Updated 2022 Roster

From the Spring game, Isaiah Jones sounded like he had the inside track to be WR 1

That would make Queeley #2.

Then Jackson,
Coop will play,
and the rest is a crap shoot
Wow, this is way off. Isaiah Jones #1? Jackson and Alford will be the leading receivers but the big surprise will be Donovan Brown. He is right out of the gate already better than the guys who have been here for multiple years. Mark it down.

I hope it is relatively minor and Wil will finally get a chance to play the sport he loves this fall.

I feel bad for all these athletes who work their tails off to take and become great, have potential but get hurt and can never realize the fruit of all of their labor.

Is the door closed for him to return to Syracuse at this point?
Not minor.

Meh.

I got Alford and Jones with Gadsden third, Courtney and Pena in slot. Love that size on the outside. I also think Hatcher is getting some burn.

Watch the Spring game again and see what Anae said about Jones. And also who was running with the ones during that game

If Gadsen and Alford aren't playing, consider me shocked. Along with Jackson, I think they'll be our top 3.

Wr position is wide open. A lot can happen during a full fall camp. I think Jackson is the only guy that has solidified himself. Need to see more from the other guys. I do think Cooper is steady.

Coop is a guy with sure hands that can hit the sticks and sit down. We need that. If we can find a couple that can peel the top off the defense (and catch) in addition, look out. All of our QBs can run and our RB room is filthy, especially against a light box.

LB
Wax up 235 to 239
Mikel Jones 220 to 224
Thompson up 235 to 250 (Wow that is a big backer for us)
Sparrow down 225 to 219
Mason at 221
Lowery stayed at 225
Roon up 215 to 228. (Like that)
Bailey in at 217
McDonald down 230 to 225

DL
Linton down 225 to 219 (Was hoping he would get bigger. Didn't expect much gain but goin backwords? Still can produce but will likely be more situationally)
Hough 255 up to 315 (Have to assume some of this is due to injury and he'll hopefully drop when he can workout more)
Simmons 255 to 257
Darton 295 to 266 (Quite a transition. Trying to get more explosive seems to be a theme)
Barclay to 277 (Playing DE probably?)
Geer to 233 (I don't like this. Should be explosive but I'd prefer a little bit bigger personally)
Jaquez in at 240
Lockett up 265 to 270
Okechukwu 265 to 268
Jobity in at 247
Nolton in at 252 (like this)
Bassette in at 260
Fuentes-Cundiff down 275 to 267

Seems like 265-270 lbs is the target for DT's.
By week 4-6 Nolton is going to start getting more snaps and start making plays. My top freshman.

It seems the quality of our WR room has gone down since 2019.

On the positive side, the OL room is much improved since then

Phillips, Ishmael, Amba Etta-Tawo, Estime… 3 of the 4 recruited by the previous staff.

Not sure what it is, the coaching or the recruiting, that has created this lack of explosiveness in the WR corps. Jackson has shown a little. Harris was good but Inconsistent and a hot head.

Hope it comes around this year.

Solid Analysis of Key Takeaways.

Roster class breakdown
7 RSr
1 Sr
5 RJr
6 Jr
10 RSo
17 So
21 RF
17 Fr

I only counted Cooper and Darton from the walk ons in the above group. I’m counting an additional 22.

For a team that is returning as much production it is still a very young roster.

Wow, had no idea it was THAT young.

Don't forget that 2020 didn't count against eligibility. Tucker is a Sophomore, Garrett Williams a RSo, etc.

True, I kinda had that in the back of my mind. But 55 of 85 appear to be in their first or second year and not impacted by the free Covid year, correct?

Barclay's senior year highlights, including snaps on the DLine. #53:

wait, so an upper classman as a starter is nuts but a lightly recruited incoming freshman is better than most in the room? Hopefully you have some intel otherwise that's just a ridiculous shot in the dark statement.

I have off the charts intel.
Donovan Brown...say it with me.
