Wasnt Stadium info supposed to come out this week?

There is enough space around The Dome to expand the concourse outward on the north/south sides as well as the east/west.
. Except it sounds like they don't want to expand the concourses and just want to relocate concessions to a new east wing. That would be a huge fail.

But, if all the concessions were moved to a new east wing, the current concourses would be much less congested.

Doubt that would happen. No way people are walking the length of the Dome for a hot dog.

The bottom line is without expanding the footprint on all sides any "solution" will be half-assed.

Maybe. But we're all just speculating at this point. When the plan is released, we can all comment (and complain).

The thought of all concessions being in one wing makes me think of the parade in Animal House when the band was lead to a wall and couldn't move...

The necessary structural additions to support the new roof, along with maximizing revenue and improving fan comfort by adding more box seating that will be aligned for basketball games, and moving some operational functions that take up much needed Dome interior space, including those of concessions and catering, by utilizing a new building to be constructed where Archbold Gym currently sits on the east side of the Dome.

Sounds more like a centralized kitchen in the new wing. One pizza oven to rule them all.

Right. There's no room to expand on the south side, but concessions and bathrooms take up a ton of space; those amenities can be reconfigured to add probably 25% or 33% more space to the concourse. Meanwhile, more popular amenities will be in the end zones.

They can expand on all sides, some more than others, but don't spew the BS that they can't expand. If they are building a new dome over the existing top they are in effect establishing a new perimeter. If they don't use that opportunity to widen the concourses on all sides it's because they're cutting corners.

I seriously hope the info that is leaking out is incomplete. Because I'm not walking the entire length of the dome for a hot dog. The whole premise is so silly it has to be misinformed.

Just because they are putting on a hard top over the existing Dome it doesn't mean that an entire new perimeter is necessary. It could be engineered with just a few trusses.

First, no one's put forth the premise that all concessions will be at one end of the Dome. Of course that's ridiculous.

Second, check out the south side of the Dome next time you're up there. At its tightest, it's about eight feet from the curbline of a road that SU doesn't control. They're not expanding to the south in any significant way. (And if you got a sense of what's between the back wall of the current boxes and the exterior wall of the building, you'd realize that that's not necessary - there's plenty of room to significantly widen the concourse by using mechanical/bathroom/concession space more efficiently.)

Are you spewing again?

Yes, they could just put a few stakes in the ground and call it a day. But if you have trusses you might as well spend a little extra on drywall to expand the concourses, no? I'm going to keep dreaming about a 3rd concourse until someone comes in here and says the dream is dead.

Hold fast to dreams
For if dreams die
Life is a broken-winged bird
That cannot fly.
Hold fast to dreams
For when dreams go
Life is a barren field
Frozen with snow.

I certainly hope it's more than a few stakes.

Is there even drywall in the Dome? There is no room to go south at all and even if you could there would be little cost benefit.

Ahh awesome idea Open Concourse Pee Walls...will save lots of space.

Based solely on your civil and respectful reply to being ridiculously called out for "BS," I would bet that spewing is not one of your habits. Thank you for the obviously well informed insights you have added to this thread.

Thanks, kind sir!
