Updated 2022 Roster

Wil Froumy and Ja'Vontae Williams gone.
I seemed to remember folks talking about Williams making plays in the spring. Had high hopes for him coming here with offers from Oregon, Miami etc. Hopefully that means our WR’s have stepped up.

Our O-line has some MONSTERS. Tall, big, experienced and athletic dudes. Our d-line is athletic, light, long, and inexperienced. Couldn’t have 2 opposite sides of the lines look different.

That being said. Barclay is long, tall and athletic. Also a very smart dude. I think he’s an interesting dude at DL.

Also Hough at DL at 315 is huge. I’m sure he has the quick feet and quickness from his running back days. If he gets that weight to be good weight….hot take but I think Hough can play himself into a draft pick at DL if he gets fully healthy

I am surprised more WRs have not left. We have a lot of them on the roster and only 4 or 5 are likely going to get significant playing time.

In this day and age, patience is a rare commodity.

Needs more surgery.
I hope it is relatively minor and Wil will finally get a chance to play the sport he loves this fall.

I feel bad for all these athletes who work their tails off to take and become great, have potential but get hurt and can never realize the fruit of all of their labor.

Is the door closed for him to return to Syracuse at this point?

On the flipside - clearly there aren't 4-5 guys who know they're 'the guy' yet -
so maybe that's why many of them still think they might be one of those in the running?

From the Spring game, Isaiah Jones sounded like he had the inside track to be WR 1

That would make Queeley #2.

Then Jackson,
Coop will play,
and the rest is a crap shoot

Have to think Hough still is not anywhere close to 100% or that weight would be lower right? We may just need to be patient there, unfortunately more depth at DL would be welcomed this year. Hopefully he can heal up his ailments soon but I have a feeling that may not be this year.
I think Hough will be 2nd string this year. He had a really serious leg injury but obviously he'll be going inside. I expect he'll do well and has a chance to make the NFL.

DB
Chestnut up 195 to 198
Ja'Had Carter 200 to 198
Garrett Williams 190 to 189
Alijah Clark in at 180
DomFoster in at 166
Jason Simmons Jr in at 193
Neil Nunn 190 to 188
Hanna stayed at 170 (hoping he can add some weight next year)
Isaiah Johnson in at 204 (That pretty big for a dude who could possibly play CB)
Bralyn Oliver in at 194
Quan Peterson in at 178
Barron to 220 (Pretty big for a safety. Wondering if he grows into a LB)
Jeremiah Wilson in at 171
Greenwood to 189
Folk to 201
Delaine in at 172
Coley to 200
Cornell Perry in at 180
Hanna is probably a hard gainer. He'll have to be the smartest guy out there. We'll see how he progresses...excited to see how good the back 5 will be this year.

Garth Barclay listed at DL (6'7 277)
He has a high center of gravity. If he can catch, I wonder if TE could be another spot for him?

Regardless, I expect he'll be fighting for 2nd sting on the line. Next year will be his time to shine.

I’d be curious to see how well they “fight” each other. I suspect the DL will get good experience from these battles, but will the OL be ready for 300+ lb DTs when the time comes? I suspect yes, but still…
Thoughts on how this plays out?

I am not sold that Queeley will even be in the two deep. So far he has not shown that he can beat out the younger guys. I’m looking at Alford, Gadsden, Hatcher, Peña, copper, Jackson and transfer from FAU.

I don’t think he’s athletic though. I’m surprised he’s moving there. Maybe he feels like he can help and asked the coaches to move him there. I hope he proves me wrong.
Not sure how well he can get off a block, though he can be a solid pass tipper with that size, especially on 3rd and long. Perhaps get an int or two as well from it. Seems low risk to try.

Williams could just as likely be a grade casualty. He struggled with them in high school and needed tutors to get eligible.

Did Barclay play DLine in high school?

The interesting line...

"He was a first-team Y-A D-II all-star on the defensive line and a second-team pick on the offensive line."

New sets of eyes looking at and evaluating everyone in the receiver room. I expect to see some reshuffling of the deck there.

Has it been mentioned how Jahad Carter got jersey #1? That number has been on the shelf for years….presumably for a star player if they wanted it…..didn’t have Carter in that category.
Carter was a freshman all american… could be slept on

Jobity’s bio. You can’t sign 25 kids with this profile, but he’s also the kind of kid that could end up being a star.

If Queeley is still a starter, we are in trouble, the team needs playmakers at receiver.
Honestly have just not seen enough from any other receiver that would make me think someone is going to unseat him.

But I'm still hoping it's not a talent issue, but just that the offensive play calling was dysfunctional ...and some new faces pop on the offensive side
