come from. Instead of taking the deal and earning the right one day to get a 1:1 they complain that no one will schedule them. News Flash... you’ve had 2 great season and haven’t done much since Donte Culpepper roamed your sidelines.

All these new programs want everything handed to them instead of earning it with years and years of excellence on the field.

Side note... USF took a 2 for 1 deal with the Gators.

Gators AD would welcome 2-for-1 series vs. UCF

UCF is pulling a Wichita St.

LSU's defense will destroy UCF. Unlike last year these Tigers won't be bummed about playing in this game and will show up.
Contrary to popular belief, Auburn actually played quite well in the Peach. It’s an inaccurate but popular take by people that want to discount their victory.

...Let’s say they go undefeated next year. It’s a tough situation for the committee - you can say they need to play tougher teams -but better teams also need to be willing to play THEM. On reasonable terms. At some point it reaches the point the SEC schools need to themselves and just play the friggin game.

Personally I’m rooting for them, because the college football playoff is a farce that needs to get blown up as quickly as possible so we can move towards something that’s not dishonest and entirely stupid. And - for the record - I HATE UCF. I hate the sham playoff the power conferences came up much, much more though.

Normally I would agree with you that LSU wouldn't be engaged but I know that down in SEC country they're getting a little tired hearing from UCF. I think they'll be engaged, whether they can execute is another matter. Btw Devin White is playing in the Fiesta Bowl. Greedy Williams and the other corner (Fulton? injured) are not playing.

Nobody is saying they’re bad or haven’t been successful recently.

We’re saying they’re new kids on the block who play in a crap conference and need to earn respect and not scoff at 2 for 1’s from programs that would actually bring them relevance.
Does Miami need to earn respect? Because UF has offered them similar arrangements.

Miami can laugh at them, play somebody else, win an ACC title and go to the Playoff.

UCF can’t.
The point is--if you're looking for arrogance and a sense of entitlement, check out the Gators (and their fans).

They want to be on the road it’s the only way they get mileage out of wins vs the P5. Their curbstomping of Pitt would have been talked about more if it wasn’t in Orlando. They beat Pitt that badly in Heinz Field and people take notice.

It’s an impressive win streak regardless but these comments show me they want to finish every year around 7 in the CFP standings and raise a phony banner not go for 4 and see Bama.

The win streak also means they will now start seasons ranked pretty high. One good road win and they will be looking down at more deserving teams all year. .

Good point and over the last 10-15 years, USF has been a force and earned a home and home, 1 for 1. UCF is ridiculous . People keep going to the fact UCF beat auburn last year in a ny6 bowl. Well, anyone who knows the game, and bets, in a bowl you figure out who is motivated and happy to be there vs who isn't. Auburn playing UCF in a bowl to end the year wasnt into it.

The argument against UCF is playing a p5 schedule week in and week out and getting up each and every week against p5 talent.

I guess we will wait and see what happens to UCF against LSU

Even the LSU game won't prove much with LSU stars sitting out and LSU not playing for much. LSU has nothing to prove in game 13. UCF will be sky high playing LSU in the normal rhythm of a reg season means more.

This comment about Miami isn’t even relevant. UCF is complaining that no one will play them. Well, take the 2 for 1, shut up, and go win. Just sick of hearing how they’ve been slighted by the playoff committee. Quit complaining and schedule some good teams.

Btw... Miami and Florida playing in Orlando next August.

UCF wants to get in the playoffs? They might have to do things they don’t want to... UF doesn’t owe them any favors.

UF could continue scheduling NC patsies and nobody would bat an eye. At least they’re willing.

UCF thinks they deserve a H-&-H, that’s cute. You can keep talking from outside the playoff picture.

2019 UCF Football Schedule | Future Schedules

2019 will be telling... NC slate that has FAU/Stanford & Pitt... the only two conference games that really matter are Houston and USF. But another problem they have is that their NC and conference marquee matchups, are dependent on the other team being good that year as well. Playing Pitt is great, but if Pitt’s 5-7/7-5 type of year, nobody gives a shittake.

The only way they get in under the current format is if they go undefeated and there is chaos amongst the majority of the P-5 conferences where the champions have 2+ losses. It would be an anomaly.

Buck up buttercup, grab UF on the road twice well you can, then, earn your way in. Does anyone here believe that a top-3 anybody in a p-5 conference doesn’t have the ability to roll through the AAC?

They need to schedule a minimum of 3 NC P-5 opponents annually, and win, to be in the conversation. It may even take 4.

Good team, sure... naming their price, no way. They don’t have any leverage. They’re the ones who need help to get in.

When UCF declared themselves national champions last year it was embarrassing. Their team last year was legit and probably deserved more respect than what the committee gave them. They had a legit D.
This year they are paper tigers. They have an elite offense but no defense. UCF would get rolled by Alabama this year.
UCF doesn't deserve 1-1 from Florida. The defending NCs are going for a repeat against LSU.
They would get rolled by Bama, they will actually get rolled by LSU.

You do realize UCF’s star QB is out due to a nasty injury? I’m not seeing a bunch of pre-built excuses focusing on that issue. If anything that should outweigh LSU’s motivation excuse.

UCF can’t seem to win (despite actually winning). If they win the bowl game people will say LSU didn’t try.

What leverage do they have? Can they force really really good P5 teams to play them? Nope, obviously not as Florida just said, not unless it is a 2 for 1.

They have to beat top P5 ranked teams to get in and more than 2 in a year. Can't do that unless they get a chance to play them.

Who holds the power in that type of situation? UCF needs those teams to play far more than the P5 teams they need to get in. Most of them can schedule cupcakes OOC and play their regular conference games and still get in as they will have played a tough enough schedule.

Right on... UCF will have to do something extraordinary in order to seriously garner discussion for the playoff from the committee.

They can’t schedule their NC slate like your typical P-5 and expect to get in. It’s just not going to happen.

They really don’t have any leverage at all. Not for what they need it for.
