Washington Redskins Name Change...

As a patent attorney they have to wait a pretty long time to get approval for their patent whatever name they want.

It takes usually over a year. Now they could buy the name off somebody who likely already has the patent to the name they want but I doubt Synder will spend even more money and will try and get the NFL to fit that bill.

Rumor is the name they want is owned by a patent hoarder and negotiations aren’t going easy.

They may just use a W logo and be Washington FC( Football Club) until they get the name they want.
Orangemen isn't being used

Can’t wait for ESPN’s Diana Russini to talk about this story with the allegations she has had thrown her way.

The Red Skins are a real class organization. As a Giant fan, I am worried that Snyder will be made to sell the team. He won't have any support from other owners who would normally stick together.

Needless to say this falls short, thankfully, of what many of us were reading in the old rabbit hole. Hopefully this is not the tip of the iceberg.

This guy is claiming the WaPo story only covers about half of the sexual-related allegations that are out there and that there's far more to it than just those allegations as well.

He says he'll be publishing his own sourced article soon but obviously nowhere near as reputable as WaPo.

By the way, is it even an independent firm if you hired them and are paying them?

That is what the NFL used for Deflategate, Bountygate and Ray Rice investigations.

The NFL “independent” investigations aren’t independent

All of this because of Floyd’s murder
there is always a spark that starts the fire. Whether it is a woman refusing to go to the back of the bus or anything else. The murder in plain sight by a policeman is as good as anything to start that spark

Serious question:

Is this issue here that there's essentially no such thing as an independent firm in cases like this or is there a different way they could have brought someone in to investigate in an unbiased manner?

Yes there is.
The NFL and NFLPA could jointly pay for a body to handle matters that require independence.

If they split the cost then neither side would have taint of an investigation being anything but independent.

By making each side pay for their own investigations has a chilling effect of tainting investigations to find the outcome desired by the organization paying for it.

I think you'd need a Watergate type Special Prosecutor. But who would pay them?

should we now defund the NFL because of 1 stupid idiot??

Internal independent investigations didn't help the Washington cheerleaders or with their old team name. Something needs to change...

There are a lot more than 1 stupid idiot in the NFL. But the NFL is a private business so there is no defunding it. that is only for public spending. Tomorrow I will educate you on the abc's.

In the end it's a private business/cartel. They can monitor this as they see fit. If people don't agree with what's done, don't tune in, don't buy apparel, etc.
Bad behavior goes on in large businesses all the time.
If what is allegedly coming out about some women reporters at ESPN is true, I wonder what that reaction will be.

This isn’t really an NFLPA issue though. I’m not aware of a union for NFL office workers but maybe it does exist.

Decision has been made. Schefter will "break" the story tomorrow.

A primary and alternate name will be announced tomorrow.
