Bryce Young, Jameis, Jordan Love, Herbert, Dak, Tua, Flacco, Carr, Goff, Dalton, Rogers, Minshew, etc

13 QBs have been named who aren't runners.

Dak ran 13 times this year. Can he run? With his 54 yards this year (30 in one game)?
Tua can run? Was it his 70 or his 74 yards in the last two seasons on the ground your indicator?
Past running success for QBs who no longer do it could be an age thing, or it could be where the league is going. They protect the QB more now than they ever have. Your advantage is staying in the pocket. A few anomalies to that

It is a passing league. I am not saying McCord is going to be a long term NFL guy, but he'll have a shot at a roster spot in the first few years.

Let me preface this that I don't blame any player who thinks they have an NFL future for opting out of a bowl game. From the day McCaffery opted out of Stanford's bowl game it's gone from elite no doubt first round guys down to the QB from WVU that didn't play the Camping World Bowl that got drafted in Day 2. At some point the scenario you describe above is going to happen.

i’m pretty sure that’s where it’s headed too because players are getting their full scholarships and NIL whether they play or not. I hear some fans and from some players referring to games after they are mathematically eliminated from the playoffs, as “meaningless”. I was on the Pittsburgh fan site after they lost to SMU, and a good portion of their fan base thought the remainder of their season was a waste of time. They said just start trying other quarterbacks and get ready for next year.

You already see people opting out after four games to transfer. Sometimes even if they’re starters. The only way to fix it is to revoke scholarships for people that took the scholarship and opted not to play.. And to make NIL performance based so they have to play. Imagine someone in the NFL saying “I don’t feel like playing, but you have to pay me anyway”? That’s what’s going on here.

Is there value in paying for someone who isn't playing to a company who spends NIL money? Even if they don't see the field there is some value.

You value in NIL to a kid at Ala who then quits the team in week 4, how can that be valued the same?

You would think it needs to be tied to at least being on the team to create NIL value to whoever is paying that money.

There’s definitely a lot of variables. The problem of transfer portal opt outs is actually much bigger than the problem of opt outs for first day draft picks.

I think the easiest way to solve it would be too not allow transfers during the full school year, but then let summer practice start two weeks earlier which would replace the spring practice time that a lot of these kids want to make sure they get.

I think kids should definitely be able to transfer without penalty, but shouldn’t be able to penalize their teammates by leaving before the season is over.
