I sent money to football after Fran was hired and have never heard from them. That is

Outside of the orange united emails from doing my part there not a single thing but that is in response to donating not requesting . Fan and alum and nothing. Plenty of calls for money from the school but nothing from a collective. That needs to change.

Also that’s not the only collective I donated to and the other I got nothing from after the first two donations .

Hate to say this but initial reaction to fed ex and Virginia general assembly stories today is what's the point and that a few thousand bucks from every day is not going to be meaningful for much longer.

Funny story about this question [which I've shared with others off-line].

First hand account, from an exceedingly wealthy CNY businessman: he was contacted by a Syracuse collective with a donation request. He was expecting the ask to be somewhere in the neighborhood of $500K.

The "ask" was for $5K. His take was that it would be impossible to raise the necessary funds required to be competitive, if that was the approach.

I do not disagree... But collectives are run by fans or donors themselves, who have other full-time jobs.

If you want them to run more efficiently and maximize output, they'll need to hire a full sales team. The 8 board members for Orange United and the others that are Football NIL board members are all prominent alums, some recent athletic graduates -- all a part of it for various reasons. But they all also have full-time jobs. They're not 100% dedicated to this.

If they do hire sales staffs, and most likely people that have a background in fundraising and asking for correct amounts, they'll need to compensate said sales staff decently - which would cut into the profits to utilize for other teams.

I was telling a friend of mine just the other day, you know who they need? Me. I spent my life raising money (and managing it) . I'm retired and play poker 5 days a week now but someone like me. People will give if they are asked.

I am sure that is true. But it is as I said earlier, the 2 dollar window that keeps the race track flush. And the slot machines at the casino. There is a lot of money being left on the table.

If it were my plan that’s what I would do.

Priority #1: Try to build the biggest network of small donors and donor subscriptions that you can. This is the year over year budget. Shouldn’t be hard with the right marketing and a promotional scheme with random incentives.

Priority#2: Bigger donors to build secondary fund that is used to bid on the big time missing parts that are one year rentals or one and done kids. This is also who you go to when you need to raise money quickly if there’s a bidding war and limited time. This group is solicited more on a publicity and program access scheme.

Priority #3: local businesses and events where players can earn extra money. Basically continuing re-recruitment of players you already have and a community connection.

I’m sure if I spent more than two minutes coming up with this plan I could do even better.
