I don't know why I thought that was a tie in my bad
thanks Chris. that's pretty damn confusing if you ask me.
its to try to keep teams from going to same bowls year after year and playing same teams

I still think that SU will get the ACC Military Bowl slot and since there are two vacancies in BiG slots, they will push for Maryland to get one of them on their end.
Cheers,

I agree but Rutgers losing would greatly help our cause.
Yes the 2nd best ACC team, if top team is in NC, has a lock on the Orange is my understanding. That is a huge help to us assuming FSU soundly beats Duke next week. Rutgers losing would really help too for many reasons.
Bigger question - isn't it in the ACCs best interest to get as many of its teams in a bowl just because as a conference it maximizes 2 things - shared $$$ most importantly and increased exposure for ACC football.
So taking a step back from the ledge I guess I'm just going to have to wait and see on this one and let the Doctor work his magic behind the scenes to sell the team as it is his job to do.
Also there is that 50 mil lawsuit that Maryland has against the ACC.yea I expect some of the bowls to start coming out with teams early this week with limited slate next week.If the acc can only get 1 at large bowl for its teams I could definitely see them telling Maryland seasons over since they do have worst conference record of all bowl eligible teams(tied with pitt)

Phil Steele has also predicted Rutgers to the Pinstripe Bowl for at least 4 straight weeks and continues to do so in spite of their performance or the fact they are still not bowl eligible... Needless to say we shouldnt give a flying what he predicts..By my count even if we do not get an ACC tied bowl and Clemson does NOT get the Sugar Bowl bid there are six open slots (seven if Rutgers loses) and other than Cuse 3 teams from BCS conferences eligible. Notre Dame makes four. That means all four of those schools (Washington State the weakest) PLUS two from other conferences (Toledo, Ohio and Arkansas State the only teams with better than 6-6 records) would need to receive bids to leave us out.
Unfortunately that is exactly what Phil Steele projects this morning.

TexanMark said:I hope so...the ACC is 100% ESPN and the PAC12 isn't. Just that the Mike Leach Tie-in might drive some extra ticket sales. Bottomline: it looks like one P5 team is SOL if NIU gets a BCS Bowl and/or Rutgers winning. SMU could upset UCF also and get to 6 wins to really mess things up. We need to root for a convincing UCF win and a Rutgers Loss. Also would like to see NIU not make a BCS Bowl.
Rutgers losing ALWAYS helps our cause.

TexanMark said:You are saying Beef O'Brady and the MAC has the secondary agreement...the bowl is not going to break a contract just to get a name team. We need UCF to win big we need Rutgers to lose or NIU to lose to help. A close NIU win might be enough if UCF wins big...I have a feeling some voters will not vote NIU as high as they haven't been winning huge the last game or two.
Those secondary agreements aren't worth the paper they are written on. They can be voided. SU will be in a bowl.

The LAST thing Swofford is gonna let happen is for the new kids on the block get screwed in their very first year in the ACC. If anyone gets screed in the ACC it will be Maryland.

Mark, do you have any idea how enforceable those secondary agreements are? I was reading an article about ND today that said these were like handshake agreements that could be negotiated. Could the ACC pay off a bowl to get SU in around the secondary deal? If that is possible, I can't see the ACC not doing it.A 6-6 conference team can't get a bowl if a 7-5 conference team is available...I'm not saying Cuse is out...but it isn't 100%. There aresome scenarios in my mind where either Cuse or Pitt stay home.

ESPN has out as ACC bowl team with pitt/su hoping for a Wild card shot at some other bowl. so 2 teams we beat and finished ahead of in our Division go..
Those two teams also have better overall records.so 2 teams we beat and finished ahead of in our Division go.
