Well, that just looks like an ACL injury

BJ looks pretty unhappy on the bench. Maybe this will work out for him, or he'll discover what he already knew.

Bj can score but his shot selection is very questionable most of the time and he is too weak to drive the basketball right now as he gets pushed around which makes him a one dimensional player...in shooting from the outside, he can also rebound well but is still trying to understanding the slides on defense from what I have seen.

For those who can read lips, Boeheim gets what looks like a progress report at the 7:50 break in the first half. All I could tell is Boeheim saying "OK." Couldn't read Brad Pike's lips.

noticed that too

I wouldn't be overly happy either...he barely if ever plays. It's not easy to sit and watch and not get to play.

I'm not saying he deserves time but just it can't be easy.

He doesn't. Moving on.

anyone have a screen shot of the play (stepped away from the tube for a minute)?

Mike - his right knee slid in laterally towards his left knee. It was bad. Can't imagine we see him again this year...

ACL, MCL, PCL?

Really feel awful for the kid. The season probably wasn't going how he expected and now this. I'm sure a strong finish would have earned him millions. Hopefully the school bought a insurance policy for him and maybe he'll come back bigger and better than ever next year.

This also points to this program's lack of depth. We knew going into the season that the roster wasn't deep, yet no 5th year kid was brought in as insurance/quality depth. It's hard to consider us an elite program when we rarely have the depth needed to overcome an unforeseen issue. I hope JB or Hop never gets stuck in this position again. And I really hope CMc is ok.

What you described would be a typical MCL tear type of movement.

just saw it. ACL for sure, greater than 50% chance the MCL to some degree too along with cartilage damage to his meniscus is very possible. You're right done for a full year if it's all that, 8-10 months with just the ACL by itself or with the ACL an a grade 1 or two to MCL (not torn all the way through). That looked similar the kid I think it was kentucky a year or two back which just blows me away to see these things happen from non traumatic(impact) injuries as much as traumatic ones now,

Luckily it's 2015 and not 1985 as he can come back full strength and then some in the Willis Maghee mode with either one.

Funny you mention the Noel injury...I YouTubed it after the game. Had its similarities definitely with how the knee bent when coming down after a jump. Noel was yelling in pain immediately. It really sucks

Looks like this board won't have Chris to kick around anymore.

Hope to god it's nothing but it rarely ever is nothing.

Give me a break. Very few here "kicked" as you put it, Chris. I can't think of ANYONE here that didn't support and won't CONTINUE to support the young man. His play is what people criticized which has been well warranted. This injury, may in fact, actually work in his favor believe it or not. Hard to believe, but that's my hope. I wish Chris the best and a speedy recovery. Any young man, especially a young man wearing Orange, will always have my support. Quit with you stupid kick around comments and try to look at the reality of what it is.

Yes it's 100% ACL. Literally the exact same jump and awkward land from when I tore mine. The second it happened I said ACL. Of course I wasn't above the rim, more of a 6 inch vertical.

Silver lining is he will pretty much have to come back now. Good for us.

Sort of a side note, but one thing I was surprised about last night after he left (obviously with a serious injury of some sort) is that Johnson didn't get any playing time. I figure that he has got to get into the rotation now, whether he is playing well or not. He's got to figure out a way to be productive, as Patterson is starting to do. I kept waiting for his entrance but it never came - that surprised me particularly since we had a lead that could have allowed him to play a few minutes.

It's honestly shocking to me that there aren't more ankle or knee injuries in all of basketball.

We're talking about guys with 30+ inch verticals jumping up together and landing with massive feet.

It's insane.

And McCullough has landed like that a lot already this season; it looks dicey every time.

This kind of thinking is toxic, seriously. "Well, if it's a serious career endangering injury he'll be forced to come back to us!"

Even an ACL is not a career ending injury anymore, especially when the player is 20 years old or younger. Your body can take one; it's the second or third one that really take away a player's athleticism.

totally agree. He's like a bag of wobbly bones out there. Potato legs.

Jake totally jinxed CMac last week when he said barring injury he's still likely to come out.

I cringed when I saw the replay. There's just something about joint / mechanical injuries that always make me queasy when I see them happen in games.
looked just like Jabari parkers injury a couple months ago.

Many of these knee injuries look worse than they really are. For example the center from unc last year, that looked catastrophic but it wasnt.
